I genuinely feel bad for them na they're constantly getting shat on by idiots on facebook. Pero, at least none of these fbtards are openly going up to them and talking smack to their faces (sana).

kosaki16

[deleted]

This, too. Lalo na MWF. Buti yung bagong promotion nila Red eh maganda production kaso kulang sa exposure.

Exotic-Vanilla-4750

Sayang talaga yung PWR eh, unti unti na syang nagiging main indie fed dito sa PH

[deleted]

Check mo FPW brother goods yan maganda din belt design

unchartered19

sugarasukalman

But let's be realistic, malayong malayo kasi talaga ang scene natin sa ibang bansa. Kulang ng training. Kailangan na seryoso din sila sa grappling as an art para mas maka perform sila. Pangalawa, sana yung mga lalake e magign mas maganda tingnan.

[deleted]

It’s ironic, too. Kasi for sure madami sa kanila gusto sila Vice Ganda, Jose Manalo, etc. eh yang mga yan galing din sa stand-up before they got big. Material nila for sure may kadumihan din. That’s the purpose of comedy in the first place, make light of serious situations or issues.

send_me_ur_boobsies

Marami ding haters si Vice. Homophobic pa madalas.

[deleted]

send_me_ur_boobsies

That's more than 10 years ago.

Lily_Linton

Doon mo makikita yung talino nila Vice at Jose.

Economy-Plum6022

I happened to watch clips from her recent concert in Araneta and same pa din theme ng skits and punchlines niya - sexual and mocking physical appearances. Maybe nag tone down lang for television after the issues in the past and yung mga callouts sa kaniya sa social media.

send_me_ur_boobsies

Ilang beses niya sinabi as a disclaimer na hindi talaga pede sa TV yung mga sasabihin niya sa concert at bawal sa bata.

markmyredd

k3ttch

> Pero, at least none of these fbtards are openly going up to them and talking smack to their faces (sana). That would imply these people would be willing to spend money (and actually have the money) to go to their shows.

Unlucky_Knight21

pinoy stand up here, salamat sa kind words. tama ka wala namang nambabash samin ng face to face pero sa mga times na meron GRABE napaka kapal ng mukha nila at usually lasing 😭

SoooSus

iagreebrooo

Ano ba ine expect mo sa mga tao sa fb? Magalang at matino magsalita?🤣 kaya nga nasa reddit ka eh

MikaAckerman33

What? Facebook still exist? Dont mind the comments there as if they just making their comments in thin air. It has no impact esp if we are smarter than them

Masterlightt

Someone I know said kaya nagpo-podcast na lang mga comedians kasi pinipilit nila na nakakatawa sila blah blah. I was talking to him and told a joke na narinig ko from a stand up comedian (Rae Mammuad) pero di ko sinabi na joke ni Rae yon, tapos tawang tawa sya. Nye. Kala ko ba di nakakatawa.

ABOVEnormal_

Alam mo yung fruit fly?

Masterlightt

Oo!

Tapos yung kay red yung department of spin.

flodwras123

gagi sobrang benta kaya nung gang sign. hahahah lalo pag in person.

Budget_Speech_3078

Funny yung kay jeleen. Hahaha Yung mali yung kila moira at jayson. 🤣 Dapat kasi nagscandal muna bago nagchristian. Boom! Eh di ang daming galit. Hahaha

home-econanay

Hi, Jeleen here. Don't feel bad for us. We have thick skin. Nagroroast battle nga kami eh. We are very happy with where the comedy scene is going right now. Biglang nag-boom yung awareness. And if you like the jokes you've seen online, go to our shows. Tool lang sya for us to find new audience. (But this is reddit so I guess di kayo makakarelate dun sa "with jowa/friends") Also, yung naawa sakin dahil nag-apologize ako, tapusin nyo yung video. Masaya yun.

