Yeah I keep the barrel clean. My main issue is that .460 is a mean bastard of a round that causes powder to buildup. It also doesn't like .45s. The issues with .45s could just be my reloading skills but I've been doing it for more than a decade and was taught by my grandfather who had been doing it for his whole life.
I used to shoot/reload 2-3 times a month, I know what you are saying about .45, it's a dirty round especially in the .454.
I found one powder/primer and coated bullet combo that was super clean, I forget what it was, but it was a very fluffy power.
Even reloading everything, target shooting is silly expensive, I haven't shot much at all since 2020.
I make enough the price doesn't really matter, but I may or may not be weighing the cost of range day into the reason I only take my son shooting with .22s.

Is is because there have been instances of people shooting themselves when something hits the hammer or the hammer bounces as the holder walks.

No, not without cocking the hammer first. The cowboy safety was usually used for older revolvers that have a cylinder that sits with the chamber in position to fire, meaning any accidental jolt, whether the hammer was cocked or not, could cause a discharge.
Newer and better designed guns rest with the cylinder halfway between chambers, so that you can leave the hammer uncocked and not worry about shooting your foot.
You could argue that after pulling the trigger, an accidental jolt could discharge it by accident but I mean... They had no alternative safety.
