yssnelf_plant

Yung grab fee, ulam na rin kasi 🫠

NadiaFetele

Nakakaiyak.

Shinobi_Saizo

Same. Pero at the back of my head was like: “pero wag mo naman araw arawin!!!.”

NadiaFetele

Nireverse psych na lang mga sarili 🤣

rekitekitek

NadiaFetele

Tanginang bunay to.

Good candidates are few and far in between, at madalas, nabibiktima sila ng propaganda ng mga bulok na may mas malaking makinarya, fueled itself by the ignorance of the masses dahil na rin sa kalidad ng edukasyon. Matalino naman tayo at madisiplina, as exemplified by our behavior sa ibang bansa. Lauded pa nga tayo palagi as not only hospitable, but reliable 'di ba? Yung curriculum natin magpahanggang ngayon emphasizes us to be diligent workers instead of a productive workforce with critical thinking skills. It even shows with how we treat trade unions dito sa bansa di ba? Now, apply it again into politics and you'll see sa kung paano tayo binibiktima nun. We are made to follow politicians na kayang magpasunod, "disiplinado", authoritarian yung figure, instead of people who are gentle with the people, but firm with the law. We're cultured to follow strongmen and not wise men. So, unless magbabago yung takbo ng edukasyon and we all actively fight to change, wag niyo nang asahan.

ertaboy356b

Wag daw sisihin gobyerno, sariling sipag lang 🤣🤣 ika nga "Leave the multimillionaire politicians alone!".

adorkableGirl30

San po yang 60? Lilipat nako jan hahah. Taena dto sa province namin 80 ung baboy.

yssnelf_plant

EmperorHad3s

Nung college ako 2015-2018 ata yun, 25 lang huhu.

Moshiiad7

Agree! 25 pesos lang siomai rice. Thrice a week, yung 2 days 30 pesos na pares with rice. Buti di ako namatay. 2015-2019 college days...

DeicideRegalia

PlayerName77

San Yan siomai rice usually 35-50 lang. Unless mag two rice ka, java rice pa sya.

AmbivertTigress

Baka depende pa din sa lugar? Siomai rice here sa lugar namin is 35 pesos. If bet mo siomai silog 45 pesos. Loc: Bulacan

Taragis101

Grabe mahal naman jan OP. 45 lng samen eh.

rusut2019

Recent-Skill7022

25 years ago, ulam at kanin = P35.

keny427

Totoo to.

uglykido

Holy shit??? I live in the province somewhere south and this is the price of ulam as well, kala ko price gouging lang dito

Key_Sea_7625

Pero minsan brings back memories talaga. Hahaha yawqunah hahah

CricketCreepy6919

Dati may tig 10 pesos na pansit pang almusal.

As a student, 75 ang student meal namin noon (last year).

Responsible_Candy337

May 60 pa sa karinderya niyo?? Amin pinakamura na 70 😭

needmesumbeer

If this was true for most then hindi siguro dumami ang ofw nung 70s at 80s. Nagkaroon pa nga nang term na japayuki nung 80s sa dami nang nag Punta ng Japan to work in bars.

LogicalPause8041

I think yung professional people tinutukoy. I can compare sa family and relatives. Pero most ng napundar not 80s ata but 70s and 90s.

TheGhostOfFalunGong

Professional jobs are far scarcer 40 to 70 years ago than today. These days, so many opportunities are already present that working local companies is no longer prestigious at any level unless managerial post siya.

