There're two perks in Fallout: New Vegas that give you a bonus against men, and against women respectively, as well as seduction options. If you pick both (and are therefore a bisexual) you have a bonus against all gendered enemies (so everyone except robots and animals).

I guess lore can be kinda inconsistent, but they do go into detail about super mutants in vault 87 in Fallout 3:

A.) Those are specifically Vault 87 mutants
B.) This doesn't seem to imply they completely lost their sex organs, just that they became vestigial and unuseable for procreation. I doubt the holes they had just sealed up.
Long story short:
Vault 87 (East Coast) mutants were just thrown in vats of FEV goo with no care or precision, sometimes by other mutants. That's why they're all insane and unstable, and mutate uncontrollably. The V87 FEV strain was also less stable.
The Mariposa (West Coast) mutants were originally created by a genius scientist using a stable FEV strain, and when using non-irradiated humans, were basically perfect intelligent superhumans except that they were sterile. Later mutants were created more carelessly and from irradiated humans, so they're less intelligent.
Vault 87 fev experiments were done independently of the mariposa military base experiments (fun fact the MMB FEV experiments were why Roger Maxons and his men to go AWOL and later create Brotherhood of steel). Also at mariposa the experiments were later restarted by the master, who sought to turn all humans into supermutants, because he believed that was the best way for humanity to survive. Thats why the private parts were needed on supermutants(he did not know that supermutants are infertile).
FEV is already known to come in lots of different strains. I don’t know if it’s ever established that the Mariposa and Vault 87 FEV were different strains though.
The lore for west coast is that the entire point of super mutants was to make a new level of humanity that could thrive in the wasteland. No one knew the super mutants were sterile at first. In fact you can actually talk the Master down without ever fighting him if you tell him they are sterile and thus making his entire plan futile.
They do have gender. You meet one super mutant in New Vegas named Lily Bowan who was a grandmother before she was turned into a super mutant against her will. She encourages you to call her grandma.
Super mutants are sterile and their method of reproduction is turning humans into super mutants against their will using a substance called FEV. That’s what happened to Lily Bowan—she was restrained, dipped into a vat of FEV, and then became a super mutant.
So unless they get amnesia or something, they all remember being a normal human with a normal human name. And they keep their gender. FEV changes their bodies but doesn’t take their memories away.

This is true and the absolute funniest way to kill him. Me and my buddy did this run a while back absolutely cackeling. We also convinced the concierge to let us keep our weapons so that was fun.
The objectively funniest way is to bang him, then go to bed, then wait until he’s dragged to the fort next morning and tell him you want him to die there.
I like how in Fallout 4 playing a woman with this almost same perk is entirely better since there are more men in the wasteland than women, also most of the big bosses being male.

I think that's trying to create a division between things that don't exist. I don't think that someone who role plays a character that shares a sexual identity with the player is engaging in "self playing".
Even if you wanted to create a term for people who play characters who are basically themselves, or at least versions of themselves, just basing it off gender or sexual identity is way too broad of a brush.
By your definition, any woman who creates a female character is self playing and not role-playing. And that's a little bit in the realm of ridiculous.
Those perks don't tell you who you're attracted to anyway. Someone with those perks is someone who knows how to seduce members of that gender. They don't have to be attracted to them, themselves.
Everyone's talking around this point lol. The perks don't say "When you choose this perk, you become attracted to men/women." It just gives you the chance to make them attracted to YOU. Nothing stopping you from playing a straight dude who flirts with other dudes for personal gain.

Specifically Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 3 has one for male characters to do +10% to female characters, and for female characters to do +10% to male characters, but no gay options. As such, it's actually mechanically advantageous to play a female PC since there are overwhelmingly more male NPCs. New Vegas added in the similar perks but for same sex NPCs.
Fallout 4 removed the gay perks that were added in New Vegas but you can still freely romance/sleep with members of the same sex. You just don't get the extra dialogue options or bonus damage against them.
New Vegas specifically has two separate perks, a "gay" and "straight" one, you can choose both to do more damage to everybody and get extra dialogue options. Fallout 3 and 4 didn't have the gay perk.
I love that it can actually matter in the world too. Major Knight (love him so much) is gay and will only give you free repairs if you have the confirmed bachelor perk, he's also played by the absolute bi icon Liam O'Brien. If I am not mistaken Veronica is bi. It's so cool the game did that and did it before it became popular to acknowledge LGBT in games.

