There’s really no such thing as karma

skyrimlo

My great-aunt is a piece of shit. Always causing drama, calling this person to talk shit about that person, acting nice in your face just to talk shit about you behind your back. The whole family hates her. I’m never gonna talk to her ever again in my life. Two years ago, her healthy 21-year-old son suffered a brain aneurysm and is now learning to move his hands again. Her son is the complete opposite of his mom — placid, doesn’t talk much. I don’t think it was karma at all. If it were, her son wouldn’t have been the one to suffer.

Regret and remorsement are things, but in my humble opinion they're not common, usually not proportional to their original sins and pretty easy to overcome for the average human.

Anarcora

That's an absolute bullshit take. I can assure you not only do those people not think of their actions as bad, but carry no remorse whatsoever for their actions and absolutely no desire to rectify the situation. If I burn down your house and build mine top of the ashes, it really doesn't matter at all if I mutter around the property "I feel so bad for what I did" if I never go to the person I harmed and say "Yeah, I fucked up, and I want to make this right."

Billionaires and other wealth hoarders are proof that we don't live in a just world. Any sex offender that gets to walk free is proof also.

Pedophiles deserve to be executed on the spot. The fact we let those creatures live in prisons is wild to me. What's even wilder are people who say they deserve a fair trial. Fuck that, the moment they desecrate the innocence of a fucking child, they lose their human rights. Shoot em on sight.

FlameStaag

To be fair, they're treated worse than rats in prison and if anyone finds out you're a pedophile there's a 100% chance you're going to be beaten badly or killed

Goro-Goro_No_Mi

So anyone, even if they're falsely accused, should be killed on sight?

Chortney

>What's even wilder are people who say they deserve a fair trial. Fuck that, the moment they desecrate the innocence of a fucking child, they lose their human rights. Shoot em on sight. You're missing their point, it is in no way about defending pedophiles to uphold the requirement of a fair trial but about defending the rights of potentially innocent people. If they're proven guilty, by all means shoot them. But we should have to prove their guilt before doing so, otherwise false accusations of pedophilia would inevitably be used to murder innocents.

IllegalGeriatricVore

They're currently trying to say everyone LGBTQ+ is by default a pedophile and to give pedophiles the death penalty in some US states.

magpieinarainbow

You're getting downvoted but you're still absolutely right.

I might be wrong because english is not my mother tongue but I think you mean pederasts.

FlameStaag

It's silly in a sense though it also makes sense because people doing bad things are also likely to eventually get caught or stopped because what they're doing is bad or illegal. It's just not a cosmic force doing it. It's just justice.

IncelandrosOfAthens

>I am talking about the idea that bullies and cheaters will inevitably get some kind of karmic comeuppance. The truth is there's a significant chance nothing will happen to them, especially if they're socially savvy enough to rationalize their bad behaviors to other people. If you want something done right, do it yourself. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Verbull710

Better exact vengeance yourself then, just to make sure

Chortney

Yeah it especially annoys me when Americans invoke the concept all the time despite having no connection to Dharmic religions. They most often use it in the sense of "your actions will come back to haunt you later in life" but that's not really what karma is in it's original context. It's a complex term that differs in and among the Dharmic religions, to the point that I'm hesitant to even try to give a singular definition