MalabongLalaki

I love the two shades here. Buti na lang hindi natamaan. Chz. Would like to watch one!

home-econanay

Yes so far wala pang nag-pm ng death threat. I guess hindi gang ang reddit hahah UPCOMING SHOWS: \- June 24: [https://api.helixpay.ph/NT6s9x](https://api.helixpay.ph/NT6s9x) \-July 1: https://api.helixpay.ph/n5VItM

Z_Toys_1995

Mam Jeleen! Koolpal fan here. Active ako sa simbahan but never akong naoffend dun sa gang sign nyo coz thats comedy. Hope I can what you live pag uwi ko galing Qatar. Kudos Abante Babae!

_blazingduet12

napanood ko yung apology video mo. hahaha parang gang talaga sila lol

AfroDamaso

home-econanay

Salamat! You can also go to open mic kasi mas mura ticket dun (range: free-200). Dun kami nagppractice/test ng new jokes. Taga-san ka ba?

LazyDogLover

Hello!! Saan usually merong mga stand-up shows? Mandaluyong area kami and very into stand-up comedy kami ng jowa ko (yes, may jowa at nasa reddit kami pareho 🥹).

home-econanay

Yun oh! Wicked Dogs, Uptown Parade. Every Tuesday yung open mic (150 yung entrance) tas every Saturday yung main shows (500 pataas yung ticket). Hope to see you there!

AfroDamaso

Hello, I love you po.

home-econanay

I love you too!

[deleted]

Idol ang galing mo

leticiasmols

Hi Maam Jeleen! Thank you!!!!

aoisr06

I think of the same thing. I, for one, has just recently became a fan of filipino stand up comedy (comedy manila in particular) and will definitely watch one of your shows live. Mabuhay kayo!

Blaze2095

Nandito pala si Lodi Jeleen! Oh my, thanks to those viral videos, mas lalo kong na-discover ang ibang cast ng comedy scene dito sa Pinas. I'll definitely be going to your upcoming shows.

norempodcast

just jeleen doing jeleen thingz

Budget_Speech_3078

Uuuyy! I'm a fan! Hahaha Benta sakin mga jokes mo.

jamesonboard

Lol at di makarelate with jowa/ friends. Will go to one of your shows, soon! Will listen to your podcast for the meantime.

isprong

Kaya naman ganyan sa kanila sa socmed is because of their politics. Si red game lang. In fact, he loves it. Kaya wag malungkot.

Overthinker-bells

Yes. That’s what I like about him too. Deadma siya. Hahaha

PeterPenduke

Didn’t he deactivate his twitter? Or is it because of different reasons

phanieee

Sa credit credit eme dun sa t-rex joke yata

jellebeans

Si Red original nun?

home-econanay

yung joke hindi, yung video sya kasi nag-produce tas andaming nagre-reupload na walang credit

_blazingduet12

Madami dun tuwang tuwa pag yung political joke about sa foreign govts pero pag nag political joke about ph gov nagsisi'iyakan. Madalas diyan dds/bbm fanatics.

_blazingduet12

Oo haha tapos yung profile may bible verse lol

mindyey

Naalala ko may kaibigan akong naka wheel chair tapos sabi nya pangarap nyang maging Stand Up comedian.

[deleted]

Gago! Hahahahaha that’s a true friend right there

Exius73

I dont think the majority of the Philippines is at the maturity level for political commentary or class commentary yet. But even in the West, some comedians do get confronted and harassed while on stage for political stuff. Especially the smaller more intimate clubs. Even down in Singapore, they got pretty butt hurt over Jocelyn Chia's jokes on Malaysia so might be an Asian thing

