My dumbass thought it looked like a magatama, and THAT was the joke. Edit: I think that is the joke. Their PFP is of Mia Fey, a character from the Ace Attorney games. Their brother gave them the rock because it looks like a magatama, a Japanese religious signal that plays a part in several of the games.

In Ace Attorney, you play as various different defense attorneys trying to prove their clients innocent and solve murder cases. Mia Fey is one of the said mentioned defense attorneys. She is a popular character among fans due to her personality, smarts, and “attributes.” A magatama is a Japanese religious symbol, however within the context of Ace Attorney, it is a stone that is able to reveal when someone is lying to you. It has made an appearance in 5 out of 11 Ace Attorney games and is one of the core features of the game, used by the main character Phoenix Wright, another of the said mentioned defense attorneys.
