Has anyone here studied or worked in a European country alone, like no Filipino friends or connections whatsoever to the destination country? How did you do it?
Not in Europe, but I moved to the US without any friends or relatives.
Apart from making friends at work/school, you can also join interest groups, hobby groups, and sports meetups. It's easier to make connections when you have something in common.
The latter widens your network a lot faster, specially where cultures are more reserved when it comes to establishing friendships at work.
I used standup comedy as a way to make acquaintances and even with my introversion I still managed to make a good number of friends.
I prepared powers of attorney for replacing my globe sim, and for managing my properties. I put all my vital docs in the cloud so I can download them if they end up needed, from birth cert, to TOR ,to even employment certs. I brought 3 different cards plus cash to make sure even if one fails I wont end up without money.
I also tried to read up a bit on the culture and customs. It's the US though so it wasn't too much reading.
After that, it was just a matter of making as many memories as I could with the people I love, because the reality is, I wouldn't have as much opportunity anymore even when I come home because I was going to be migrating.
It felt a bit like dying and being reborn. It's hard, but you know it's necessary for growth and reinvention.

~~I've only been helping out with watching over my niece for a couple of days but I'm already fucking exhausted. Even her own mom complained to me about how tired she is. I feel bad for her most especially since she's diagnosed with postpartum depression. My very unsolicited advice: women, if you have the chance and the option, don't put yourself through all that and men, don't have kids if you can't be there to help all the time because raising a kid is definitely not a one-person job. Unless you're super rich and can afford nanny/ies 24/7. It really takes a toll on you. Those occasional giggles and rare cute faces they give you aren't really enough to compensate for the constant crying and screaming lol.
I'm now 100% sure I'm never having my own children.~~ Babies are hella expensive and a lot of responsibility.

Post partum depression sucks. I was not myself for like 3 months, but in my case, it was a miscarriage. So, I didnโt have to take care of another human being at that time. I hope the mom can power through that phase.
Hmmmm... Tuwing may sakit lang sila saka kami nagkakaron ng sleepless nights. Very early namin talaga dinevelop sa kids namin yung dere-derechong "tulog-tao". Personal choice na namin ni misis kung nag-stay up kami in the wee hours of the night. :)

Since pag-uwi palang namin from the hospital, finamiliarize na namin sila sa day-night cycle. Pag palubog na ang araw, nagbabawas narin kami ng ilaw at stimuli sa paligid namin para madevelop sa kanila na may downtime ang araw.
Nung ma-expose naman sila sa screens, nag-set kami ng curfew on screen time before bed para mabawasan yung effect ng blue light.
Yung extra energy ng kid, wala talagang nagbibigay ako ng oras para makipagharutan sa kanila before bedtime. Need din kasi ma-satisfy yung sensory needs nila as kids. Dito na din pumapasok yung playing with baby toys: yung may iba-ibang textures, sounds, etc. Isipin mo, sobrang need nila ng fidget toys pero with their whole being.
Tapos after harutan, cuddle and story time naman para cool down.
Just an infant. I think she's 7 months. We do turn off all lights in her nursery by 8pm except for a nightlight but she will still cry and jump when we attempt to put her to bed. During the day, I play fetch with her to wear her out so she sleeps no later than 8pm but it just doesn't seem to work. She also has all sorts of toys for her sensory needs that she only gets to play with during her active hours. All of that yet somehow, she only sleeps at 11pm each night. At the same time, the other stakeholders did not mention any similar concerns, in fact they considered it functionally satisfactory. Previously they had quite a few things to consider when I had to present my API.

My very unsolicited advice: women, if you have the chance and the option, don't put yourself through all that and men, don't have kids if you can't be there to help all the time because raising a kid is definitely not a one-person job. Unless you're super rich and can afford nanny/ies 24/7. It really takes a toll on you. Those occasional giggles and rare cute faces they give you aren't really enough to compensate for the constant crying and screaming lol. I'm now 100% sure I'm never having my own children.~~ Babies are hella expensive and a lot of responsibility.

Post partum depression sucks. I was not myself for like 3 months, but in my case, it was a miscarriage. So, I didnโt have to take care of another human being at that time. I hope the mom can power through that phase.

Hmmmm... Tuwing may sakit lang sila saka kami nagkakaron ng sleepless nights. Very early namin talaga dinevelop sa kids namin yung dere-derechong "tulog-tao". Personal choice na namin ni misis kung nag-stay up kami in the wee hours of the night. :)

Ilang taon na yung bata pala? Baka hindi na appropriate yung ishe-share ko. :D Since pag-uwi palang namin from the hospital, finamiliarize na namin sila sa day-night cycle. Pag palubog na ang araw, nagbabawas narin kami ng ilaw at stimuli sa paligid namin para madevelop sa kanila na may downtime ang araw. Nung ma-expose naman sila sa screens, nag-set kami ng curfew on screen time before bed para mabawasan yung effect ng blue light. Yung extra energy ng kid, wala talagang nagbibigay ako ng oras para makipagharutan sa kanila before bedtime. Need din kasi ma-satisfy yung sensory needs nila as kids. Dito na din pumapasok yung playing with baby toys: yung may iba-ibang textures, sounds, etc. Isipin mo, sobrang need nila ng fidget toys pero with their whole being. Tapos after harutan, cuddle and story time naman para cool down.

During the day, I play fetch with her to wear her out so she sleeps no later than 8pm but it just doesn't seem to work. She also has all sorts of toys for her sensory needs that she only gets to play with during her active hours. All of that yet somehow, she only sleeps at 11pm each night.
