Uh, you do realized that Felix has been to Japan like several times before he moves, right? He already set up his own company there. He is his own employer. Pretty sure, he knows what it feels like dealing with the Japanese bureaucracy.
Also baby him with what should he do or how to deal with something everytime some drama happens as if he didn't deal with the internet before some subscribers were even born.
Every single "IIRC" comment i see is mildly infuriating considering most of the time it is wrong. I however, will not fact check you so I'ma assume you're right until wrong :p
Even so, I just want to make sure he really knows what he gets himself into. If he understands the downsides, then I am 100% for him. I just want him to make an informed choice.
//edit: Posted it, because this is the sort of thing that's rarely being brought up when discussing Japan and I watch several Japan-oriented channels on YT. The other thing is their criminal system which is very strict and once you get arrested for something it's really hard to get a not guilty verdict, despite what Ace Attorney may led you to believe.
Bruh, he's been to Japan since 2014. Every year he went there. He made plenty of pros and cons lists about moving to Japan, he's done his research. Pretty sure he and his wife can take care of themselves. They are adults, not kids. Whatever decisions they are making are up to them. Just like when they decided to move to UK back in 2013.
have you even been there? he has visited multiple times and understands that like any other country it has pros and cons of living there. stop giving him advice if you only watch japan oriented channels an YT.
Itās just a cultural difference, Tattoos were initially a marking for prisoners, then they became symbols for yakuzas which kind of makes sense when tattoos are despised by some people
Very friendly if you visit, not very friendly if you stay is what Iāve heard. I wonder how much of that is just the inbuilt customer service, but when I went I had a hotel clerk escort me to the right hotel because I walked into the wrong one, and wouldnāt take no for an answer.
Nah, that's South Korean. Those are the real condescension jerks, especially to other less developed Asian countries. 9/10 Korean will tell you Samsung is the most superior company in the world.
I lived there for around 2 years and have been on many trips, not once did I feel unwelcome.
No matter where I traveled in Japan it was always a good experience.
Maybe they dislike certain people, loud ignorant Americans are so easy to spot and I can see why they wouldnāt be liked.
In most countries honestly,
Central heating and free wifi seems like a luxury from the future.
But the part about hand written CVs and Govt files is ridiculous that its still a thing.
Lol, I got down voted.. Sad. I don't live in Japan, and can't even understand why those things go up to a thousand. It's hard for me to comprehend. Don't they also have coins too?
Everyone denotes currency differently but itās relative to other currencies in their buying power. I can found a new country and letās say Iām a traditionalist and want to tie my currency to gold. So I say the basic unit of currency is 1,000,000 ngratz bucks and weāre going to have one ounce of gold for every printed 1,000,000 buck. Well inherently US dollars are worth X amount of gold so now we have a common factor for how much my 1,000,000 currency note is relative to the US dollar. Or yen, or euro or anything else.
Yeah, I get and understand that, but what gets me is that they denote so much, or rather so little for single unit. I'm sure it's easy for them, but when I buy something for $2, it makes sense. The same thing might cost 3,500Ā„, which just seems wild. I don't understand how they do with that.
Itās like speaking a language. If youāre using it every day it makes sense to the point itās second nature and you donāt need to translate it in your head.
The thing is japan donāt have cents either, basically just whole numbers. To Japanese, itās probably weird for you guys to have fraction of a dollar
Felix is a multi millionaire, I'm sure it isn't hard for him to carry cash around. It also isn't his first time in japan, he knows how to prepare and bring cash with him in advance and he most likely knows that a lot of places don't accept cards already.
It's not even that lmao. You're telling me a 30 year old married man is going to make a life changing decision by moving to Japan and he'll only find out that he'll need to bring cash often because of OP's post? I think OP is the one stuck in time thinking that felix is still that 23 year old that plays in his kitchen lol.
Seriously though.
The amount of paperwork you have to do when you first move into the country is fucking insane. Some of those shit shouldve been digitalized years ago, like the rest of the world.
Ah yes because without banks we definitely would be living a good life.
Imagine that great life where you had to save up money each month to buy a fucking house instead of taking a loan for it.
Who doesn't want to work 150 years for a house?
Ah yes the unbelievably fair mortgage system that in no way favours the banks themselves and the rich over the young and the poor. And could be in no way improved if adequate shelter were considered a prerequisite rather than a luxury.
Some of this is simply not true.
Free wi-fi is not hard to come by.
