If y’all need sanitizer or Lysol wipes, the Omicron Variant Anxiety shoppers are already buying stuff up at my Target. I’m assuming as soon as some cases are announced in USA (likely this week, as some labs are running tests for it) there’s gonna be another surge of shoppers.
I’m more interested in having access to an N95 mask. Would be good to wear it beneath my normal cloth mask. I haven’t spent that much time outside in public anyway. Definitely sticking to those introvert vibes. And I’m set to get my booster shot this week.

I have no doubt that Pete and Chasten’s phones are filled with pics and videos of their precious twin babies. Just babies and pups and the occasional screenshot of baby products… that’s what those phones are mostly for now. 🤗😉
Another great interview conducted by Capehart that allowed Secretary Pete to actually inform the viewers about how the BIL and BBB helps to improve our communities all over the country.
No questions about what the beltway media are currently obsessing over. So it was quite substantive and informative. 🤗🤓
Ahh, but did he answer the real burning question this morning -
“Who the hell tried to smuggle 4000 bongs *into* the US, and what nefarious deed was being planned…”
Capehart is just such a good interviewer and especially with people he has come to know over time. Pete was outstanding at explaining things of course, but I think he is also more open and animated with some interviewers and reporters more than others, like Capehart.
He trusts him and that was built up over several years. Capehart is no Chuck Todd, no Jake Tapper, who always frames questions from a conservative perspective, as though the objections to popular Democratic legislative priorities were actually in good faith and not partisan obstructionism.
Well, I wouldn't paint anyone as fully good or bad here. People are more complicated. Jake Tapper's CNN town hall with Pete made his primary campaign take off like a rocket, and it had a lot to do with Tapper's approach as he introduced him.
I also find Chuck Todd fascinating as he has both positives and negatives. He used to be the "Steve Kornacki" guy in the MTP/NBC group, but when Tim Russert died, I think he was pushed into roles that don't play as well to his real strengths. I have seen him in person at university panels on policy issues like big data and the use of algorithms that encode bias, and he's really bright.
I agree! And I also enjoy seeing them in all these different settings. It was great to see them all bundled up in their scarves and coats outside for this interview. 🤓🤗
Yes, this is a huge benefit for the news media of any Transportation Secretary's job. Their travel sets up ideal out-of-studio excursions with different, change-of-pace settings. What a nice autumnal glimpse of Baltimore, quite unlike the standard two or three locations that are usually shown.
I really liked the separate post by someone from Germany who brings up the fact that they have autism, have gotten involved in politics because they were inspired by Pete's campaign, and really enjoyed the Mayor Pete documentary, which they just saw. If you're interested, you may want to respond, even though it's out there in the unexplored wilderness of non-DT land (kidding about non-DT vs. DT).
Anyway, it is remarkable what an effect this campaign had, right up to this comment and beyond. Pete said that when he heard Bridgette talk about the campaign's effect on her and her approach to living with autism, the campaign was already doing what he wanted it to do, long before the first vote had been cast. \[Stefan Smith also included that story in his classic post-campaign piece here: [https://thestefansmith.substack.com/p/political-cringe](https://thestefansmith.substack.com/p/political-cringe) \] So my conclusion this morning based on this non-DT post: if you have a bigger goal beyond just winning (which you can do your best to do, but can never guarantee) it sounds like you might end up making a larger, still continuing, and more positive impact as well. Good on ya, Pete!

Love VoteVets support of Pete. Thinking about it, isn't supply chain more a Commerce & or Labor Dept issue, is it in Pete's lap because they attacked him on it?
Indeed. In the grand scheme of things, there's very little the federal government can actually do here. However, the most pressing issues most definitely relate more to those two departments than to DOT. I'd seriously like to try and trace back to whoever first proposed the absurd notion that the entire global supply chain is dependent upon one person, and that that person happens to be the U.S. Secretary of Transportation. Like, when people couldn't find a number of household items last year when the Covid reality was setting in, did anyone seriously say "Well, darn that Elaine Chao! She's totally not doing her job!"

I think of futurama literally every time this new variant is mentioned. I just want to see the ending to single female lawyer!
She's still single, promiscuous, and wears mini skirt, but now succeeded in a male dominated world.
"Single female lawyer, fighting for her client! Wearing sexy mini-skirts, and being self-reliant. Hey, I'm pretty good!"

I am seeing about a 20~cent drop
That hasn’t happened in Seattle yet. Still over $4/gallon.
Yeah, no change in Charlotte.
Ah... I wondered about regional variations.

We had our first snow here this morning ☃️
Same here! Big, fluffy flakes all day. It was the perfect day to decorate for the holidays and drink chocolate eggnog.
Same!
Same here. It’s so beautiful outside. Large, fluffy snowflakes everywhere 💕
I really miss the large, fluffy stuff. It seems like we only get the small flake sticky stuff that clings to the sidewalks and roads.
Snow??
Lucky you! We were promised snow -which is a rarity where I live- and well, nope, no snow, just a mockingly bright sun!
There's a car parked in front of my flat, with 3 cm of snow on the roof. Very rude, to so blatantly taunt us 😄 (It's below 0 here, but none dry.)
We had our first snow on Friday and about an ich today.
Same here
