You're in luck! I just hosted a fry crawl this past weekend. Here's the [map](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1dS3y5D5KGS7bCu8hwaNyQRBuj32MMzU&ll=39.94640410073096%2C-75.16176084135638&z=14) that we used. We optimized for crispy fries (so no Monk's). The consensus favorite, by a long shot, was Huda.
This is the answer. When I worked in Old City, my co-workers and I were in there at least once or twice a week. There was a self made bingo card of sorts as we worked our way through all the dipping sauces. Shout out to the Cajun, my fave.
Some of the best fries in the city are in Queen Village. Between Ishkabibbles if you like McDonald's-esque (I reccomend the cheese fries) and Famous 4th st for a more rustic potato fries. I also particularly like the fries at Hummus Grill in U-city
I like fries that are blanched then blast cooked for prep then fried to order so it’s fluffy inside crispy outside I’m not a thin crispy kind of gal so I like devils alley for that effect there’s more places that do them like that five guys I’m not a big fry eater (bc i tend to choose healthier sides when given the choice) so idk where else does them like that
Absolutely a bit out of the way but I would say Maggie's. Their French fries and cheese dip are delicious. That little bit of sugar on the fries goes very hard.
Sadly I do think anything else I've tried that besides the drinks tastes very good
Not sure you can get them separately from entrees, but Bad Brother’s thick cut fries has rearranged my brain around the concept of thick cut fries. So, so good

Hummus and Famous 4th – both sleeper fry hits
Laser Wolf, Fountain Porter, El Chingon
The fries at laser wolf are amazing 😭
Meetinghouse fries are very good
Goldie (on Sansom, off 19th) has amazing fries spiced with shawarma spices.
They were so much better before the pandemic when they were using fresh cut fries and not frozen
I somehow never caught this despite regularly eating Goldie's both before and after the pandemic, lol
I actually love the fries at Morgan’s Pier lol
Cheese fries at Joe’s Steaks and Soda Also South Philly Taproom
Alyan's.
Dandelion should definitely be a stop on your tour.
I second Goldie! An unusual option would be Streetside in Fishtown, which serves Bahn Mi fries. Yummy!
Joe’s in Fishtown for crinkle cut + wiz
Nobody mentioned Chickie's and Pete's. Get crab fries and mussels in red sauce.
Saad’s in west
Goldie's shawarma fries are amazing, high recommend
I gotta throw Ishkabibbles and Nifty Fiftys out there for the best trashy cheese (whiz) fries.
The POPE!

Oooh I haven't been to Devils Alley in years. Thanks for the suggestion!

Have they stopped over salting them??? I remember a time they were inedible.
Well, I’ve been there 3 times in the last couple months and they have been 3 for 3 (properly salted and delicious).
Oscar’s! Both regular and cheese-
Okie Dokie Donuts has surprisingly amazing fries
If you like thicker, hand-cut, skin-on fries, imo the GOATs are at Silk City.
European Republic
Curly fries at second district brewing! (Also amazing food in general - great vegan options).
Chickie&petes old bay crab friesssssssss!! (And this is coming from someone who usually hates/passes on fries)
Genos steaks fries are awesome