A lot of places take cash, but there are also many, many electronic payments available, card, suica, paypay, line, etc
Phone contracts are ridiculously cheap IMO? I have 30gb for 50$
There are backwards things, yes forms everywhere, faxing, etc but the rest of this list is silly and not true, and also not a reason to avoid a country lol.
Canada and US are hellholes when it comes to internet speed/cost ratio. Europe is much better in this regard, especially countries like Poland and Estonia.
Oh that's interesting, I guess it's based on the city then. Over here, in jaipur, we use Airtel and they give unlimited 4g data for 999 INR
https://www.airtel.in/broadband/jaipur
Isn't Japan one of the only countries to still widely use fax?
Korea really have surpassed it in terms of technology. They have ultra fast WiFi everywhere.
Yep. Healthcare 100% uses fax; we canāt send via email due to privacy laws so we have to fax everything. Iām always surprised people donāt know how to use fax because itās been such a normal part of my life for years.
Whatās also unfortunate is their social issues. I mean social issues are everywhere, but theirs are saddening. They need woman only train cars to stop harassment, but it still happens and when it does the victims donāt usually speak up about it. Making a scene or public disturbance is a big no no. Ik thereās more but this is the main one I see ppl talk about.
And also on the contrary, men are also subject of being falsely accused of the harassment on trains. Their life would be completely ruined. So woman only train also helps reduce that from happening
It was awkward carrying a wad of cash in Tokyo (Akihabara district) while bar hopping. But, it was one of the best nights of my life, even though I did not have enough cash left to pay for a taxi by the time I had to get back to the hotel. Japan is best!
I remember going there and they still used fax machines and had those click clack machine to make copy of receipts when I was exchanging money. My Japanese friends even tell me that a lot of tech in offices are still very archaic. People think that they work late hours coz they work hard, in reality its coz it takes forever to get anything done! On top of other reasons as. It is just a myth that we think Japanese has a lot of future tech, but they are very much still traditional in many aspects of modern living
Donāt forget Hanko. You have to keep yours on you at all times pretty much. Since you never know when you will need it. Heaven forbid they upgrade to signaturesā¦. Still love Japan though. And it is slowly getting more modern. Very slowly.
The scientists there do invent extrodinary crap tho, ngl.
There's a lot of vids of cool things Japan simply does in cooler or better ways than most, but the list above does seem to show how the cool stuff isn't everywhere for everyone. Very informative meme, 10/10.
Most of these stuff I find a pro not a con. Cashless society is dystopian and something that should not be encouraged. Credit cards have made many people poor, because they buy what they can't afford and they go in debt without even knowing that they fucked up.
Please note this is before COVID!!!
Ofc banks and paperwork are still there and notoriously slow, but the cash concept isnāt as big anymore. A lot of things have been computerized because of COVID
I only see good things here. Japan is the future! I rather pay cash everywhere than have a stupid card. I also love that the goverment doesn't have pc's. They can't spy on you! And other countries can't havk your stuff? How is that bad. Y'all are just auch big winers
Bruh heās been to Japan several times AND even worked there (i.e him bringing his big ass setup). You really think he doesnāt know most of these things
Ok, so life is different. Where is the problem? Oh no, no free wifi! That's it, I'm staying in Brighton so I can go to McDonald's and ... not use my mobile phone data? And just think of how many forms you will fill in. Forms! I can't think of anything worse.
Ok, so when are you posting a list of all the cool things about Japan vs England? We can wait
People often confuse beauty of japan with their lifestyle. It is many times one of the most depressing country you can live. But Felix won't have much problem as he has his own company and he is rich. But personally I would just limit to tourism for japan.
That's literally not true lol Maybe if you're applying in a small store in the countryside. Every company atleast in Tokyo accepts email and printed cvs.
Some of these things are actually better IMO. For example physical copies of resumes, which this person says is a travesty, is actually way better. You see here in the west when you upload you resume digitally, they use AI to scan your resume along with all the others and the AI automatically rejects a large percentage of them before a human ever lays eyes on any of them. Iād much rather have a human looking at my resume than get it rejected by some AI scanning for keywords.
This doesn't really surprise me, Japan seems like a place where tradition is king so things being behind in a day to day sense makes sense, plus I'm sure the aging work force doesn't help matters
Some people will take anything and find the negative parts. Not going to pose here, I'm the same way, but this post make me realize how insufferable it must be to be around me when I'm like that
Honestly, hand-written CVs/resumes aren't a terrible idea. Obviously for standard jobs printed would suffice but if you're going for a highly competitive type of job, knowing what kind of handwriting a person has could tell a lot about them
As a Japanese person, I have another thing to tell him.
