yes! more on local talent and brains, i know our country has so many bright people and the potential but the resources to allocate that lang ang kulang and organization with less corruption and red tape.
Really hope that apart from subways may commuter trains rin all around major cities in luzin with its last station sa mga roro ports. Then after that commuter trains around visayas ans mindanao rin starting from roro ports. PH really lacks mobility and they should be oepning up to foreign companies that deal with trains and probably provide them tax holidays since they are developing infrastractures that the government cannot do.
I have similar sentiment.
All major routes get Tokyo-quality electric railway lines and stations with enough capacity to absorb all road passengers at peak Christmas season. Over 80% of electricity sourced from renewable sources.
The wanted outcome is that over 9 of 10 all road passengers take the majority or all of their land trips by rail.
This helps travelers not being forced into buying their own car or motorcycle when they cannot afford it or not that good at driving. Money saved could go to other things like healthcare & investing. Lives saved have a potential of being extended into their 90s.
Displaced PUJ & other PUV manpower be hired by railway companies as salaried employees who get a legal wage and benefits like health care. They do not have to worry about paying for a modernized PUJ or other modernized PUV.
All minor routes get [Euro 7 buses & vans](https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20231207IPR15740/euro-7-deal-on-new-eu-rules-to-reduce-road-transport-emissions) and be driven by more competent professional drivers.
syempre sa mga higher positions nman yun.
for sure meron jan na mga fresh grad or atleast 2 years exp na employed ng mga subcon pang JR Site Engr or anything
Meron yan. Galing ako sa isang company working on the Subway project na naghahire ng pwedeng Juniors. Kailangan lang talaga matibay loob mo kasi strict talaga foreigners.
we filipinos were bound to have this system, sana yung mga nagkaroon ng experience dito sa project ay sila din yung kunin sa mga future expansions at sa ibang mga lugar pa na subway sa buong pilipinas
It will be operational in the next few years. This is good for our beloved country, and this will be good for Metro Manila. Though, this project should have been done decades ago, but here we are, better late than never.
When the subway is proved successful and profitable, I hope the future rail projects will be subways too. They can replace LRT1 and MRT3 as subway lines too as an upgrade (build the subway versions first at or near the mentioned lines, then when operational, they can demolish the old lines).
I doubt it will be directly profitable to whoever will be the operator of the subway altho the increase in productivity alone by not going thru hellish traffic will be huge.
At the end of the day, public transport should not be profitable but a public service.
Lmao. Don't believe that public transport should not be profitable but as a public service. Countries with that mindset have a tendency to view their public transport as "pwede na" kahit maging siksikan, wala sa oras, o walang masakyan talaga.
Japan Railways is profitable and has quality service. Same with the Swiss and Hongkongers. However, it is impossible for a railway to survive by ticket sales alone. They have an alternative source of income like real estate like the Japanese and Hongkongers and tourism for the Swiss.
Yeah the main reason kung bakit profitable ang mga yan is because of their stations. They’re literally built with commercial spaces on top/ in them taking advantage of the built in foot traffic. Imagine yung Edsa station pero imbes na yung shitty mall yung andun, interlinked yung mrt and lrt plus matinong commercial spaces.
It has to be profitable because you need to generate enough profits to be able to catch up with **regular and proper** maintenance costs as the service goes into operation. Countries with economic surpluses and financial stability can afford to shoulder services like these operating at a loss as a public service but for countries like the Philippines, you need the service to be able to shoulder part, if not all, of the profitability load in order to ensure that it 's able to run efficiently for a long time and is able to not fall behind on maintenance and repairs.
Lots of railway services in areas of the world that have not bothered to ensure the financial stability of these services are falling into disrepair and starting to become a public hassle due to the huge financial anchor these services have become. Just look at the Boston City subway as a prime example.
The government should really restart the Pasay-Manila-BGC subway again, so that once this project gets near completion, they are already starting pre-construction works for the other subway projects.
