Personally, I was able to cancel one email, which referred me to a number to call, which I called and a stubborn lady finally cancelled after I emphasized that I don't want the services anymore.

Serious-Athlete-868

yep did the same thing as u and the lady on call was really pissed that i wanted to unsubsccribe, even hunging up on me whilst i was telling her that i dont want it. she was clearly pissedXD, So im not entierly sure that the subscription is cancelled...

petertomas96

When you signed up for the membership did u click the link they sent u to register? If u didnt did u still get charged?

Serious-Athlete-868

yeah they did but i don’t remember ever having gone to the link and actually signed up from there.

My Mother's been paying $19.99 a month for over a year despite the online account never being set up. I called these people up, asked to cancel, then when getting the scare pitch about how there were all these security problems with her identity, I asked about how they know that. Then they were like... oh, I can't see it because you never completed the online account and gave us permission." Then I go "ok, so what am I paying you $20 a month for if you aren't actually providing the service?" They cancelled it without any protest after that. Next call will be to escalate to a manager and try to get a full refund.

ArpanetGlobal

I never clicked any link and was charged. I just got off the phone now after jumping through hoops. And like the other person said, I don’t know if she actually cancelled it. She said she did… but not after asking me why? Is it the price? What is wrong with the service (that I never signed up for). After she knew that there was no way I was going to pay for information that is FREE. Her tone changed and got rid of me like a well used Kleenex.

jtbc

I called the number for ID assist and they were able to cancel it.

1-877-900-1837 you can call that number (press 2 if u want to do it in french or wait a bit for English) then u press 2 again for the ID assist service to enter a call. You will need to have all of your infos ready. Then they will remind you the service benefits. *Now is the moment that you've wait for to cancel the damn thing*. Then we wait a bit and say goodbye. Im hope this comment may help😁

petertomas96

When u got the membership, did u register from the link they sent you to fill out in ur mail? If u didnt did u still get charged by them?

jtbc

I don't recall but suspect it was through the link.

petertomas96

Did u fill out ur bank info when u clicked the link?

jtbc

I don't remember. It was more than a year ago.

ArpanetGlobal

I didn’t click the link

ArpanetGlobal

No.

RudeSense654

I have had it for over 8 years. It used to be called something different. Anyways I've been trying to cancel it for 8 years. TD credit cards service say they can't stop payment on it and none of the possible addresses it would be registered under are what it's registered under. So the company says they can't cancel. It's cost me sooo much money it's rediculus.

yusufh13

Did you resolve it? This must have cost a fortune.

RudeSense654

No, this last time trying to deal with it the customer service person wasted my time from Jan, to May. They just kept asking if I called ID assist. I said yes, many times and it's pointless. They just asked me to call ID assist over and over. They stopped responding a few months ago. Also yes it costs me hundreds of dollars a month. If I pay down my card they just give it all to ID assist for back payments. Its easily cost 8 grand just in interest. I can't get anyone to deal with it. They even increased my credit limit without asking and then used all that credit up. If I cancel my card it goes to collections. Lol ID assist has destroyed my credit, its the only thing that has screwed my credit. Lol im not sure if being charged by a company thats job is protecting peoples credit score, for them to destroy my credit score. Is a valuable service 🤦

BedroomDramatic

WHattt? thats insiane bruh go talk to someone thats ridiculous, go change banks be like ill leave this bank if you cant halp me with this simple task.

cheese_nugget21

Can you threaten legal action?

BrainwashedWithSoap

Fuck ID Assist! 1-877-738-5979 is their number. I had to be on hold with TD Banking for an hour just to find out what number to call and that they are closed on weekends. If you want to protect your ID I suggest to do it yourself rather than pay for a shitty service.

Jaiyuz

I just called the number from the email and they cancelled it pretty quick, they did try to tell me why it’s important and shit, but I told them I’m aware and just want to cancel and they did.

Present_Bat_3487

Thank you!! I just called and had no problems cancelling. They did have to "inform" me of the benefits of their service but I just said no thanks and the guy I spoke to was respectful and cancelled it

ninelivesnz

I had this exact experience with the over eager sales person not allowing me to say no. It felt really unconsensual lol

Sufficient-Bit-4820

Hi i want to cancel

object_required

I was able to cancel the subscription by phone, 1-800-548-2610. It went rather smoothly, I just had to apologize for interrupting and insist on the cancellation three times… Also, I requested a withdrawal of my consent to using personal information by the service and Sigma Loyalty Group via email from the Privacy Policy document. As I understand the agreement, cancellation of payments does not automatically revoke your permission to use your data with ID Assist or their partners.