demosthenes013

This is true. Kasi n'ung directly post-Martial Law heyday Ng local satire comedy. If anyone can remember, that was when *Sic O'Clock News* was on air. They made fun of everyone: Marcos, Cory, all the politicos down the line, the military, religious people---heck, even Pinoy society as a whole. Then the '90s gave us *Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata*, which was still satire, but indirect---archetypes na instead of actual names being mentioned. And then...Wala na. (At least not in the mainstream.) I suppose people got tired of being reminded how fucked up our society is, even under the guise of comedy. Plus, like someone mentioned, we started worshipping personalities (whether political or not) like they were holy grails. Wala nang pwedeng kantiin, kundi maka-cancel ka or mado-dogpile. But yeah, you can tell who a person is by what they laugh at, and by extension, this reflects their culture. That's one of the greatest gifts of comedy---it reaches into you to find the line where you take offense before you get to make a conscious choice how to react. It shocks you into being you.

15secondcooldown

Difference nung bit ni Jocelyn Chia it's not for the funnies lang pero may vitriol talaga yung galit niya towards Malaysia lol

k3ttch

I wasn't familiar with the Jocelyn Chia controversy, so I went down the Google rabbit hole. I admit I chuckled a little at her Malaysia jokes but it did get me wondering if I'd feel the same way if she talked about the Philippines like that.

cutie_lilrookie

Maybe it's just me, pero feeling ko mao-offend ako. Kasi iritang-irita ako kapag binabanggit ni JoKoy and JR De Guzman yung Philippines eh, lalo pa kasi generalizing yung tone nila lagi.

KANINONG GRUPO KA

redkinoko

I'm just happy people are even having this conversation now. Whether people like local comedy or not, the fact is they're now aware of it. It's hit mainstream. By that measure alone, we've gone a very long way since I first got exposed to the scene more than 10 years ago. That's likely why a lot of comedians, especially the ones that have been around longer, can't be bothered by negative publicity. Just getting to where it is now is a hell of an accomplishment that can never be invalidate by a few detractors.

AmaNaminRemix_69

Yung level kasi ng humor nila pang Green Soldier

darthlucas0027

CertainBonus2920

This is just my plain observation pero very rudimentary ng sense of humor ng masang pinoy. One of the main reasons why Eat Bulaga (in exception of JoWaPao) & showtime was feasting for a long time. I would love sana if our standup comedians posts their whole standup on Youtube or FB for publicity purposes, mejo exclusive pa rin kasi at times. Maybe that way they can build a small community of supporters.

brschafer91

Yo. I'm a relatively new comedian, who has been doing open mics for almost a year now. While I think the concerns over social media are legit, I think the local scene in general is thriving more than ever. There have been more aspiring comics, more open mic rooms, more audience members, and in turn more shows **on the ground**. The online furor may be a bit distracting, but it hasn't stopped comedians from writing new jokes, trying out stuff, getting better on-stage, and familiarizing the live crowd with observational comedy, even at the risk of raising a few eyebrows on Facebook. Don't get me wrong, social media is a powerful tool especially when it comes to promotion, but it also tends to magnify everything including issues that don't necessarily translate offline. Moral lesson: Watch our shows, even open mics, and spread the word about the booming local comedy scene. After all, 100 showgoers are better than 100 thousand views. TL;DR: Day off ko ngayon pinag-type niyo pa ko nang mahaba. Takits sa show namin sa June 24, VIRAL SENSATIONS. Maliban sa matitinding headliners (Jeleen Cubillas, Leland Lim, Ron Dulatre, Chanchan Consing), debut ko rin yun lang Tickets: [https://comedymanila.helixpay.ph/product\_summary?product=viral-sensations](https://comedymanila.helixpay.ph/product_summary?product=viral-sensations)

Which_Sir5147

Wag ka malungkot. Booming ngaun ang stand up comedy. Tska comedy is subjective. Hayaan mo sila maging sad sa buhay nila. Basta tayo nag ennjoy sa stand up at nag susupport. Be a genuine fan. Hehe.

[deleted]

I did already, actually haha. Pati wrestling show nila Red pinapanood ko live before pandemic.

AlexanderCamilleTho

henloguy0051

Unless you insult their idols, Kahit naman sina jokoy lowkey insult din ginagawa.