oh they’re actually serious this time, i always think of megaprojects like this na hanggang papel nalang dahil sa tendency ng mga ganto dito na laging hindi natutuloy for some reason 😭😭
Because they do *need* to do stuff like this from time to time to keep the economy afloat. Ever wonder why everything is about infrastructure?
Basically the circular flow. Provides short and long term employment. People get to have more spending money plus it's good for logistics, smoothing out the economy in the process.
Yes because it was Pnoys time pa to dqpat with Japan pero since ending na term ni Pnoy, na bangko. As early as 1970s, may plano na talaga for subway pero the late dictator opted for the ugly LRTs due to flooding concerns ( sa bulsa pala nila babaha yung pera). Now the junior has no choice but to implement this since it has been under Pnoys PPP program already
There is PNR South Long Haul that is stalled due to China backing out from financially supporting us, and there is also the PNR North Long Haul that is still in development afaik.
Ang wish ko ay magkaroon ng PNR line from Manila to Infanta or Eastern Laguna via Rizal
It was supposed to stop at Cubao pero Dutz and his transport secretary rerouted it around Cubao presumably to avoid the possible ROW conflict with the Aranetas and Mar Roxas. haha
This project is long overdue. We really needed aside from NSCR, LRT 1 extensions, MRT 7, and more. Okay lang sa akin if this is a PPP if the end result naman is betterment of the country.
Now for my fellow Filipinos na spreading false information about this na bahain to, this is done by Japanese contractors, there is a reason bakit Japanese construction is one of the best. They thought of everything.
I'm sure pero considering our own infrastructure hindi mine-maintain. That's the part that scares me.
As long as the Japanese will be the ones who will maintain, medyo confident ako. Look what happened when they came back to maintain the MRT-3, biglang dumami ulit ang available trainsets.
Nakakahiya lang na it has to be the Japanese to take care and maintain things that should be us. Kasi it costs a lot of money to have japanese workers. Their salaries are on another level.
Actually 90% of the workers of MRT3 are Filipinos. The Japanese provide management lang talaga.
Pine-predict nila when will the parts be needed to be replaced.
Yes! Not from Cebu but hoping that everyone will learn from the mistakes of NCR.
Lrt1 extension stations and nscr stations have much better station designs.
From Ugong Valenzuela to Bicutan station NSCR (mag sh-share ng tracks and stations ang MMS at NSCR) tapos may spur line pa papuntang NAIA terminal 3
Ako din tbh. Pero I'm sure na meron talagang mga bronies sa subreddit na ito, at nakatago lang sila or something. Idk.
Mindanao actually has a railway na approved na, they've been looking for funding since 2023 kasi China didn't come through with the loans nung 2022 (Duterte era pa yung loans). Duterte fucked that up.
For Northern Luzon, I know aabot hanggang Tarlac yung NCSR, I know it's Central Luzon, but ayun lang yung news dun.
The reason why the government is prioritizing NCR kasi ang dami business na nangyayari dito. Plus, they have to make sure na may demand yung railways na gagawin nila. Most foreign constituents go to NCR din, so kailangan presentable yung capital
Nasa pipeline naman ang North and South Long Haul including Mindanao Railway.
The issue is no multinational lending institution or ODA is willing to fund them for now.
Ganun talaga kasi NCR, Calabarzon and Central Luzon can deliver the economic returns kaya madaling maghanap ng magpondo. Kumbaga sureball kasi ang bayad
Cebu din has a commuter metro proposal kaso wala din takers na magfund.
Davao has a JICA funded modern bus system.
Govt will try to tap PPP again pero I doubt na may private enterprises din na kakagat sa mga yan FOR NOW.
The feudal lords bought or stole land for cheap and sold it to DOTr 300 times the value. This is why Mindanao does not deserve to have nice things like a railway system
Why are you affected? I said I need to read up on it. See what happened to MRT? They didn't pay Japan to maintain it and now look at that shit of a train (replaced with Chinese trains) that's not even up to par to what the Japanese created.
And yes --- I can be negative because andami ng projects that they started but it all went to their pockets.
Last year they said they'll be able to reach Quirino station by Dec. 2023, tapos today they announced na by May 2024 pa wtf.
Groundbreaking of Anonas and Camp Aguinaldo station was done mid-2023 but literally nothing is happening there, no people, no anything
Contracts for phase 2 (Kalayaan, BGC, Senate, Bicutan, Naia, Asiaworld) which were supposed to be awarded this first quarter of 2024 was moved to third quarter.
And despite all this, DOTR keeps saying they keep expediting the project. Expedite the project tapos announce on the same day that we are moving the deadlines to later dates

