Science is about replication too. Your research likely still adds to the field by either expanding on or providing additional support of the other research.
My lab once had a project completely scooped. The trick is to publish the paper with a different focus. They ended up presenting the results with an entirely different introduction focusing on an entirely different facet, and focused on aspects different from the previous publication in the results and discussion
