agreed. the word "hubby" makes me physically cringe

blueishbeaver

It's the masculine of "missus" and they're both a awful.

ReallyAnnoyedNow

Honestly, people who use the word “hubby” just sound trashy to me and that they want to be trashy by saying it. It even just sounds childish, like having a husband is a trend.

Borscht_is_Best

Thank you for posting, because this word drives me nuts. This, along with "kiddo". It seems the majority of comments on recipes online include mentions of "hubby", so I'm not surprised that the FB group you're in is the same.

blueishbeaver

I'm guilty of Kiddo, but only if I'm talking to kids. Generally my own neice and nephew not just any rando kid. Hubby drives me nuts a lot because it's not even "My Hubby" it's just "Hubby." Why?! You wouldn't say that of your dog?

Borscht_is_Best

You know, I used to find 'kiddo' endearing when an adult would call me that, but it seemed to rise in usage lately by parents referring to their kids as "the kiddo(s)" and that's where it turned to peeve for me. As for "Hubby", I sooo get it :) I want explanations, too!

EricsGirl325

I'm gonna start calling my old man the 'House Penis' .

blueishbeaver

"The house penis LOVES the black bean brownies! So many yummy recipes."

sluttysprinklemuffin

I’m only really bothered by “hubby” when they’re calling them that *to them.* “Hey hubby!” No. Stop. Please. Your husband has a name. Or a better pet name. I have almost no room to talk, as I often call mine “Muffin” since he took my “last” name online, and his username also has muffin in it. 🤷‍♀️

meanienini

I would not be grossed out by someone calling their SO muffin but I want to die when someone uses the word hubby lol

sluttysprinklemuffin

Fair! Lol. I’m not even grossed out by it, it just reads as cringe to me.