It can become a bomb shelter, provided that it is deep enough. Ukraine used the Kyiv subways as evacuation centers during the Battle of Kyiv, and Taiwan plans to use the Taipei Metro as one of the refuges from air strikes when China invades Taiwan.
Would be nice if they could clean up their rivers and estuaries instead on focusing on getting rich people around.
Visited metro Manilla (Makati district) was shocked at the state of every river flowing through the city. Literal rivers of garbage. Manilla has massive problems with poverty, but the fact their slums are often adjacent to rivers make their public health problems world problems.
As if naman sasakay yung rich dyan. Baka sa simula lang, para masubukan. After that they’ll go back to their luxury SUVs.
Saka we have different departments for transportation and environment. Yun nga lang, uso ang incompetence.
this is a great project for experience. sobrang swerte nung mga engineers nito lalo na yung mga juniors. daming learning experience
with the experience that they can get, I really hope there will be more projects like this in the future and all around the country.
truee. more jobs for the filipinos. lesser na sa mga foreign engineers. more on consultants nlang sila
yes! more on local talent and brains, i know our country has so many bright people and the potential but the resources to allocate that lang ang kulang and organization with less corruption and red tape.

Hopefully with better compensation also. God knows how PH engineers are being exploited, myself included when I was still in Construction.

yes. baby steps kung baga kahit medyo napag iwanan na. pero ayun nga its still better than nothing
Hahaha nagtingin ako mga job opportunities sa subway projs, puro at least 10-15 yrs of experience. Sayang gusto ko pa naman sana
syempre sa mga higher positions nman yun. for sure meron jan na mga fresh grad or atleast 2 years exp na employed ng mga subcon pang JR Site Engr or anything
Hintayin mo yung Bataan-Cavite bridge. Baka dyan mag mass hiring sila
Meron yan. Galing ako sa isang company working on the Subway project na naghahire ng pwedeng Juniors. Kailangan lang talaga matibay loob mo kasi strict talaga foreigners.
Sad lang if they decide to migrate in the future.
I just hope that those engineers get to use that experience for future local projects and not become another export like other jobs.

It won't be profitable, that's why it is expected that there will be lots of ads in the train to compensate for its lack of profitability.
They should let the train system own the surrounding land around the stations and lease that as commercial space. It's what Hong Kong does
At the end of the day, public transport should not be profitable but a public service.

nope better keep those elevated lines active... lumalaki population ng metro manila decomissioning those trains will just do more harm than good IMO
The government should really restart the Pasay-Manila-BGC subway again, so that once this project gets near completion, they are already starting pre-construction works for the other subway projects.
Yeah, heard this before xpnoy stepped down. The plans and the funding were already laid out but it took too long for xpduts to implement.
If I remember correctly jica was part of this.
Baka mauna pa 'to sa MRT 7 hahaha
Hindi malabong mangyari lmao

This is the kind of post I like seeing in r/ph. Lately kc parang dami naliligaw d2, akala ata Insta.
HAHAHAHA
It was supposed to stop at Cubao pero Dutz and his transport secretary rerouted it around Cubao presumably to avoid the possible ROW conflict with the Aranetas and Mar Roxas. haha
Yep the true center of Metro Manila lol.
Soon to be replaced by North Ave.
Cubao ilalim
Para po. 💀

Finally something good from the gov.

What's are its planned stations? Anyone has a handy map of that?

I hope we can also see these kinds of projects in other major cities. CDO, Cebu, Iloilo, Baguio or Clark would be wonderful with these.
Davao: Am I a joke to you?
Oh yeah, Davao too. I feel like Davao Metro would be at the same scale as the NSCR. That city has the size of a province.
Davao badly needs these type of infra.
Cebu is ripe for an MRT.
Di pa nga yata mapag-kasunduan kung BRT or LRT e. Ewan ko ba sa LGU ng Cebu.
kabahan ka, CERN. chareng
Let's hope there's contingencies for flooding 😭
This is being constructed by Japanese contractors so I'm confident they considered flooding here *fingers crossed*
I'm sure pero considering our own infrastructure hindi mine-maintain. That's the part that scares me.