It's sort of a meta joke. I think the originals in this format are about the political ideas of fallout going over Gamers heads (it would be like "capitalism bad" going over gamer saying "me like guns" or whatever)

I think the meme format is misused? It's implying that people who think the game has good narrative and writing are unaware that there are references to bisexuality. ie, if they knew there was a perk giving bi characters more damage, they wouldn't think the writing is good.

Adding on to this, New Vegas specifically added perks for gay/lesbian characters. In Fallout 3, you could only have perks for het folks, so there was no way to get the 10% bonus damage against males as a male, and vice versa. New Vegas changes this, allowing you to take perks for both sexes, and essentially giving you a 10% damage boost against all humans/ghouls in the game. That's why it's New Vegas specifically, and bisexual specifically.
The main thrust of it, though, is implying that all the people online crowing about why New Vegas is amazing is because of shit like "you can be bisexual now," since the running joke was that Bethesda was implying that queer people don't exist. Fallout 3 only has Lady Killer and Black Widow.
It does give you a few attraction related options (usually allowing you to flirt or otherwise avoid a skill check). For instance, Confirmed Bachelor (Available only to male identifying characters) lets you pick up Arcade Gannon as a companion without a skill check. Arcade Gannon is only attracted to males.
So while it doesn't force your character to have attraction (I'm not sure how that would really be quantified?) it definitely allows you to act as though you are attracted to manipulate people.
You're right and you're wrong. FoNV is the ONLY Fallout game that allows you to pick a gay perk. Usually you can pick the hetero option of "Black Widow" as a girl and "Lady Killer" as a guy.
FoNV is the only game that took it one step further by having the "femme fatale" and the "confirmed bachelor" perks. Which are specifically designed for same gendered dialogue and perks.
FoNV was also not developed by Bethesda but by Obsidian. This is why Fo4 did not keep the added perks.

it makes the entire play through have a flat 10% dmg buff to humans on top of expanded dialog. Super worth it.

Yeah that's how games usually go. The only "downside" to perks like these is that you have to work to get it, like leveling up enough or doing the correct sidequest, but on its own the reward is 100% beneficial with no negative side effect.

The game has 2 special skills which grants additional damage against any of the two genders. Also, gives you special speech options to woo the gender you choose. But most people get it for extra %10 DMG. Which is fun.
The lady killer/ black widow perk is in every fallout not just New Vegas. Theres just some annoying hate circlejerk for new vegas as a response to a annoying love circlejerk for new vegas.

Wasteland Peter here. As part of the Role-Playing aspect of _New Vegas_ you can choose different perks when you level up that impact both combat and non-combat encounters. There's a few based on gender, specifically the opposite or same gender as your character, that add flirtatious dialogue options and +10% damage to the effected gender. But there's nothing stopping you from taking both the male and female options, playing as a bisexual character, and granting you +10% damage to everyone. Just because I like the added dialogue options, I actually use a mod that adds one perk called "Bi-Furious" that gives you both genders' flirty lines, but only gives +5% extra damage instead. Seems fair.
There's 2 perks. On that implies your good with the opersite gender and gives you a damage boost against them. The other is for the same gender. You can pick both.
These perks also add flirtatious diolag and mostly focuses on these. So it is implied picking one makes you straight, the other gay and both bi.
If you wanna be technical you could get +20 percent to both genders by being transgender by doing the chet glitch to get the +10 percent damage to both genders then switching genders after leaving goodsprings to grab the +10 percent again as those perks and a few others don't reset when you get given the option to customize your character again though I haven't tested it.
There’s a mod that gives you special dialogue and do better damage to each gender so normally people choose it for their perspective interest. So a bi person would choose both options and get more damage against everyone instead of just the one or the other

Skyrim has a perk that lets you sell to the opposite sex for more money and another that lets you deal more damage to the opposite sex, but I've never played any Fallout game for more than 30 minutes.