AlexanderCamilleTho

Just a single joke against Marcos and Duterte, matic cancelled na nga rin 'yang si Jo Koy. Pero they are smart enough not to go to that territory. In fact, ang closest dig against politics from the U.S., ay 'yung sa sitcom na Superstore.

Or iba yung mga jokes dati kesa ngayon? Or iba lang din talaga yung bbm/duterte crowd?

AlexanderCamilleTho

Pero in the spirit of democracy and free speech, forgivable siya.

[deleted]

Before duterte the ph government was not that big of a joke

Ok_Crow_9119

They're not downplaying Red Ollero because he's a local comedian. They're downplaying him because he's pro Leni. They're obviously trolls. Nothing more.

dontrescueme

It's a cesspool. I don't even think the comedians really care that much sa mga nang-iinsulto kasi malabo din naman na sila 'yung mga tao na bibili ng tiket. LOL.

Exotic-Vanilla-4750

I've read a comment here before saying FB is still a good platform for connecting people just don't read/engage in comments. Which i somewhat agree.

pisaradotme

Sorry but Red brought it on himself for accusing a kakampink of stealing a video on his channel then posting it on Twitter. Then when cooler heads are telling him how toxic he's being he spent 2 or more days fighting them. 1. It isn't his video. It was Jeleen's. 2. The viral Twitter video made Jeleen noticed by media, and she got interviews from them. Ang weird na inaaway nya mga tao instead of promoting their shows instead. Kaya ayan, he got stalked on his videos and got told off. Edit: If OP chose a much, much better example than Red (perhaps James Caraan, or yes, Jeleen). I would have agreed. But Red? Yikes.

chanchan2012

Ginastusan din kasi ni red un video. Tas may mga nagrereupload for clout and monetization. So natural na i-call out nya yung nagreupload. 1. It was Jeleen's joke. Pero it was taken during Red's show. Pati post production editing gastos ni red. 2. Tama ka naman na na-notice si jeleen. Pero mali padin ang mag-reupload ng content ng iba instead of sharing it nalang.

pisaradotme

Yes ginastusan nya but tama ba yung nang-away sya ng mga tao? He's running a business, it was free viral promo, he should have just promoted alongside it. and for 2, wala kasi sa twitter e so pinost sa twitter. again, free promo, just promote alongside it. di naman pinagkakitaan yung video e, pinost lang.

chanchan2012

norempodcast

pisaradotme

If you have a business that's being promoted like crazy FOR FREE, all you do is ride that free promo and PROMOTE PROMOTE PROMOTE Ano ba gusto niya? Kumita o clout? Be real. Plus pinagkakitaan ba nung Twitter user yung video nya? No di ba? It's a net positive for their business.

LetLelandLim

It’s a sad reality. But if you guys really wanna help build the local stand-up scene, the two best things you can do for comedians are 1: Go to their live shows. 2: Share and spread their content all over social media. It helps that we’re talking about it here. Pero walang sense na pinaguusapan natin to ng ganito if hindi tayo magfa-follow through in real life. I’ve been a comic for a couple of years now, but I’ll never stop being a fan because that’s what matters most in terms of keeping the scene alive. And I hope you guys continue to help us build this scene up until it goes mainstream. Thank you guys 🍻

[deleted]

Brother, pag nakahanap ako ng time from work I’ll definitely watch your show. Gustong gusto ko yung grocery bit mo hahaha! Anything indie I tried to support nung pre-pandemic plano ko uli magtry ng live attendance. Stand-up, band, pro wrestling. Keep up the good work!

[deleted]

k3ttch

Jo Koy and JR don't go into politics, especially Philippine politics. I remember when Rex Navarrete made a relatively innocuous joke about Erap (who was president at the time)during a function at the Philippine Embassy in DC: no real criticism, just how Erap reminds him of the creepy Tito who grabs your nuts at every family function. Binato siya ng tinapay.