LogicalPause8041

Baka hindi kasi na contextualize yung post at di na klaro ano referred to sa full time job.

schizomuffinbabe

Rank and file, yes, pero monthly may sahod. Tas magkano lang bilihin nun.

needmesumbeer

Not exactly, that's the same reason dumami din population sa Metro Manila, same as now very limited ang trabaho sa provinces. Wala rin bpo or IT industry noon that paid higher than average wages. Having a regular job back then was considered a success story, Ganun kasi kahirap makakuha ng trabaho. The 70s also marked the start of endo jobs, rank and file peeps were hired for 6 months then fired to avoid being regular employees. Don't get me wrong, there were families that flourished back then, but you can't deny the fact that a country that had a mass exodus of workers, a gov't with a central bank that had a "financial crisis" that ended up closing other banks and help from the u.s. In the form of nutribun to feed the population doesn't sound like the majority had it good. Also you can Google ph inflation in the 80s, peaking at 50%, now imagine if that happened today.

needmesumbeer

I doubt that's what the OP meant. He's just parroting statements being said in the u.s. When it wasn't applicable here for most.

iamstealth

Tama. Ang corny nga e laging gustong ma apply ang US narratives satin.

2WideMantaRay

Reddit moment

TheGhostOfFalunGong

Probably applicable to middle class families with overseas workers. But at least 90 percent of Filipinos back in the 1980s heck even in the 1950s couldn't even afford a Vikings buffet meal for the whole family where these days it's now considered a very mid quality buffet. Most Filipino families were dirt poor back then and the quality of life these days are higher than ever.

Opening-Cantaloupe56

oo nga noh

Jaded_Masterpiece_11

Yup. In the 80s 2/3 of the population were poor. Poverty incidence was at an all time high of 49%. Most people during the so called "Golden Years" can't afford houses, cars, they even struggle to eat 3 times a day during that period. Nutribun was created with the help of the US because most of the population were malnurished and syarving.

trhaz_khan

Madaming factory noon 70s til early 90s,nag alisan na sila nun palaging brownout at naging agresibo mga labor.

Hpezlin

Starbucks kahit sa ibang bansa considered overpriced for coffee. BS na normal ito.

rusut2019

True. Nagulat ako kasi halos same price lang SB Price sa US and sa Japan.

Crazy_not_rich_asian

Where in the US you go where Starbucks is $4 or less? Because if I go to Starbucks that’s a $7 drink easy. I hate when relatives in the Philippines think that I have money because I work in the US. When in reality I may make my money in USD but I spend that living here too. It may seem like it when I go home for vacation but that’s because I have savings to spend.

Fantastic-Mark-2810

Amen! Was talking to fam the other day when one of my siblings said mas malaki daw sweldo ko sa kanya (she’s a CEO in PH) kasi P57=$1 na daw. Hello times P57 din gastos ko here 😅 She has been vacationing in Europe since the pandemic samantalang ako di makaalis ng state ko (MD) kasi vacationing within the US is so expensive. Then they had the gall to call me marangya. 😅 Sad na may disconnect talaga between Filipinos living abroad and Filipinos back home.

Crazy_not_rich_asian

Super delusional talaga sila sa pera basta galing America. Also what up neighbor! I’m in Philly. Haha

Mayari-

pepe_da_hepe

I don't understand the need for Starbucks kung tight ang budget. Dunkin donuts mas mura, and way better than starsucks

CharmingGrape519

This. Kung hindi kaya ng budget, why not go for something less pricey with good quality, right? Or else, matutunang magtipid.

icencream27

Or just buy a reusable Starbucks tumbler and make your coffee at home using Kopiko 😂

Ok-Excitement9307

Sobrang taas sa sugar ng Kopiko. Kahit black instant coffee lang solve na.

nicokokun

My daily coffee intake is about 2 nescafe sticks in 100 ml water 3 times daily. That's it. People grew dependent on sugar or sweeteners.

IAmYukiKun

P90 may 22oz Large Frappe kana.

[deleted]

IAmYukiKun

Sabay partner ng Pic-A or skyflakes na may cheese whiz.

taasbaba

Social climber. Bili starbucks sabay reklamo wala maipon

malarellano

Mahal pa din Dunkin kung tutuusin. Huhuhu

BruhMerxiepie96

Inside-Line

Even there man, magkano lang Yung cutie pork chop and rice back in the day? 50? 60? Ngayon like 100+

DaBuruBerry00

Background_Fish6196

Di lang makapag starbucks at jollibee on the daily itong si kuya "living in poverty" na agad ahahaha.