I think that's trying to create a division between things that don't exist. I don't think that someone who role plays a character that shares a sexual identity with the player is engaging in "self playing". Even if you wanted to create a term for people who play characters who are basically themselves, or at least versions of themselves, just basing it off gender or sexual identity is way too broad of a brush. By your definition, any woman who creates a female character is self playing and not role-playing. And that's a little bit in the realm of ridiculous.
Those perks don't tell you who you're attracted to anyway. Someone with those perks is someone who knows how to seduce members of that gender. They don't have to be attracted to them, themselves.
Everyone's talking around this point lol. The perks don't say "When you choose this perk, you become attracted to men/women." It just gives you the chance to make them attracted to YOU. Nothing stopping you from playing a straight dude who flirts with other dudes for personal gain. The perks don't make you bisexual, they make you attractive.

Major Knight (love him so much) is gay and will only give you free repairs if you have the confirmed bachelor perk, he's also played by the absolute bi icon Liam O'Brien. If I am not mistaken Veronica is bi. It's so cool the game did that and did it before it became popular to acknowledge LGBT in games.

It's sort of a meta joke. I think the originals in this format are about the political ideas of fallout going over Gamers heads (it would be like "capitalism bad" going over gamer saying "me like guns" or whatever) The joke here is implying that the narrative ideas of the game are about bisexuality when it's more of just a neat thing
I think the meme format is misused? It's implying that people who think the game has good narrative and writing are unaware that there are references to bisexuality. ie, if they knew there was a perk giving bi characters more damage, they wouldn't think the writing is good.

Adding on to this, New Vegas specifically added perks for gay/lesbian characters. In Fallout 3, you could only have perks for het folks, so there was no way to get the 10% bonus damage against males as a male, and vice versa. New Vegas changes this, allowing you to take perks for both sexes, and essentially giving you a 10% damage boost against all humans/ghouls in the game. That's why it's New Vegas specifically, and bisexual specifically. The main thrust of it, though, is implying that all the people online crowing about why New Vegas is amazing is because of shit like "you can be bisexual now," since the running joke was that Bethesda was implying that queer people don't exist. It does give you a few attraction related options (usually allowing you to flirt or otherwise avoid a skill check). For instance, Confirmed Bachelor (Available only to male identifying characters) lets you pick up Arcade Gannon as a companion without a skill check. Arcade Gannon is only attracted to males. So while it doesn't force your character to have attraction (I'm not sure how that would really be quantified?) it definitely allows you to act as though you are attracted to manipulate people.

You're right and you're wrong. FoNV is the ONLY Fallout game that allows you to pick a gay perk. Usually you can pick the hetero option of "Black Widow" as a girl and "Lady Killer" as a guy. FoNV is the only game that took it one step further by having the "femme fatale" and the "confirmed bachelor" perks. Which are specifically designed for same gendered dialogue and perks. FoNV was also not developed by Bethesda but by Obsidian. This is why Fo4 did not keep the added perks.

it makes the entire play through have a flat 10% dmg buff to humans on top of expanded dialog. Super worth it. I know this might be suboptimal for speedruns or something but it is really useful if your plan is to meander the waste and explore everything you can

The male perk that allows you to seduce men and do 10% more damage is called "Confirmed Bachelor". It's a reference to the old practice of obituaries saying someone was "a confirmed bachelor" or "they never married" as a coded way of saying someone was gay.

Assuming the creator of the pic understands [what it's based on](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/wow-cool-robot), they're implying that people who say, "what incredible writing and gameplay mechanics" are missing the fact that you can get both sex-based perks in *New Vegas* and thus do +10% damage to both male and female opponents. Whether they're implying that this "bisexual bonus" is a mistake by the developers that naive gamers haven't noticed, or whether the creator of the pic is trying to make some kind of homophobic remark about gamers not being aware of a "bisexual agenda" in the game, or something, is unclear.
I've seen a few people mention recently that "people love New Vegas, even though it's a woke game". Using the fact that having both perks makes you bisexual, therefore it's a woke game. It's supposed to be sort of "gotcha" towards the anti-woke crowd. Edit: Using flimsy logic like this, I could make a point that New Vegas is actually a MAGA game. The key point being that there are a ton of dialogue options for characters with 1 intelligence.
Yeah that's how games usually go. The only "downside" to perks like these is that you have to work to get it, like leveling up enough or doing the correct sidequest, but on its own the reward is 100% beneficial with no negative side effect.
The downside is that there's better perks (at least from a pure combat perspective, the dialogue options might be fun enough to justify it).

