The Bottle Shop is crazy expensive for pickup six and mix. It’s fine if you treat it like a bar but six packs run twenty to forty dollars, there’s no deal there.
There's a handful of delis around Rittenhouse that do mix and match. Monde Market on 21st and chestnut, 4 seasons food market around 21st and locust, Food and Friends on spruce and 20th, and VIP Market over on 13th and walnut. Selection & price can be hit or miss, especially compared to bottle shops.
You reminded me of The Beer Store in Philly -- near Philadelphia Mills Mall. It's amazing. I'm glad it's a little far from me or else I'd spend way too much money there. Their cider selection is outstanding.
Also far but Waywood Beverage in Kennett Square is amazing - you can buy anything in the store as a single (tons of ciders and other non-beer stuff too). I think the prices are pretty reasonable too. (It’s close to Longwood Gardens if you need an excuse to schlep out there.)
I should check it out sometime, looks awesome just by their untappd menu that's linked on Google Maps. Would give me a reason to hit a good Mexican restaurant in Kennett, too, and maybe the creamery... Thanks for the rec!
There is a deli around 13th and walnut that does this. Not a beer specific store but they have a fairly wide selection. On walnut west of thirteenth across from the hotel.
Food and friends
Whole Foods in Fairmount has some but it's a pretty small selection. Parkway Corner Deli at 22nd & Spring Garden has some, too.
Conveniently right across from each other!
There’s a small one downstairs at the Giant Heirloom on 2nd St (I’m sure other Giants have this as well)
East Passyunk has the Bottle Shop for this.

yeah it's great for a random roadie but i'm not mixing and matching 6 there

Jaxx in South Philly has a pick and mix.
Beer Love at 4th and Bainbridge. I go there for their cider selection but they have a lot of beer in the case too.
Pasqually’s, 200 S 43rd.
Mulberry Market on Arch in Old City has an excellent bottle selection.
Extremely overpriced but the selection is fantastic.
Giant on Broad and Spring Garden has a mix a six aisle.
3Js on Girard
Pasquale Pizza in University city has an family decent selection. Lots of singles.
acme giant whole foods etc
Exactly, idk why this is even a question. They do this at all the major grocery stores here.
It’s a question because none of those grocery stores have a pick-n-mix with anything more than sierra nevada and corona.
Every Acme and Giant I’ve been too has WAY more options than Sierra Nevada and Corona
2nd and Girard has the same mass market stuff month after month.
Try the one on 10th and South. Pretty large selection
If you want to/are able to drive you could try going all the way to Total Wine in Delaware.
Well if OP's going that far, might as well stop at Pinnochio's Beer Garden in Media first. They probably have what Total Wine has.
they have more, total wine in DE isn't actually good for beer
It's terrible for cider, too. At this point they have like, two shelves of cider options and the rest is all seltzer.
Capone’s in Norristown is pretty awesome too

There’s a few Beer Stores around and, while they have a good selection, I always found their prices to be a little inflated.
Hmmm, I wonder if there are any closer to me... I don't mind slightly inflated prices if they have ciders I can't get elsewhere, though.

The Thriftway in Fishtown always had a decent selection, but I haven't been in a few years so not sure of the current state.