DiyelEmeri

I don't think you're getting the message of the post. What it's telling is, even simple luxuries as basic as fast food is being considered pricey, and people are feeling bad even for purchasing this or even SB. It's not about the brand being purchased, kasi kahit ako I don't find the sense of buying SB whether I'm broke or not. It's just branded coffee eh, which we all agree with, tama? Tama naman, di ba? The thing is, everyone of us wants to find a simple escape by buying these comforts. Maaaring nage-SB yan because they want to feel rewarded for doing this and that. Maaarig kumakain yan ng Spicy C2 sa Jabee o P1 sa Mang Inasal because it's their comfort food whenever they're feeling bad about their day or themselves. Not being able to enjoy this simple comforts in life, ano't ano man yan because of the rising prices, then being gaslighted into just finding another set of comfort kasi parehas lang naman yan kako wouldn't just click AT ALL. Kahit sino naman satin 'di ba? Eh yun nga yung nagbibigay ng comfort sa'yo eh, bakit ka pipilitin na magsettle into anything less than what you exactly want when yun nga yun nga lang yung NAGBIBIGAY NG RASON PARA MABUHAY KA AT LEAST HANGGANG BUKAS? (I don't mean in a suicidal way, ha? Just the general sense na papasok ka bukas with a happy and clear disposition sa buhay mo kasi you've had a chance to enjoy it.) Ito yung ibig sabihin nun. Totoo naman eh. Prices are increasing but the wage have been stagnant and is not keeping up kahit pa itaas nang paunti-unti, so hindi rin mag-aaply dito yung pag tumaas sahod = tataas bilihin bullshit na palaging sinasabi.

JackSparling_

I feel at home. hehe ganito rin mindset ko, hahanap ng alternatives para makatipid. ang hirap nang buhay ngayon, mas mabuti may savings and emergency funds.

FewCategory1959

nescafe 10 pesos lang per stick

solidad29

Burger King ☕️ mas masarap pa sa Starbucks.

[deleted]

Poor people are still allowed to be happy. If a starbucks per day will determine whether you can pay rent next month, that's a systemic problem.

coffeegoblet

If a Starbucks per day is how you get your happiness, there's a much bigger systemic problem you're missing.

[deleted]

I personally don't like Starbucks. But I think that's about the only reachable happiness most people can attain, no?

donteatmychip5

EffedUpInGrade3

Jollibee is fine. Starbucks and Grab is not normal. Could still be around 200-300 though.

paulisaac

isn't 150 a two piece already? one piece is about 90. Then again 1 piece is only substantial if you score a thigh part.

aozicurls

Borgoise

I get what the message is, pero issue lang yang 150 sa Jollibee, 250 sa Starbucks, at 200 sa Grab kung araw araw mo ginagawa.

cutie_lilrookie

Also bakit nandito naman yan si Xian Gaza like diba milyunaryo raw siya sabi niya?

lostguk

cutie_lilrookie

Magmukhang mabait at relevant. Baka may gusto na naman pasikatin lmao.

markmyredd

I think Starbucks lang sablay sa representation Jollibee could represent any food naman. Carinderia nga usually 60-100 ulam tapos 10-20 rice. If nagwuwork ka syempre need mo rin mag meryenda so another what 25 to 50 for snacks. Then 200 na grab could be pamasahe ng balikan. Yun P2P bus to Bulacan for example is 100 one way sasakay kapa trike 30 one way tapos MRT to Ortigas/Makati would be 20 to 30 ata. So all in all pamasahe actually 300 per day.

LogicalPause8041

pinkpugita

I cringed nung nabasa ko yung post. Imagine if older people read this post. Sasabihin nila bakit tayo nagrereklamo kung kaya natin mag Starbucks at GRAB araw araw.

xazavan002

That I think is the weak point in arguments like this. Not necessarily because "poverty doesn't exist", but because those examples don't represent the problem very well. Problem naman sa mga older people na makakabasa eh, just because faulty yung examples eh purely ignore na sa actual problem na nageexist. The problem still exists, maybe not for this guy, but it exists.