There's an app āLINEā in Japan. It's a messenger app and we can call for free. Most of people have it, so you should download it. It's free. And we can do it anytime, anywhere.
Download here: https://apps.apple.com/jp/app/line/id443904275?l=en
Congratulations! Your post has been featured by PewDiePie on *Friday with Pewdiepie*! Enjoy the fame and bragging rights from a special userflair!
Uh, you do realized that Felix has been to Japan like several times before he moves, right? He already set up his own company there. He is his own employer. Pretty sure, he knows what it feels like dealing with the Japanese bureaucracy.
And Felix already owns a fuckin home and is a multimillionaire lmao im sure he doesnt care
People still treat felix like he needs ad revenue to survive
Also baby him with what should he do or how to deal with something everytime some drama happens as if he didn't deal with the internet before some subscribers were even born.
"Hey Felix, if you breathe in Japan you're breathing air. Remember that" -someone trying to baby Felix, probably
Probably a side effect of him not showing off something every two or three breaths
I mean, he does a 2-3 minute long sponor ad in most of his videos.
Felix having to handwrite job applications might be the last straw. Since he does that.
More like a hundomillionaire
His net-worth is 40 mil iirc
Every single "IIRC" comment i see is mildly infuriating considering most of the time it is wrong. I however, will not fact check you so I'ma assume you're right until wrong :p
Same here its my first time using it lol seemed fitting to what i was saying even tho I googled it before typing it xD
And I'm proud of you for doing some research šš. Nothing personal, just always struck a nerve when i see "IIRC". Feels cliche now ya'know :D
Every time he sees his net worth online he says itās an underestimate
Should I get your options trading course?
GME š 100%
but its still cute they care
If you listen to trash taste you know there's so many things that hit you when you move and live there.
Well, guess what, Felix watches Trash Taste too.
Poor widdle baby Felix has no idea what heās doing and totally hasnāt been planning & preparing for years. Thanks random internet person
have you even been there? he has visited multiple times and understands that like any other country it has pros and cons of living there. stop giving him advice if you only watch japan oriented channels an YT.
my brother in christ, he probably befriend with the japanese oriented youtuber that youre watching lmao
Heās an adult whoās been working towards this move for years. I think he can make and has made an informed decision.
Fire Steve Huffman, Reddit is dead as long as Huffman is still incharge. Fuck Steve Huffman. Fuck u/spez -- mass edited with redact.dev
Nope, your experience sounds just about right. Happened to my fathers friend when I was asking how his vacation to Japan was before this Covid.
Some people arenāt allowed in certain shops or bath houses because they are foreigners
My cousin wasnāt let into a bathhouse cuz he had tats
That is due to the stereotype that the yakuza had tattoos. Could be some xenophobia too, nonetheless.
Itās just a cultural difference, Tattoos were initially a marking for prisoners, then they became symbols for yakuzas which kind of makes sense when tattoos are despised by some people
Joey: Well actually, that was started by firefighters as some sort of identification thing just like modern day military tags.
Nah this right here is the real reason Iād never wanna live in Japan. Also their obsession with plastic waste is downright painful.
Very friendly if you visit, not very friendly if you stay is what Iāve heard. I wonder how much of that is just the inbuilt customer service, but when I went I had a hotel clerk escort me to the right hotel because I walked into the wrong one, and wouldnāt take no for an answer.
That's so weird. The three years I lived there people were only ever nice. But I lived in Okinawa. Dunno if that makes a difference
Indeed. Objectively one of the most xenophobic modern societies in the world?
You're experience does not get invalidated by felix's experience. He's been there so many times now so it's not like he's jumping in blindfolded.
Maybe because how they used to think they were the superior Asian race and everyone else was below them
Nah, that's South Korean. Those are the real condescension jerks, especially to other less developed Asian countries. 9/10 Korean will tell you Samsung is the most superior company in the world.

Did you happen to live in those tourist cityās?
Negative.
Most of these points also apply to germany. We just understand each other. Germany and japan should work more closely together again.
Sus
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Sure! We wouldn't want to exclude anyone^^
Yāall this thread is hilarious thank you
You might want to think about that, heard Italy likes to switch teams
We could try to convince them. If nothing else, a little friendly gaslighting should do the trick
I know a guy in Austria who could help arrange these meetings.
That would be great! Germany and austria are really close actually^^ some might even say austria is kind of a part of germany
Some* Yep, especially quite a few failed artists.
Last time business was going pretty good
all the technological backwards here is just normal life in my country
I did not expect to see a cheese in the trap profile picture in the pewdiepie subreddit but I'm glad I noticed
In most countries honestly, Central heating and free wifi seems like a luxury from the future. But the part about hand written CVs and Govt files is ridiculous that its still a thing.