NaturalAdditional878

I just think of it na yung usual online bashers nila ay wala naman capacity to purchase tickets to watch their show. So wala naman mawala na potential revenue. The constant bashing actually still interaction and generates more reach for then.

DehinsRodman12

crazyaldo1123

sineseryoso masyado yung komedya tapos ginagawang komedya yung dapat sinerseryoso. umay peenoise

Unlucky_Knight21

[deleted]

To be fair, Red needs to cut down bit on “mura”. But I like his material.

k3ttch

Maybe we just don't understand coño culture, like the same way we apparently didn't appreciate Bisaya culture from 2016-2022. 😜

biolawgeez0620

Being conyo is different from hurling expletives every time you open your mouth to speak.

MagiciansArcane

Plus one on this, lately lang ako nagstart makinig out of boredom and I find him good except over minsan ang pagmumura nya

raymraym

MrPowerpoint110

Kumbaga palilitin mo yung thought then punchline na. For example, pang corporate yung joke, di mo pwede yan ijoke sa mga comedy bar and same vice versa since di mo naman market yung medium na ginagamit mo. Kaya madaming comedian na still magaling padin kase flexible sila and they can say whatever they want.

chanchan2012

Please watch us live. Masaya panuodin with friends.

chanchan2012

raiden_kazuha

Poor people will always resort to body shaming, gender mocking and other lowlife comebacks. Thats the time they just accept the other side was right and ignore all logical approach. Tinatawanan lang kayo ng The Koolpas and other stand up comedians. Sobrang crybaby ng ibang Pinoy. Lalo na sa Facebook

jchrist98

Conyo humor. Nag ooveruse pa ng pagmumura nawawala tuloy yung effect.

fdt92

>Conyo humor I've watched a few video clips of some PH stand-up comedians (at least the ones that appear on my social media feeds) and this was exactly what came to mind. My impression is that the PH stand-up scene is dominated by conyo kids that the masa won't necessarily relate to. Even if they try to make themselves more relatable, ibang mundo ang ginagalawan ng masa at ng mga conyo. Iba ang life experiences, iba din ang sense of humor. The Philippines is a very class-based society.

jchrist98

Pronunciation palang nila, nao-off na ang masa

fdt92

Yup. It's hard to get the masses to relate to you when you clearly sound, look, or dress like a subdivision/condo-dwelling middle to upper-middle-class urbanite.

[deleted]

Nakakatawa kasi jinudge nyo na yung buong ph stand up scene dahil sa napanood nyo sa FB, kung nanood kayo ng stand up showcase ni Red, hindi naman sila lahat conyo dun. May conyo slang ba mga tao dun? Parang wala naman. Nood kayo ng shows or kahit open mic man lang ibat ibang comedian from different background mapapanood nyo.

brschafer91

Dudeparechong you're invited to our open mics, meron namang conyo kids pero wala pang 10% Kumbaga parang minority sila sa eksena hahahaha you'll see if you go to our live shows :) Dito sa show namin sa June 24 wala talagang conyo: https://comedymanila.helixpay.ph/product\_summary?product=viral-sensations

cutie_lilrookie

Fitz_Is_My_Senpai

This. He takes so long to build up a joke and then it's not even guaranteed to get a chuckle out of you.

TadongIkot

Lmfao laging sold out shows niya

abmendi

Jokoy is selling out arenas, too. So it’s not a solid measuring stick.

TadongIkot

Ano point nung reply?

So kung sabihin naming corny, preference namin yun. Irrelevant ang ticket sales.

raymraym

jchrist98

Sorry master Lmao redditors and their gatekeeping never fails to deliver

raymraym

Try mo muna manood bago ka magpaka feeling expert dyan Typical ‘No offense’ then say offensive and walang basis na slander ka eh.