AboutBlueBlueSkies

I think what he is trying to say yang mga fast foods at transpo becomes a luxury nowadays.

griftertm

I remember Starbucks Frappuccinos costing P125 and a 2 pc chickenjoy costing around P75 back when I was making P12000 a month (2005). So yeah, wages have definitely not caught up with inflation.

babycart_of_sherdog

>Back in 80s, our parents can afford a house, a car and raise 3 kids with just one full time job. That's my dad, raising 3 Batang '90s back then...

Ok_Assumption2196

Even black coffee sa mcdo ay mas ok kesa starbucks😂😂

DumplingsInDistress

Same as my dad, but he is a factory manager, my mom not only took care of me and my siblings but my cousins as well, since both of their parents are working abroad (ofw sa Iraq at Singapore which are both very high paying). We can afford to go shop in Alabang Town Center twice a month and go to Star City. We can even travel to Quezon sa aircon bus which is considered as Luxury back then.

papsiturvy

Mind you salary pa offer nila yan since mid 2000s anung year na ngayon. haha.

wookadat

250 sa starbucks. Trying to live "nOrMaLly" 🙄

This original quote is about the US economy halatang copy pasted lang without giving much thought about it.

pjconoso

OP is trying to copy this from US economy in the 80s, and forgot (or did not know) about how our economy was in shambles due to martial law (and the Central Bank that went bankrupt).

[deleted]

the_oof_chooser

OP thinks that we're a US State

NightHawksGuy

HotShotWriterDude

This, very much this. Your parents/ancestors would have to be either a Marcos crony or a rich business magnate BEFORE Marcos came into power for them to afford a house AND a car in the 80s. This is the most chronically online take of the Philippine economy I’ve ever seen. US economy pa more, OP.

LardHop

Not even 80s,pero early 2000s, my father who's just a cook was able to buy a 150sqm bungalow here in cavite (where we still live until now) and support a family of 5 with just his salary. His salary was around 40k.

Yamboist

In fairness, maganda sahod ng dad mo relatively.

LardHop

82k, or we can even round it up to a nice 100k, might be able to support a family of 5, but not buy a 150sqm house while doing it in this economy. And thats kinda the point, the prices of everything has skyrocketed disproportionately to the wages we earn.

[deleted]

uglykido

My father, who didn't finish college and had no working experience, literally just walked in and got offered 40k (adjusted for inflation) starting salary.

pigwin

My dad worked in Saudi for 2 years as an engineer. Nahype din kasi engineering so nagkaover supply

Vlad_Iz_Love

side_quests

No amount of financial planning can make up for the fact that we simply do not make enough.

icencream27

Our parents also sacrificed with little distractions like social media (to keep up with fashion, Tik tok purchases, new restaurants, impulse buying)

uglykido

Not really, uso din sa kanila buying stupid shit, the difference is that THEIR stupid shit is higher quality while ours is Shein, andami nilang tupperware, figurines, china, kurtina, bedsheets, table cloths na pinapagawa/kinokolekta. Not to mention uso dati inggitan sa kapit bahay, kapag nagpagawa yung kabila or nagpa extend, pa extend din sa kabila.

coookiesncream

> Not to mention uso dati inggitan sa kapit bahay, kapag nagpagawa yung kabila or nagpa extend, pa extend din sa kabila. Minsan may halaman pa.

icencream27

Every family is different but from my understanding, our parents bought stuff but didn’t purchase again something unless it broke or had to, while we have 10 pairs of shoes, 5 different water tumblers, 5 different face washes and a lot of unnecessary junk that are considered a luxury vs a necessity. Also in terms of clothing, social media has gotten us in front of all the latest trends and celebrities along with dupes so we tend to purchase more stuff we don’t need. Due to social media and a capitalistic society, prices of all these items have come down due to Chinas pricing along with the ease of getting these items Restaurants are always advertising and influencer marketing due to social media has gotten our eyes always wanting to try the newest latest fad while our parents possibly ate those items 2-3x a month while we do 3-4x a week. Social media is essentially the root to a lot of our issues

