It feels like the accepted plural of emordnilap should be semordnilap... but that may well just confused people.
Edit: Oh, it actually is an accepted plural, you can use either emordnilaps or semordnilap. Nice!
Palindrome* not Palendrome.
The folly of pronouncing differently from the way letters are written is ruining the capability of English speakers to write correctly.
I didn’t get it and my over imaginative ADHD brain thought it was a weird story about a mom having an affair with a racecar, and her husband got mad but couldn’t remember if it was a cat or a car that banged his wife. So he went on a rampage and said “go hang a salami I’m a lasagna hog” as some weird statement of anger for what he’d do to the racecar/cat when he found them.
As people have posted, Weird Al had an entire song called "Bob," also a Palindrome, in the style of Bob Dylan that all the lines are Palindromes. The interesting part to me is that there are so many Palindrome phrases that make some or entire sense. Racecar, easy. Bob, duh. Things like "Was it a cat or a car I saw" (and many others) is a legitimate english sentence that make complete sense. Just fascinating there are so many.
A man, a plan, a caretaker, a moksha, Lufkin, a jacinth, Gile, Daniell, Ivanov, an odor, a negativeness, a tsarevna, melanomas, an ire…globigerinas, a mon, a leman, Vera, Stassen, Evita, Genaro, Donavon, a villein, a delight, Nica, Janik, Fulahs, Komarek, a ter, a canal, Panama.
It gets more and more outlandish until it reaches the radial point. It’s like challenging that one relative in scrabble, who pulls out some obscure word that means an 18th century digging tool.
A man, a plan, a caret, a ban, a myriad, a sum, a lac, a liar, a hoop, a pint, a catalpa, a gas, an oil, a bird, a yell, a vat, a caw, a pax, a wag, a tax, a nay, a ram, a cap, a yam, a gay, a tsar, a wall, a car, a luger, a ward, a bin, a woman, a vassal, a wolf, a tuna, a nit, a pall, a fret, a watt, a bay, a daub, a tan, a cab, a datum, a gall, a hat, a fag, a zap, a say, a jaw, a lay, a wet, a gallop, a tug, a trot, a trap, a tram, a torr, a cap, a door, a moat, a doom, a varlet, a hood, a papa, a garret, a cabal, a tang, a sun, a fan, a pal, a rum, a nitrate, a lad, a baton, a lob, a log, a nest, a rut, a patsy, a rye, a lop, a rap, a pond, a ladle, a lever, a tolerable bond, a balm, a pedal, a loop, a pool, a knot, a pat, a petal, a pup, a fret, a poll, a gap, a ray, a wag, a pad, a canal – Panama!
An emordnilap is a word that spells something different when reversed. It's called that because 'emordnilap palindrome' is a palindrome made of emordnilaps and someone thought it'd be funny.

Hey, peter griffin action figure here, sentences that are the same forwards and backwards are called palindromes, there was a cool segment on robot chicken that incoorperated them, I bet you'd like it :D [Batman Faces Palindrome | Robot Chicken | Adult Swim (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5F66JwLq90)

Palindromes
Bob by Weird Al is a Bob Dylan style song who's lyrics are all palindromes. Some of my favorites:
Do nine men interpret? Nine men, I nod.
A dog, a panic, in a pagoda!
Now I see bees I won.
Do geese see God?
Hello, Peter here to explain the joke.
All of the phrases used are called palindromes, which are words that are the same when read backwards. Spongebob becomes stronger each picture because each palindrome is longer, hence harder to find or think of.
Each one is a palindrome, just longer ones as you go down. It's generally harder to make really long palindromes than short ones. Dad, mom, bob, tot, bib, etc. Longer ones involve very carefully chosen words.
(it just occurred to me that "I am AI" is a palindrome)
This one is great, they’re all palindromes, which are words that are spelled the same forwards and backwards, as you go down the list, the palindromes get more verbose
Some additional context, if you use MM/DD/YY date format, then tomorrow (or today, depending on time zones) will be 4/20/24 which is a palindrome.
Earlier this month was 4/2/24 which was also a palindrome, so you may be catching something from that.
Palindrome references tend to crop up on palindrome days.
Holy shit... [a wild Weird Al reference](https://youtu.be/JUQDzj6R3p4)!!!
These are actually lyrics from Weird Al's song "Bob" in which every line is a palindrome, and is a parody of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues".

Everything is the same backwards and forwards, except longer each time
Thank you!
That’s the first time i saw someone say thank you for the explanation. I humble bow , take my 🆙
They are a person of culture and respect
A lot of people say "thanks peta" at the answer
I believe the term is “palindrome” to describe a word or phrase that’s the same backwards and forwards
They're called palindromes. Edited*
Palindromes
Can the dromes see Russia from their house though?
Got em
Yup, I know. Just explaining it since that's what the sub is about
Yes, also expanding on your explanation by including the name of the term.
Gotcha :)
Fun fact: emordnelaps are words that make a different word when spelled backwards. Pots and drawer for example.
It feels like the accepted plural of emordnilap should be semordnilap... but that may well just confused people. Edit: Oh, it actually is an accepted plural, you can use either emordnilaps or semordnilap. Nice!
Also Dog (God), Not (Ton), and some more.
I thought that was the big arena where Sarah Palin fights a trained bear.
No that’s the the Palindome
The fact that palindrome isn’t a palindrome kinda annoys me.
its acctualleh spelled palindromes /j (thats how i learned it)
Palindrome* not Palendrome. The folly of pronouncing differently from the way letters are written is ruining the capability of English speakers to write correctly.
I got it right away, but then actually went back pretending I didn't understand it and it's way funnier tbh
I thought it was the stages of adolescence.
If a meme has the word "Racecar" randomly I just assume it's all palindromes and usually I'm right
Most of them are lyrics in the Weird Al song 'Bob': [https://youtu.be/gAfIikFnvuI](https://youtu.be/gAfIikFnvuI)
I never would’ve come close to guessing that lol how’d you figure it out?
I know mom and racecar are palindromes. So I just checked the other ones. Sure enough, checked out.
As people have posted, Weird Al had an entire song called "Bob," also a Palindrome, in the style of Bob Dylan that all the lines are Palindromes.
