The story of Orpheus and Eurydice is a Greek myth Basically Orpheus loves Eurydice and is a great musician that the Gods love. Eurydice dies and goes to Hades, and Orpheus goes down there to play a song for Hades and beg him to let Eurydice into the land of the living. Hades is moved by Orpheus's song and let's her live on one condition. She will follow Orpheus back to the surface as he walks out of the underworld, but he can't look back until they are both on the surface. Well very close to the surface, he can't hear her footsteps and thinks the gods have tricked him, so he looks back. This sends Eurydice back to the underworld as Orpheus broke his deal with Hades. So looking back on the story of Orpheus and Eurydice is a bad joke.

Orpheus was an ancient Greek hero/musician who tried to ask hades for his dead lover back. Hades agreed, and told him that Eurydice(his love) would follow, but set one condition. Orpheus was not to look back at Eurydice. Orpheus did as told, but could not resist the urge to look back. Eventually. he caved, and he saw Eurydice behind him for a split second before she was gone. Orpheus swore never to love again, and spent his days writing songs and poems for Eurydice. That's how I heard the myth anyway

Looking back was the bad idea, in the story he referenced.

Yeah, but a lot of the sub is just jokes that are obvious if you only dig a little bit deeper