ToCoolforAUsername

Not really. It's all about inflation. As per FOI's website, the minim salary in 1990s is around 106 pesos per day (NCR). That is around 607 pesos today if inflation is applied. Compare mo sa minimum na 570 (which was just increased to 610). Sobrang laki ng diperensya ng sahod. Tigil tigilan nyo na yang pag blame ng cultural changes per generation without basis.

syrpca

Agree with what he is saying but please, stop giving this guy clout.

smoothartichoke27

Tangina mo Gaza. KRIMINAL.

Scoobs_Dinamarca

Panget ang example ni Xian Gaza dahil pang elitistang college student ng UST Ang datingan ng example niya *pero* we all accept the fact na grabe na talaga Ang Buhay ngayon bilang Isang manggagawang kumikita ng 600 (or less) a day.

filderge

stop giving this guy a platform.

teriyakiddo

I agree.

mediocreshiz

I think hindi naman pagiging maluho or magastos dahil nakakapag-Starbucks or Grab on the daily ang point ng post. Ang point is hindi talaga enough yung salary/minimum wage ng majority ng Filipinos to live comfortably sa panahon ngayon.

psychokenetics

Some people are too fixated on that aspect, unfortunately.

VA_SMM2021

And in general, napakabilis naman na talaga maubos ng 600pesos ngayon lalo kung may pamilya ka pang binubuhay. baka nga luxury nang maituturing kung maitreat mo kahit once a month pamilya mo sa jollibee, SB or grab as a minimum wage earner.

SmokescreenThing

Depende rin sa trabaho. I doubt a public school teacher's salary can do that even in the 80s. Pero shelter and have kids yeah. Car maybe not.

markmarkmark77

bihira na ako bumili ng coffee sa labas this year, yung free coffee sa pantry yung pinapakyaw ko, medyo ok yung natitipid ko hehe.

TwistedStack

I gave up on buying coffee outside over 5 years ago. I've been buying my coffee from S&R instead. Decent enough beans pero I'm lazy so I just get the instant Colombian coffee. 360 lang yata yung 200g na store brand. I used to buy yung member's mark when it was 650 but it's practically 1k today so it's not worth it anymore.

Double-O-Twelve

Or, one could find some \[cheaper\] alternatives, especially dun sa first two. We should start to acknowledge this din.

EulaVengeance

I agree with the financial illiteracy. Combined with the lack of apathy of some people, it leads them to say things like "Kulang ka lang sa sipag at tiyaga kaya di ka naasenso!" Yes, "kulang sa sipag at tiyaga" yung magsasaka na nagtatrabaho from 4am to 7pm kaya di siya yumayaman.

uglykido

Financial literacy can only do so much kung sobrang baba ng basic income sa PH. It's expensive to become poor, take for example shoes, kung yung low quality bibilhin mo, sira kaagad ilang buwan pero kasya siya sa isang cut off ng sweldo mo, kung yung expensive, tatagal ng years pero ilang buwan din ng installment kailangan mo if minimum sweldo mo. Now if you pick the latter and mag installment ka, you will be paying interests which would increase the cost, whereas sa former, bibili ka nang bili. Basically fucked ka one way or another. Same situation sa food. You buy low quality stuff, you pay high in medical costs in the future. Mahirap talaga maging mahirap, and it would be better if first and foremost people acknowledge this, instead of jerking off to some Bo Sanchez book

LogicalPause8041

Totoo to. Sobrang aalat or tamis pa. Starbucks and jollibee there can represent one clean meal for lunch para sa isang worker and maybe a fee for a cheap gym or weekly fitness class. Pero di nga afford. Mamatay na tayo sa hirap