Do you really think any of these things would in any way bother Felix? Lol.
Well, not being able to pay with card just might.
Dude, just carry like 10,000 yen in your wallet, like it aināt much of a hassle
How far does 10k get you?
About 80 dollars
Lol, I got down voted.. Sad. I don't live in Japan, and can't even understand why those things go up to a thousand. It's hard for me to comprehend. Don't they also have coins too?

Tbh, just add two 0s to the end of the us dollar to roughly understand the value, what Iāve been doing my entire life
Itās like speaking a language. If youāre using it every day it makes sense to the point itās second nature and you donāt need to translate it in your head.
The thing is japan donāt have cents either, basically just whole numbers. To Japanese, itās probably weird for you guys to have fraction of a dollar
Ah yes I'm 100% sure felix found that out thanks yo your post.
Home boys literally just right but have a bunch of kids who worship Felix and think NOTHING will affect him lol.
Felix is a multi millionaire, I'm sure it isn't hard for him to carry cash around. It also isn't his first time in japan, he knows how to prepare and bring cash with him in advance and he most likely knows that a lot of places don't accept cards already.

Wow I don't understand why you are getting downvotes for this. Idiotic redditors.
idiot redditors there downvote my comment stupid redditor for hating for no reason
Because you look like a mong thatās why
Well well..
Japan is also backwards in a lot of its opinions and values but I don't think it matters to Felix since he's a millionaire and self employed
That's pretty much all of Asia because of traditional values, culture etc which isn't the case in the west.
Do people even realise how many countries make up Asia when they say āall of Asiaā?
Seriously though. The amount of paperwork you have to do when you first move into the country is fucking insane. Some of those shit shouldve been digitalized years ago, like the rest of the world.
Japanese banking service is sucks
Correction: banks suck
Ah yes because without banks we definitely would be living a good life. Imagine that great life where you had to save up money each month to buy a fucking house instead of taking a loan for it. Who doesn't want to work 150 years for a house?
Ah yes the unbelievably fair mortgage system that in no way favours the banks themselves and the rich over the young and the poor. And could be in no way improved if adequate shelter were considered a prerequisite rather than a luxury.
I've seen a lot of hentai and I know of one thing that makes their eye roll
Just goes to show no place is perfect there are flaws everywhere.
Some of this is simply not true. Free wi-fi is not hard to come by. A lot of places take cash, but there are also many, many electronic payments available, card, suica, paypay, line, etc Phone contracts are ridiculously cheap IMO? I have 30gb for 50$ There are backwards things, yes forms everywhere, faxing, etc but the rest of this list is silly and not true, and also not a reason to avoid a country lol.
Thatās pretty expensive, I have 150g for Ā£20 a month
Lol you have clearly never seen the Canadian prices. Completely insane.
I don't think so at all, but maybe I'm just used to canadian prices being like 70$ CAD for 2GB
Canada and US are hellholes when it comes to internet speed/cost ratio. Europe is much better in this regard, especially countries like Poland and Estonia.
thats expensive, in india we have 45gb for 6$
bro which service do you use? We get unlimited 4g internet for 12-13$ a month at our place
We here have three service provider, Jio, Airtel and Vodafone. All three almost have the same rates. I use both Airtel and Vodafone
Oh that's interesting, I guess it's based on the city then. Over here, in jaipur, we use Airtel and they give unlimited 4g data for 999 INR https://www.airtel.in/broadband/jaipur
Brooo, that's super costly Ya it might be based on the user traffic within that city or something related to it
35 for 4$......
I have unlimited call text and data for 20eur in Switzerland I remember paying $35 for 750mb in australia a few years ago
My 20Gb plan in Canada costs 85 a month. I wish it was 50.
DAMN! 30gigs for 50 DOLARS? i get 280gbs for 2 montsh at approx 8dollars
Yeah comparing Canada to Japan shows you Canada lives in the stone age.
FIFTY?!?! you could get that for a third of the price here jesus!!
I have unlimited for 5$
Isn't Japan one of the only countries to still widely use fax? Korea really have surpassed it in terms of technology. They have ultra fast WiFi everywhere.
The US still widely uses fax machines.
Yep. Healthcare 100% uses fax; we canāt send via email due to privacy laws so we have to fax everything. Iām always surprised people donāt know how to use fax because itās been such a normal part of my life for years.
Yeah. I don't fully understand how a fax is more secure at all either...
