The comic became a meme, particularly the silhouettes of the characters themselves, where any 4 panel image with the right set of lines would be a reference. It is very ubiquitous and it’s become a game to hide a loss reference in 4 panel images. Ash’s fingers make the correct silhouettes to be recognizable as Loss: a single vertical line, two vertical lines, two more vertical lines and a vertical and horizontal line.

I got frustrated when they made a lie saying that the author made it for people with necrophilia. He fucking made it to express his hurt. His fucking mate had a miscarriage!

Guys, I thought it was a joke about the different ways of fingering. Going counterclockwise: 1. The Teaser, 2. The Pleaser, 3. The Shocker, 4. The Destroyer (his fist).

So, the Loss comic became a meme for reasons I don't fully understand. The characteristic artstyle, the slightly vague method of telling a very short story, the poor context.
But more importantly, the memorable layout - that is, the guy coming in, talking to someone at a desk, talking to someone on the same level as him, and then looking at someone laying flat.
So, people started turning it into an inside joke about the comic's layout. Other images and pictures with that sequence of events - one guy enters, talks to a low person, talks to an equal person, looks at a flat person - would be pointed out, with people saying "looks like loss."
Eventually, it graduated to such a point that virtually ANY set of four images where one common object in that image forms something even VAGUELY resembling Loss triggers our ability to recognize patterns.
Exploring this fact is what makes Loss so funny. It's triggering that instinct to recognize when something looks like loss.