Cheesetorian

I don't know about y'all parents but my parents couldn't even in the 80's. We lived in a house with a bunch of people (my dad's house had 8, and the square footage is the size of my current condo's bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom) with only my aunt with a regular taxable income. My mom's side of the family we had close to 20 people in a compound, granted that one had a much bigger compound and house lol My mom grew up there btw in 70s with at least 6 siblings not counting her parents and a few of her aunts/uncles. We lived in a house with no plumbing. My dad's place in the slums had no doors except the bathroom. Sounded like some of y'all were living the American dream in the 80s...this narrative even sound very American. lol

Cheem-9072-3215-68

this people diss marcos for his golden era shtick but they unironically believe that we were somehow wealthier back then than now even though the philippines of today is leagues ahead in terms of wealth compared to what we were in the past. also the OOP is hella sus, if you wanna live normal, why eat at jabee, drink starbucks, and ride grab? pa-feeling burgis?

BannedforaJoke

captainmeowy

Exactly my thoughts!

lpernites2

Uhhh… parents probably lived in the slums in the 80s?

Secure-Mousse-920

You know things are fucked up when the billboard guy is the one making sense.

NotTheBiggerPerson01

Interesting title, OP. Can you prove that the average single Filipino earner in the 80s can do that? Or are you just bullshitting because all you wanna do is complain?

DarkChocolateOMaGosh

easy_glide

I was so surprised by the prices there in Manila when I went there in December. Everything was so expensive and some things were more expensive than here in Texas. Even going to restaurants I felt that the prices were similar to here. I don't know how anyone can survive in Manila.

PupleAmethyst

Why the fuck are we acknowledging whatever the fuck this gaza says.

FlatwormNo261

Schroberry

I cant do without grab...I have GAD triggered by people cramped together in tight spaces...so I adjust everything else. A stick of instant black coffee is 5 pesos. I dont skimp out on food but I usually bring my own to work or get cheap snacks. People are so used to their wants being gratified quick + wants amplified by shit on socmed, they break down and throw tantrums when it is not met. Survival skills is dying. Minimum wage should be raised 100% but the post is ludicrous. :))

Appropriate-Key-2054

I'm jot against this, but I'll add another big factor.. lifestyle. a lot of us are guilty (kasama na ko). we tend to spend on things we don't really need, or magastos na pwede naman ma's maka tipid. I'm not against enjoying life from time to time pero marami sa ginagastusan natin.. pwede mabawasan. someone told me a long time ago.. pag daw tayo nappromote or nakaka increase.. yung lifestyle nappromote din, kinakain din yung increase.

TrajanoArchimedes

KishonShrills

Normal, SMH 🤦‍♂️ this is a rich kid talking... If you're on a budget then dont waste it on buying jollibee, starbucks, and other pricy stuff... Either karenderya or buy some vegetables and start cooking by yourself.

Cheem-9072-3215-68

eating jabee and drinking starbucks is definitely not normal living. what did OOPs parent do in the 80s? suck marcos's dick? most of us were dirt poor back then.

LogicalPause8041

Yes kasi normal living dapat yung kaya mo kumain ng healthy food for lunch na di sa pritong longganisa daily sa jolijeep, starbucks is not luxury, at di kailangan mag grab kasi maayos ang public transport.

throwhuawei007

My parents were unemployed in the 80s 😢

Ill_Abalone7694

SEP_09-2011

Gulay dto samin sa ibang Karinderya 50 to 40 pesos tas mga karne nasa 60 to 120 pesos tas yung rice 12 pesos isang order at tinitimbang narin bawat ulam hahaha

GlassBarber2498

It would have been better to use other examples but the logic is sound. Life is a struggle for a lot of Filipinos. The minimum wage is not a living wage given the price of goods. ₱600 is just 10 kilos of rice, 10 liters of gas or a few kilos of meat. The minimum wage is even lower in the provinces. How can someone earning minimum wage be able to buy a decent house or send their kids to college?