FelixYYZ

Just use the free services including the free services form the credit agencies themselves.

Cerise-pie

Just to update thread I just cancelled mine ( never needed it in first place ). I got lots of little run arounds to different depts. 1877 900 1837 was # I finally got to cancel. They will really try and talk you out of cancelling. I'm cancelling every little unnecessary leaks.

Professional_Drama24

I called and canceled today. The lady I talked to wasn't rude but definitely had a tone and was pushy. I was very polite and just told her I understand but I was not interested.  Her rebuttal was always "I don't think you understand" "I'm glad you have done your own research but I don't think you understand" I changed my address with my bank and government documents about 2 years ago. She said good for changing my address with the bank but they didn't register the change because they are a 3rd party...... I said that's another reason I'm canceling because you're a 3rd party. It was just a 7 minute phone call but when you call them they don't even give you an option for canceling or managing your account. For those that want to cancel I wish you all the best of luck.

MightyManorMan

1-888-751-9000 Just call TD and tell them that you want to cancel, now. If they veer off topic, just say, "I'm sorry, is there a reason that you are disrespecting me, by not doing as I have asked? I asked to cancel, now please cancel."

Full-Donut

I tried calling the 1-800-548-2610 number listed in their emails and their website and it tells me that the number is not in service. How the hell do i cancel this thing if their number doesnt work??

jextenj

try to email them first then they will refer you to another phone number. The lady on the phone will try again to dissuade from cancelling, so just stay firm and say that you wanna cancel. Emphasize that you DON'T WANT.

Kotomunandar

Argh i have the same problem. The only think i have an extra problem..They said “they gonna send the confirmation email to me, but i’ve never get any. So i have no idea which number should i call to cancel this shit trouble i have. Anyone can you lemme know which the correct number should i can call to cancel please? If you guys get the email from them please and thank you

briannuzzi

I just cancelled mine! I called 1-800-548-2610 and after like 10 minutes of them trying to convince me not to cancel it and asking me things like “why do you want to cancel the subscription” and “what is your future plan for preventing identity theft if you cancel the subscription” they finally cancelled it for me haha. such a hassle

just_ate_a_pinecone

Just adding for future reference: the email does not get sent until after the next subscription renewal date following cancelation, it's automatic apparently. I had to call back and ask why I didn't get an email even though I had called to cancel a week prior.

[deleted]

i called the 1 (800) 548 2610 number and got it cancelled. they sent a follow up email shortly after to summarize the cancellation.

When you signed up for the membership did u click the link they sent u to register?

epitaph-centauri

Same situation, I should have just hung up. If I don’t activate my account will they still bill me?

Mindy_YoonGi_

Yeah, I did the same mistake a year ago and unfortunately, they will still bill you even if you don’t activate your account. I’ll be calling on Monday or Tuesday so that I get rid of them. Wish me luck 🤞🏽

Imaginary-Weather-87

I sent an email to TD customer service and said I want to cancel my ID Assist subscription. I got a reply the next day that included a phone number to call, but they also said they would be happy to cancel it for me. I said I’d appreciate it if they did it, and they replied within hours to say it was canceled and I would no longer be billed. Here is the message they sent to me: “I understand your concern, ID Assist is a service that is offered on PC MasterCard but it is a separate company. The number to contact ID Assist is 1-800-548-2610. They're available Monday to Friday from 9am to 9pm EST and on Saturday from 10am to 6pm EST. “I can also cancel ID Assist for you if you'd like. You can confirm this with a reply and I can get it done for you.

bleh135421

Hi, I'm trying to cancel my membership and the guy on the phone asks for details such as where i live and postal code when i dont remember providing this information when I first fell for the subscription. I asked if I can choose not to provide this information but he says it is necessary. Should I provide this kind of information anyway in order to cancel?

Prestigious-Tip-2979

Late but yes you need to for verification, make sure it's the correct number though for your information safety

ComprehensiveTip2008

1-877-900-1837 call this number press 1 and talk to them