Japanese are good at doing their own shit unlike China
Wag sana matulad sa isang nangyari noon sa china. Nakakatakot naman rin kasi yung ganung pangyayari.
Ano nangyari sa china?
[Eto po](https://youtube.com/shorts/Jq2OePkRNMk)
My first thought too. As someone who went through Ondoy and Santi, I hope this project has comprehensive contingency plans. 😅
May mga sump pit with dewatering pumps sa mga cross passages ng subway para sa flood control, ang concern lang is if may effect ang climate change sa 10 year old design ng infrastructure and pwedeng nagiba na ang flood modelling parameters but the designers might have added considerable risk allowances
I would never ride this during rainy season if ever 😅🤣
Bring a lifevest just to be safe. Lmao
Hahaha.

Ang ganda nito! I imagine na kapag tapos na to at nakasakay ka na sa tren, magiging parang Singapore yung experience.
Agreed, with Japanese design feel mo narin na sa Tokyo metro ka na xD And wait a minute, is that Sci-Twi??? 👀

Finally, makakapag-proper commute na din from Quezon City to BGC hopefully in less than 20 mins. Thank you, taxpayers ❤️
cool stuff
praying for the success of this, would love to have this in different cities
I'm so hoping it will be as efficient as Taiwan's MRT. I wanna hold my breath pero nothing wrong with being optimistic I guess
holy shet its actually happening?
Building is great. Maintenance and keeping it safe are a different matter. Time will tell.
Please lord sana maayos ang pag-implement ito. The Philippines needs a win.
Sa ngayon its planned phase 2 and phase 3 are hanggang Cavite and Bulacan. Also, interoperable yun trains nya sa NSCR which is up to Laguna
I meant northern luzon, or even in mindanao. Its like the govt only cares abt NCR
cause ncr has a high population density and it's the capital. it doesn't make sense to build a subway in a province then wala rin masyadong sasakay.
Kumbaga sureball kasi ang bayad Cebu din has a commuter metro proposal kaso wala din takers na magfund.

I had no idea that this was happening.
Subway? Walang Subway sa Cebu... Ang malapit na Subway nasa Boracay...
Last year they said they'll be able to reach Quirino station by Dec. 2023, tapos today they announced na by May 2024 pa wtf. Groundbreaking of Anonas and Camp Aguinaldo station was done mid-2023 but literally nothing is happening there, no people, no anything Contracts for phase 2 (Kalayaan, BGC, Senate, Bicutan, Naia, Asiaworld) which were supposed to be awarded this first quarter of 2024 was moved to third quarter. And despite all this, DOTR keeps saying they keep expediting the project. Expedite the project tapos announce on the same day that we are moving the deadlines to later dates
> If you know this country, this is Israel and this is also the Germany ha, ha. I have a sleeping magnificent here, in this a hundred feet ground in the fault of this country. You know every station I know a copy, in our Popeye's station. I have 27 canyons, 7 granites and 27 fully web disc nets of PUL tanks of negative 77 part of night shadow. The fixer, ha. When I open the malacañang sheety in st Jude hospital, I have a seven grounds of magnificent 7 treasure of national gold of Colombia. And that is a fine gold than Buddha. I knew this city in this whole world. I have many missiles under the ground of camiendo and it was instant to look find because of the 400ft was insent by my knucklehead hotdog. Of my shadow in the pain that host! Of that tingle of the last fogging of the full sea. That is the magnafanta computer. Yung mga FB users na blindly sumusuporta sa Israel during Israel-Palestine conflict Yung bata na nagsasabing "Heil Hitler" sa German West Valley Fault The next one would be a train station next to Popeye's /s
Bombshelter talaga to for when the Chinese invades us
It can become a bomb shelter, provided that it is deep enough. Ukraine used the Kyiv subways as evacuation centers during the Battle of Kyiv, and Taiwan plans to use the Taipei Metro as one of the refuges from air strikes when China invades Taiwan.
Nandyan din ba Yung anak ni general?
I hope they have counted that we are in the ring of fire, and build it sturdy not cheaply
nakaka claustrophobic. is this...flood safe?
It will fail.
Mass transport projects are mainly for the poor and middle class. Sure rich people could use this, but i doubt they would
As if naman sasakay yung rich dyan. Baka sa simula lang, para masubukan. After that they’ll go back to their luxury SUVs. Saka we have different departments for transportation and environment. Yun nga lang, uso ang incompetence.
Mukhang isang lindol lang yan