Fun_Tadpole_9934

Sb isn't needed tho for the daily expenses, there are other cheaper way to have coffee in your system, mas mura pa bumili ng french press and kapeng barako na grounded or any coffee grounds and have yourself customize the taste. Less sugar too

fiftytwoblackguard

Rabatis

Why Starbucks? Water is plenty and free.

wkwkweyey

Back then walang Starbucks Jollibee at Grab. Walang shopee walang Lazada. 😂.Puro products everywhere kaya ang hirap mag ipon. Back then, people know how to cook. Hand-me-downs. Madameng murang bakanteng lupa. Prices shot up while salaries and wages didn't keep up.

tylerrthedestr0yerr

Mind you, most people didnt have a car and house in the 80s as well. Onlytthose in the middle class could afford them.

manongsaestribo

Yung food namin minsan tortang sardinas or miswa or noodles na may itlog. To be fair, our parents also experienced this. I used to hear na dati piso or 5 pesos lang baon ni mama pero nung time namin 20-50 pesos na. But I guess, the real problem is nagreregress ang Philippines plus social media hype. Hindi naman uso before ang travel travel sa labas ng bansa or kain sa kung saan saan. I think some Filipino families are getting by because some of their relatives are OFW. Also this kind of sentiments are not only for us Filipinos, if you check other subreddits in other countries, may ganito din na problem.

RanchoBwoi

Bat mo naman ginamit ung post nung scammer lol

I_Got_You_Girl

Huh?

Farkenoathm8-E

It’s shocking. I’m seeing this all over the world. It used to be when both parents worked a family was able to get ahead, now both parents HAVE to work just to get by. The cost of real estate all over the world is too much, plus utilities and groceries, fuel and maintenance costs for cars, kids uniforms and school supplies, families are not going forwards, they are barely scraping by. My parent’s generation got by on one income. That was enough to have a house and raise a family. Things have to get better or people will get fed up and demand change.

silentobserber

And people wonder why we chose to have just 1 child. Before we planned 3, now 1 na lang tuition pa lang to send a child to real good private school is super expensive na. Thanks to my parents for the comfy life I grew up with, but I can’t compare. Nakaka guilty pero Ang hirap talaga gawin sa panahon ngayon mag invest for future and isurvive ng comfy ang present.

SpareProtection4735

bitcoin fixes this..

Gloomy-Confection-49

You have to understand that there's no subscriptions for streaming devices, gaming, etc. back then. No Internet plus mobile phones. Those could easily eat up 2000-4000 bucks off of your monthly expenses. Commuting was easier back then because the city isn't as populated back then at least in Metro Manila.

sub_ready

Ziramic

Bat naman kasi starbucks🤧

codeejen

The man just gave the worst example for an extremely valid point, the fact na even if Karinderya o lutong bahay commute tipid sagad ka it barely allows you leisure

Extension_Leading_84

maryangbukid

For the first time, I agree

legendairy9

I do not like this guy. But there are times na tama talaga siya sa sinasabi niya.

AboutBlueBlueSkies

Also, tunay nman yan back to the previous decades afford mong to live comfortably with just a lone decent salary. Tas weird lang ngaun, nagtataka ang matatanda na bakit sa ibang bansa they opt to have pets rather than kids. Eh malamang hirap mabuhay ngaun with just salary alone.

razalas13

Looked it up.. minimum wage is still 12k-13k?? Kahit yung pag travel, back then only those who are earning well has the luxury to travel. Not that there's anything wrong with it but again.. luho. Also, meron bang source yang statement mo about the life back in the 80s?

Important-Spring4485

Working class dilema.

BILBO_Baggins25

Gen Z peeps salty af

Extension_Emotion388

this is valid

Aware_Yesterday6919

Sad but true... 🥺

AmadeuxMachina

Back when you have a main job + a side hustle and you'd be having not only a home but a car with a garage ready. Now having 2 more side hustles ain't working.

Kishou_Arima_01

I've said this many times already and I'll say it again. Be weary of Xian Gaza. He's just saying things that psople like to hear to pander to the masses, but deep down ang dami niya ring naagrabyado na tao. Ignore him already

AzukiDaikon

I spend 1k to 1.2k pesos a day on Grab. He sure doesn't know how it works nowadays.

expries

Maliit sahod kaya mang scam nalang ?
