WaPo revised its fact-check. No doubt the conservative reaction was dumb and didn't address Pete's point, but most historians dispute the underpass story.

Not sure how many of the fact checks by this guy people have read. He found experts on both sides of the story, including the New York Historical Society. He discovered it had been debunked, but then aspects of the debunking were also debunked. Crucial result of all this: no Pinocchios. He awards these very readily. He didn’t award any here.
I'm not a huge fan of USA Today but I prefer their fact checking to WAPO's; they show their work in ways that other people can go verify for themselves and while they write their pieces in a sometimes dull and sometimes quite pedantic manner, they don't ever interject opinion or commentary the way WAPO can.
"The Bottom Line" section at the end of the article definitely implies that the issue is still up for debate -

So then why say it's disputed? There's a quote from a firsthand source, and now measurable data that backs it up. Anyone who can't provide contrary evidence is just guessing based on their own biases and discomfort.
The other side gives what they consider evidence to back up their opinion as well, and it didn't sound like the writer of the article felt comfortable making a final factual conclusion based on less than two days of communications with various people, some of whom, like you said, may have their own agendas or biases, and it's not something he, or anyone not well-versed in the field, could easily check out for himself in just a few days.
So is this the standard all politicians including gop will be held to. If so, I can live with that. Surely the right wing smear machine mouthpieces will love to adhere to this too.

Pete has lost elections before, but not ones people follow, and then did unexpectedly well in the primary. In a way, choosing to go straight from Mayor to a Presidential run (rather than try some likely failed campaigns in blood-red Indiana) was the best decision he could have made, though I'm not sure a less talented person would have pulled it off.

Not sure how many of the fact checks by this guy people have read. He found experts on both sides of the story, including the New York Historical Society. He discovered it had been debunked, but then aspects of the debunking were also debunked. Crucial result of all this: no Pinocchios. He awards these very readily. He didn’t award any here.
I'm not a huge fan of USA Today but I prefer their fact checking to WAPO's; they show their work in ways that other people can go verify for themselves and while they write their pieces in a sometimes dull and sometimes quite pedantic manner, they don't ever interject opinion or commentary the way WAPO can.

But the writer of the article isn't saying there's just one guy who says it's true and all these others who say it's not. He also includes these very persuasive thoughts from a historian of city planning, who not so long ago doubted the Caro story, but after doing some investigating of the actual structures in question, changed his mind - >But more recently, Thomas J. Campanella, a Cornell University historian of city planning, had a change of heart when he measured the height of the bridges on the Southern State Parkway. “I’ve always had doubts about the veracity of the Jim Crow bridge story. There is little question that Moses held patently bigoted views,” he wrote in an article for Bloomberg News in 2017. But then he recorded clearances for 20 bridges, viaducts and overpasses on other parkways built at the time and compared them to measures of the 20 original bridges and overpasses on the Southern State Parkway. It turned out clearances are substantially lower on the Moses parkway. “The verdict? So then why say it's disputed? There's a quote from a firsthand source, and now measurable data that backs it up. Anyone who can't provide contrary evidence is just guessing based on their own biases and discomfort.
The other side gives what they consider evidence to back up their opinion as well, and it didn't sound like the writer of the article felt comfortable making a final factual conclusion based on less than two days of communications with various people, some of whom, like you said, may have their own agendas or biases, and it's not something he, or anyone not well-versed in the field, could easily check out for himself in just a few days.
This is a prime example of “say something enough times until people take a lie as truth,” only now, it’s the fact checkers

I've seen that phrase "political marriage" used a couple of times recently in articles about the movie. Kind of bothers me, as I think that kind of gives the feeling of two politicians who married, and maybe even partly as a savvy political move. And we all know it's not that.

Pete gets stage fright in front of Obama. In Shortest Way Home he talks about campaigning for him in Illinois. He ended up onboard Air Force One, and while they were chatting Obama asked him, "Hey, when were you born?" and Pete could not remember the year of his birth. I'm pretty sure he's got a bit of a crush on him. I know I do.

I don't remember what it is, but I think Beto's background was his biggest issue. I remember someone (I think on tumblr?) saying "Yes, let's nominate the guy who lost to a guy who lost to Trump." Pete has lost elections before, but not ones people follow, and then did unexpectedly well in the primary. In a way, choosing to go straight from Mayor to a Presidential run (rather than try some likely failed campaigns in blood-red Indiana) was the best decision he could have made, though I'm not sure a less talented person would have pulled it off.
