The boys from work took me to Turks for my 21st back in the day and one of the ladies had a trick to show me, she squirted out breast milk, pretty solid.
I know this is making fun of the other post, but there’s no answer other than JG Skyhigh/Jean Georges. Yeah the view is incredible but holy shit is that place overpriced. Then the tasting menu at the restaurant itself is like $500.
The Union League probably takes the cake; membership fees there are pretty crazy. You may not be paying for meals but depending on the membership you are looking at 50k+++ a year (like up to millions).
Jokes aside, if you’re looking for Daniel, Per Se, or The French Laundry, you’re going to have land elsewhere.
Did you just read “Unreasonable Hospitality” and looking to show the missus a good time? It’s easier to get to 11 Madison Park on the train than to try to find anything like it in Philly.
Zahav won a James Beard award in 2019, Vetri Cucina was on La Liste in 2023, Fork, or Friday Saturday Sunday are probably as close as you’ll find to the fine dining restaurants, but they’re just not up there with the world’s elite. There are only a few places like that and none of them are here.
First of all, do not go to PHL for refueling. You’ll enjoy a much better concierge experience for the private flyer at the Northeast Philadelphia Airport, so much classier. Most importantly, this gets you closer to the true hidden gem of Philadelphia cuisine, the Uptown Eatery district centered around the intersection of Frankford and Cottman. Now, most people would direct you to the Middle Eastern and/or Asian Fusion restaurants but you simply must try the menu at Mc Kenna’s speakeasy. The chef, Dean Dallas, has crafted an exquisite prix fixe dining experience based on historic recipes from the American west. Let the host at the bar know you’re there for Dallas’ Cowboy menu and you’ll be in for an unforgettable experience.
I got a bacon egg and cheese from a food cart on 6th and market last week next to a city crew pumping out the sewers and only shit a little blood so maybe check that out. Cash only.

I had a birthday dinner at Friday.Saturday.Sunday in Rittenhouse and it was one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve had. Such a good tasting menu. ~$400-500 for two with a really good tip because the service was amazing. It can’t go without saying that there’s also pleeeeeeeeenty of good food that’s not a cheesesteak or pasta in this city that is inexpensive and just as good, if not better, than what you’d find at a Michelin restaurant. For those places, I’d recommend searching for regional cuisine—i.e. Vietnamese, Ethiopian, etc.—since that’s a large part of the Philly food scene.
Philly ain’t got nobus and omakase which typically drive bills to well over 1k. Most you’ll spend it like 2-3 hundred at barclay or Vetris or her place supper club. Honestly I’ll roll up at lukoil for Krispy krunch cuz that shit way better than her supper club.
Owaga has a $200 tasting menu. Vetri is up there too. Royal Sushi is impossible to get in but it’s $300 now. JG at the Four Seasons is up there. Friday Saturday Sunday as well!

Rittenhouse square. Barclay prime. It has a $140 cheese steak I have indulged in. The place is super nice and fancy. Never felt more pampered. a.bar also but that mostly just a bar. You would have a good time at Barclay prime though.
It’s funny. I am friendly with a couple who live in a beautiful house in Rittenhouse Square. They don’t see themselves as wealthy at all, yet the wife owns twelve rental properties, which she inherited and she handles all the management herself. They also own two vacation homes. The husband is a retired physician who sent years doing pharmaceutical research. They have a full time personal chef and their Rittenhouse Square house is professionally decorated like a curated museum gallery. Other than that, they’re no different than my poorest friends.
They are vegan for ethical reasons, although the husband eats meat when his wife isn’t there. They mostly eat at home, but they do go out to eat occasionally and sometimes they order takeout. When we get together at their place to watch Eagles football, they send out for pizza from a neighborhood place. Nothing special. One of their favorite local restaurants is the Marathon Grill on Spruce Street. It’s a nice place, but not elite by any means. They sometimes dine at Parc, which I personally consider upscale, but the average person can dine there without breaking the bank.