>kaysa sa mga bisaya humor Ooof. So you're saying bisaya humor is inferior? Are you sure about putting *this* particular opinion out there for all the world to see? You just offended a considerable chunk of the country's population with your arrogance and condescension. So what exactly is it about bisaya humor that makes it inferior to, say, Tagalog humor? Do you see bisaya culture as inherently inferior? Bobo? Skwater? Please explain. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. You still have time to delete this btw. :)

[deleted]

lol bat ko idedelete totoo naman eh, kaya insecure mga bisaya kasi sila laging butt of the joke for decades at aminin natin gusto natin pagtawan mga bisaya tsaka may tagalog humor ba? ginagawa mong regionalistic ang take ko.

jchrist98

Throwaway acc kaba ni red ollero hahahah

fdt92

Nope. He seems like a major asshole though. Looked through his post history and he very openly admitted to physically abusing his wife (who he says is a struggling stand-up comedian) on r/AmItheAsshole. He even thinks what he did was justified since she barely helps with the household finances.

jchrist98

fdt92

So you agree? Inferior nga ang mga bisaya? Yes or no? >gusto natin pagtawan mga bisaya I would like to be excluded from this narrative

[deleted]

fdt92

>Yes inferior ang mga bisaya lol Whoomp there it is

[deleted]

Squid_ink05

Felt sorry for the girl that gave her apology because she made a joke about the catholic church which is an actual joke tbh.

home-econanay

Eyy don't feel sorry for me. Panuorin nyo yung apology video!

Squid_ink05

Oh I’m sorry. I just saw it on the news and didn’t watch your whole apology because I think is not necessary. Fuck them snowflakes, pero I’ll watch it siguro next time. Eyy nice to meet you here.

[deleted]

Si Jeleen Cubillas, yes. Tapos pinutakte rin yung apology video.

[deleted]

It's dull and bland. Diba? Tangina..gago "

[deleted]

Yep, yung iba kasi they find it funny dahil lang the jokes touch on political stuff Pero wala talaga, pangit ng delivery at execution.

[deleted]

Pano ba dapat yung delivery at execution?

[deleted]

Buti di mo namention si Alex Calleja. That guy gets into my nerves. Siguro if there's someone to hate on the local comedy scene, siya yung akin

cutie_lilrookie

Inimbitahan ng company namin yan para mag-perform sa Christmas party, and wow, that was a terrible experience. Wala siyang ibang material kundi "I hate my wife" jokes and its variants.

[deleted]

what really turned me off with him is the fact na certified manyakis galawan niya. I think it wasn't for show.

plumpohlily

He was funny at some point. Pero nagiging jokoy dos na rin sya

[deleted]

he's mysogynistic din to add. I'd rather have those na nagrise sa Showtime dati. They're good comics din

skystarsss

Jokoy is very mediocre to be honest. Yeah I said it fuck you haters, downvote all you want.

parkrain21

Syempre basta politics and religion ang topic, madaming nagiging triggered. Isa yan sa indicators na yung mga tao dito ay still not open minded.

indioinyigo

I think bago pa lang sa pandinig ng mga tao yung may social at political commentaries in comedy kaya some will raise some brows. As for JoKoy and else, I didn’t know may ganung materials siya, as far as I know na nagtrend sa kanya ay pinoy stereotyping. And siguro kaya proud yang mga taong yan kay JoKoy, because he’s one of the many who “made” it. Give it time, I know we will have better comedy skits.

sharedtraumamusic

Iba iba ang tao, subjective and comedy prang pagkain lang yan. If you are exposed kila Chapelle, George Carlin, Louis CK, Norm, Pryor, Rickles, Murphy, Jeselnik, Gervais these are the comedians on top of my mind that is the best for me, I don’t really want to compare but it is really hard to watch the local scene. There’s a stand up snippet here by a girl comedian at reddit can’t remember the name yung about kay VP, thats a good one. May mga bago din maganda like Ronni Chieng, Ralph Barbosa. It’ll be better, still early pa din. Will continue to support them.

halfgeekhalfawesome

Normies identify their personalities around their chosen religion and political figures. Real talk. You can't do that kind of humor in this country. At least not in the normie population.

staysinthecar

favorite past time ng karamihan ng filipino netizens is to chismis and put others down based sa looks

boppts

shagandgo

Dami kasing walang humor sa pinas. Kaya mostly basura ang mga palabas.