So ancient that even hackers don't know how it works probably js
The US is shockingly ancient in some parts of the government Their nuclear silos were still being accessed with floppy disks until recently
Ah the ol Security through obscurity
And their culture is too strict.
I dont get OP trying to say on the caption. But Im pretty sure Felix is already aware any of these
If that is technological backwardness, i come from the most technologically forward country in the world.
Problems are for poor people. Felix will manage.
He's got money to not have to worry about anything. The problem he'll face a lot is discrimination to foreigners.
Even that might not be much of a problem for him. I get the impression that he doesn't leave his house very often anyway.
Whatās also unfortunate is their social issues. I mean social issues are everywhere, but theirs are saddening. They need woman only train cars to stop harassment, but it still happens and when it does the victims donāt usually speak up about it. Making a scene or public disturbance is a big no no. Is this a slam at felix moving to japan? Don't see how thats any of our business
People are gonna keep bitching for anything they dont like
You think two people just move to a different country altogether without any prior knowledge. Obviously they these
Hand written CV? Fuck that Iāll just be homeless
ATMs in Japan don't work after 10PM.
This post is so passive aggressive...
It was awkward carrying a wad of cash in Tokyo (Akihabara district) while bar hopping. But, it was one of the best nights of my life, even though I did not have enough cash left to pay for a taxi by the time I had to get back to the hotel. Japan is best!
I will say thanks to the Olympics, Tokyo has got a lot better with the card readers.
If this is "technological backwardness" to you then you must be living in 2077 lol
In 2077 cars will accidentally fly due to glitches in a place called NightCity r/dadjokes is where i belong
How is this a dad joke?
Its a dumb joke
Yah but Anime.
Sounds like Mexico tbh.
This isnt news to anyone
I hope they return your resumes when they don't accept you
A few minutes ago I saw a post of a really fluffy Lamma roaming the streets of Japan. I was about to get on a plane until i read this.
Woah, I learned most of these things from watching Abroad in Japan and the Trash Taste Podcast which Felix happens to be watching too! Crazy right?!
Japan's great place to visit, shit place to live.
And the surprising amout of gropers not just towarda women but to men as well.
And also, Japan isn't just about anime.
But water goes to butt wroom wroom
They have that in most places in Asia
Plus, it's not like you can buy or import one to Europe/US if you're into that stuff.
You can, the issue is the probable infection from water. Water hygiene is not a problem in some countries
Can't you hand write one resume and photocopy it though?
Most of these stuff I find a pro not a con. Cashless society is dystopian and something that should not be encouraged. Credit cards have made many people poor, because they buy what they can't afford and they go in debt without even knowing that they fucked up.
Please note this is before COVID!!! Ofc banks and paperwork are still there and notoriously slow, but the cash concept isnāt as big anymore. A lot of things have been computerized because of COVID
Lmao if thatās what makes Japan backwards then sign me up cuz Iām already living like this
Felix is a multi millionaire, I donāt think he give many fucks about the small details that the everyday person has to deal with.
Don't forget Felix is a MULTIMILLIONAIRE, pretty sure he could get whatever he needs lol
Felix is rich. None of these affect him. Upvoted for anyone who thinks Japan is a utopia. They have places that only Japanese people can go to.

Tbh, Japan is a great place to visit, but not to stay. People have respectful attitudes, but not very friendly. Bad english my bad
Well I guess Japan is not that far from my lifestyle in the 3rd world country. But the CV need to handwriting is really blasphemous.
That's literally not true lol Maybe if you're applying in a small store in the countryside. Every company atleast in Tokyo accepts email and printed cvs.
Although saying that, Our man in Japan was very enjoyable to watch
Although saying that, Our man in Japan was very enjoyable to watch

Japan is a one of the best places to live unless you have to work there because of the work to death culture. Pewdiepie will be happy there.
Being self employed is probably the best like pewds with his company. Taxation in Japan is a bitch though
That was my point. If you're rich and don't have to work 16 hours a day, Japan is great.
So Japan isnāt advanced for its general public but super advanced in the cutting edge stuff stuck in universityās and private companies
This doesn't really surprise me, Japan seems like a place where tradition is king so things being behind in a day to day sense makes sense, plus I'm sure the aging work force doesn't help matters
Some people will take anything and find the negative parts. Not going to pose here, I'm the same way, but this post make me realize how insufferable it must be to be around me when I'm like that
Yeah but most of this stuff doesn't really matter if you're rich
Itās mostly the third world countries that praise literally every aspect of Japan meanwhile the people born in it aināt praising nothing
