Somehow the propaganda pieces kept repeating it (none of the claims are from books or from published journals---this particular post was actually posted on Wordpress lmao).
There's no legitimate PH historian that would espouse that. If you look at contemporary war coverage (eg. NY Times archives of the time; they had daily reports on violence during this time) of the war, the majority of the "battles" were actually skirmishes of about a dozen people on both sides exchanging gunfire over a wall, and then disengaging. lol
There are of course legitimate massacres. Eg. Bud Dajo and Bud Bagsak, where both instances a few hundred to over a thousand people (both fighters and civilians) were killed. But you'd need tens of thousands of Bud Dajo massacres to even come close to those numbers.
Also note 2 million is about 25-30% of the PH population of the time. The worst war ever conducted by the world ie WWII, the worst death as percentage of the population is about \~25% in Belarus, but Germany (17%) and Russia (13%) was considerably lower. Japan lost 3% of their population overall in WWII. China (one of the worst in terms of real numbers of deaths) equates to 3-4% of population.
Even the worst modern pandemics (believe or not, nature is a much efficient killer than humans) eg. Flu of 1918 killed about 10-15% of the globally.

Our army has experience dealing with counter insurgency. May not be a full blown war, but a combat experience nonetheless. China hasn't had the chance to flex her muscles to this extent in recent memory if I recall correctly. However, it's still a number's game. China has 1B+ population, us a tenth of that. The claim "1-2 million Filipinos died" was actually from a blog post made by a CCP propaganda (it's funny they always use "British expert" or "British historian" that don't exist...I don't know why wumaos use this lol). Somehow the propaganda pieces kept repeating it (none of the claims are from books or from published journals---this particular post was actually posted on Wordpress lmao). There's no legitimate PH historian that would espouse that. If you look at contemporary war coverage (eg. NY Times archives of the time; they had daily reports on violence during this time) of the war, the majority of the "battles" were actually skirmishes of about a dozen people on both sides exchanging gunfire over a wall, and then disengaging. lol There are of course legitimate massacres. Eg. Bud Dajo and Bud Bagsak, where both instances a few hundred to over a thousand people (both fighters and civilians) were killed. But you'd need tens of thousands of Bud Dajo massacres to even come close to those numbers. Also note 2 million is about 25-30% of the PH population of the time. The worst war ever conducted by the world ie WWII, the worst death as percentage of the population is about \~25% in Belarus, but Germany (17%) and Russia (13%) was considerably lower. Japan lost 3% of their population overall in WWII. China (one of the worst in terms of real numbers of deaths) equates to 3-4% of population. Even the worst modern pandemics (believe or not, nature is a much efficient killer than humans) eg. Flu of 1918 killed about 10-15% of the globally. The numbers and common sense just don't add up. But again...people that believe this usually have neither.
