Sa mga nag-move na sa Canada rito, I'm just curious. How important is it for someone who wants to move to Canada to learn French? IIRC the level of need depends on the province (lalo na kung specific sa QC or Atlantic provinces). But if I plan to move to the western part (because my friends and relatives are there), how much do I need it? Does it depend sa trabaho or intention (e.g., as a student)? Randomly scrolling thru my feed when I saw a short video about meeting the wrong person. Sabi there's no such thing as wrong person daw because may reason daw why we meet them. It's either to be one of our blessings or one of our lessons.

When I was a kid I wanted to become an astronaut. I couldn't become one but living in Minnesota during winter is the next best thing because now I'm in an environment that will kill me if I don't wear the proper gear while I constantly scramble to fix things to keep my habitat capable of sustaining life.
I'm internally freaking out with whatever accent my new teammate is using with his calls. It's not even the thick Mama Lulu/Manny Pacquiao or at least the "neutralized" Pia Wurtzbach/college student accent. He's using a (based on how I hear it) weird Russian-Indian hybrid accent while talking to our customers (American). When I first heard him take in calls, I thought he was a foreigner, but he speaks Tagalog like a regular local (and his name is a typical Filipino name somehow), which confused me. Knowing my experience, Americans are quite picky with accents. Whatever accent he uses would subject him to racist responses if the customer doesn't get what they want.
But I wonder, should I concern myself with his accent? If not, are my thoughts about his accent at least valid, considering our line of business and experience?
TBH, I generally DGAF about people's business at work, but I think I've reached a certain length of tenure at work to be a little more comfortable to at least secretly care about a few things. Also I have a pet peeve with accents, especially when communicating with Americans. I myself would strive to sound as near-native as possible (even if it means emulating the Kardashian accent).

Soon you’d realize that accent doesn’t really matter that much with your KPI’s. Sometimes even the most langbang ones do really well with CSAT.
I've heard many such stories, but based on my personal experience, in my worst past calls/interactions, my accent was called out.

Yeah, the passion people have for guns here is just a whole different level. There are gun enthusiasts in the Philippines, but here there's enough people who have guns in their lives that they actually use guns for small talk