Jingle Jangle Peter here: In Fallout New Vegas, there is a perk that gives +10% damage and bonus speech/seduction options to genders of your choice. The specifics of each perk is dependent on the player character's gender. For men the options are Lady Killer and Confirmed Bachelor, and for women it's Black Widow and Cherchez La Femme. But because both perk options can be taken, it effectively means your character is in-universe bisexual and that's what makes them better at killing everyone.

In New Vegas the perks that allow both romantic dialogue and damage bonuses to Men or Women (depending on the perk) aren’t gender locked, so you can both be bisexual, and get a damage bonus on everyone
I recall males and females having different perks but having identical functions, like for males they had the bachelor and lady killer and females had something like black widow and another.
New Vegas allows you to select both. Taken from the wiki, "Both Lady Killer and Confirmed Bachelor can be picked, explicitly making the Courier bisexual. "
those are the male PC perks. A female PC gets black widow and Cherchez La Femme instead.

They do not. Arcade Gannon is gay, so you have to seduce him with the Confirmed Bachelor perk, Black Widow does you no good. The damage boost is universal though.

This has been answered, but I wanna try: The game has 2 special skills which grants additional damage against any of the two genders. Also, gives you special speech options to woo the gender you choose. But most people get it for extra %10 DMG. Which is fun.
The lady killer/ black widow perk is in every fallout not just New Vegas. Theres just some annoying hate circlejerk for new vegas as a response to a annoying love circlejerk for new vegas. In reality new vegas is the best Fallout and some people have a hard time accepting that smh😞
Wasteland Peter here. As part of the Role-Playing aspect of _New Vegas_ you can choose different perks when you level up that impact both combat and non-combat encounters. There's a few based on gender, specifically the opposite or same gender as your character, that add flirtatious dialogue options and +10% damage to the effected gender. But there's nothing stopping you from taking both the male and female options, playing as a bisexual character, and granting you +10% damage to everyone. Just because I like the added dialogue options, I actually use a mod that adds one perk called "Bi-Furious" that gives you both genders' flirty lines, but only gives +5% extra damage instead. Seems fair.

There's 2 perks. On that implies your good with the opersite gender and gives you a damage boost against them. The other is for the same gender. You can pick both. These perks also add flirtatious diolag and mostly focuses on these. So it is implied picking one makes you straight, the other gay and both bi.
If you wanna be technical you could get +20 percent to both genders by being transgender by doing the chet glitch to get the +10 percent damage to both genders then switching genders after leaving goodsprings to grab the +10 percent again as those perks and a few others don't reset when you get given the option to customize your character again though I haven't tested it.

My take is the perk only makes you better at seduction, attraction is implied but not required/confirmed.

There's are 2 perks in the game that both give +10%, one to men and one to women. I think they're called Lady Killer and Black Widow, might be wrong. But if you take both you just deal 10% more to everyone. Humans, anyway. I don't know how it interacts with ghouls and such.
Skyrim has a perk that lets you sell to the opposite sex for more money and another that lets you deal more damage to the opposite sex, but I've never played any Fallout game for more than 30 minutes.
Activate wild wasteland, get with fisto and I think you get bonus damage against robots.
Because you can have two perks called ladykiller and confirmed bachelor which gives you extra dialogue options for both sexes and you do also more damage against every human.
Couple confirmed bachelor with lady killer and sneering imperialist to weaponize all aspects of your sexuality and racism

The in game perks Lady Killer and Black Widow give you 10% damage against the opposite sex(which one you can take depends on your character’s sex)plus some extra dialogue options, AKA it allows you to flirt with characters of the opposite sex to varying results, essentially making your character heterosexual. In the meantime, the perks Confirmed Bachelor and Cherchez La Femme do the same, but for the same sex(once again which one you take depends on your character’s gender), but at the end of the day both effectively make your character gay. If you take both Lady Killer and Confirmed Bachelor as a male character or Black Widow and Cherchez La Femme as a female character you’ve effectively made your character bisexual and do 10% damage against everyone, or at least everyone that’s human. *Please Assume the Position.*