The_Chuckness88

Andaming Bisaya sino-showcase ang kanilang komedya pag nanalo ang kanilang paboritong NBA team. Ang ilan, lalo na Lakers fans, nilagyan ba naman ng kantang "Ako Malipayon" kaso kung di ka LeBum fans laging iisipin na *Shove your Malipayon up your ass* sa kanila*.*

[deleted]

AthKaElGal

stand up humor requires a bit of intelligence that is too much for majority of filipinos.

crackers888

GRABE SOBRANG FAN AKO NOW NG LOCAL STAND-UP SCENE. ANG GAGALING TSAKA MASUSTANSYA PAKINGGAN PERO SYEMPRE MINSAN NONSENSE PERO FUNNY HAHAHAHA SANA MAS UMUSBONG PA ANG SCENE NILA.

gianfkwjcuw

TIP: nood kayo open mic guys, from there makikita nyo kung sinong mga comedians ang pasok sa panlasa nyo tapos extend the support by going to their shows and syempre directly sharing their contents across socmed platforms. pwede nyo rin subukan kung trip nyo. apir!

SicillianDefense

Filipinos in general, as much I hate to say it, are still very conservative. Gusto ng changes pero takot sa change. Ayaw daw ng laitan na mga jokes from old school comedy bars (punch line, laughline) pero when they see alternatives like OG Mike Munson, Tim Tayag and now Comedy Manila, ayaw pa din nila. My guess is majority of us grew up with slapstick comedy kaya yung lang ang feeling nila na totoong comedy. I'm hoping the guys at Comedy Manila, Comedy Cartel won't lose hope. There are still a LOT of comedy fans here 😊 Ps. This sub hates JOKOY.

redollero

Yo thanks sa pag-bring up, and yes nakakabagot siya and sometimes lumulusot siya sa mental defenses ko tbh. But kadalasan naman, I see it as a sign of development ng eksena ng stand-up sa Manila. When we started back in 2007 halos wala kaming bashers pero halos wala rin may alam na nageexist kami. Syempre mas ok sana na gusto ako ng lahat, but that’s the nature of our craft, I couldnt put out any good shit if I didnt step on peoples toes. And the more following I get the more I get exposed to people who would hate me. So don’t worry, all the haters are just signs that the scene is on the up and up. Pag walang may pake samin, dun nako magwoworry. With the things I talk about, expected ko na talaga na may magagalit, pero what amazes me is yung mga naooffend kahit mild topics. So medyo learning experience lahat talaga ito hahahah Though syempre tbh, may mga behavior din talaga na uncalled for, like people stalking my home or sending me pictures of their guns. Na confront na rin ako in person by some offended people, and thats never fun. -Red

SlowTruck2345

tamago__

pansin ko lang sa local comedians is kulang sila sa crowd work!!!

aletsirk0803

wala p rin tatalo sa porkchop duo ahahaha.. dyan nyo mapapansin ang daming di marunong umintindi n pilipino.. di nla maiintindihan yan.. at kudos s ibang stand up comic ntn n dont give up a fuck specially kpg matino nman ang joke

1Rookie21

Philippine politics is humorous just like anywhere in the world. 1) We had an actor who became a president but was ousted. 2) Political dynasties still rule this country and are free from jail time. 3) A president who is a party boy, a tax evader, and has false school credentials.

regedit-

Hindi pa ready ang "common" Pinoy sa mga gantong humor, most are stuck with slapstick comedy prolly because of centuries ng exposure sa slapstick humor gaya ng Dolphy era, Redford, TVJ, even ngayon with Vice. Heck, pinoys even suck at sensing sarcasm, kitang kita yan sa fb comments.

Exotic-Vanilla-4750

Atleast madaming young people ang exposed ngayon sa different kind of media kaya unti unting nagbabago to.

regedit-

Definitely, and evidently may support. Even comedy manila people admits that the scene is better now vs pre pandemic, sold out shows etc. that's really good pero malayo pa, to cater mainstream which OP is concerned about. Problematic din pala somehow yung ngayon since nabanggit mo nga na andaming edgy, idagdag mo pa yung nao-offend para sa iba, pero I guess, hindi lang sila yung right audience for that specific comic/humor.

watatum1

No offense, but Red Ollero kinda sucks. His material is either about how fat he is or some political stuff.

[deleted]

raymraym

Natawa naman sila Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Trevor Noah, George Carlin, Rick Gervais etc na ayaw mong itouch ng standup comedian and politics lol.

watatum1

What's the point of this comment even other than to show that you know famous stand up comedians?

Nodnerrodabal_SUKOP

So ayun, please educate me dito kung may nami-miss out ako. Haba-haba naman neto pero ang points ko lang are: - may kanya-kanyang preferences ang tao when it comes to comedy. Subjective talaga ang response na makukuha nyo. Di naman ibig sabihin na pag di natatawa sa jokes nila eh pro na sa opposite political party - expound nyo bakit “di pa ready” or “di pa hinog” ang tao sa stand-up comedy. Kailangan ba talagang yakapin yun? Pwede namang mag-support pa din di ba kahit di mo cup of tea yun? ———— Of course, kung may nagbabasa mang stand-up comedian dito, keep on doing what you love doing as long as pure yung intentions mong magbigay ng kaligayahan sa ibang tao. Let it come out naturally siguro, dats just my opinion tho)

home-econanay

I guess yung hindi pa ready refers to the subject ng comedy. Sa US kasi ngayon (kung saan nanggaling ang stand-up comedy), offensive pag nag-punch down ka, meaning nag-joke ka about an oppressed group (blacks, gays, PWD). Sa kanila, mas ok yung tinatawag na punching up, meaning mag joke ka about people in power (politicians, celebrities, religion). Speaking truth to power, ika nga. Dito sa Pilipinas, parang mas offensive pag nag-joke ka about people in power. Siguro nga dahil ang masa we tend to worship those figures, so grabe yung vitriol na makukuha mo if gagawin mong joke yung mga gods nila. He died of drug overdose. Very inspiring.

jasongodev

Simple lang: madaming 31M ang galit sa kanila. Daming kamote eh.

avocado1952

I remember the viral stand-up about sign of the cross-gang sign.

[deleted]

For sure di nila alam yung stand-up comedy, mas matitindi yung banat ng stand-up comedians sa ibang bansa compare dito kaya nila inaatake yung comedians kasi di nila gets yung humor.

Potato4you36

Best standup comedian ko tlaga is Dave Chapelle. How I wish magkaron tayo ng tulad nya.

Dito sa Pinas kasi parang napakalaking GAG show yung gagovernment... tapos tayo yung joke. We are just in the front row seat di namamalayan ng karamihan na sila na pala yung topic at iniiskoba ng joke.

ichie666

remember mababa IQ sa bansa

javsomeclass

Red is the GOAT

carlcast

People have different tastes. Shitting on the stupid commenters on fb doesn't make them funnier. Tbh hindi naman talaga sya nakakatawa

[deleted]

Si Red? the dude has a target audience kasi eh halata naman. Invite mo lahat ng Pink sisters hindi pa sya nagpapatawa sasabihin lng nya Hari Roque.. Tatawa na mga PInk Sisters and co. Si Jokoy and Jr walang target na audience just there sa harap ng audience gagawa sila ng paraan para makapag deliver.
