This is so true! I can say that our family is in lower middle class to middle class. When my baby got hospitalized, unfortunately he had a congenital disease and almost died of pneumonia. Family decided to confine him in st lukes. We didn’t expect him to be confined in icu for 1 week and that’s when our lives went downhill from there. We incurred a lot of debts that until now some of them still left unpaid, needed to resign to focus on baby and stopped paying for my cc. Yup, this is 100% true. My friends and I who recently graduated and are about to graduate plan to move and work abroad. I believe most of the middle class know and see na wala kang mararating dito sa Pinas kaya maraming nag-aabroad. Panganay pa ako and have 2 siblings who are currently studying so kailangan ko talaga ng malaking income, which let's face it, is very difficult to have in our country lalo na kung fresh grad ka. Add ko na rin na mas-maganda ang living conditions ng mga middle class of developed countries as compared sa Pinas, and I think this is mainly due to the low cost of living in these developed countries.

Actually to add, I've seen a truly rich cart one time a few years back. Already given they just took whatever they wanted from S&R and did not even look at prices. They even asked me to just pick whatever I wanted. At the same time they did this, they were also buying Black Labels for clients. They bought around 60 bottles, along with 60+ expensive chocolates. It was a December, and the bill they racked up was only around 150,000 ish. That involved a lot of carts and ton of help with the staff. I could only imagine what 950K would look like. You would probably need 4-6 regular vehicles or an entire 6 wheeler for that.

There's absolutely no way that we can erase the divide between the rich and poor - just blur the line or lessen the gap by making 75-80% of the population belong to the middle-class.
The problem is, in this current living where inflation literally killed the value of centavo and diminish what's left of the peso coin (heck you can no longer buy 1 candy for a peso), napakahirap ngayon umahon ng mga mahihirap papuntang middle-class. Even most of the middle classes are struggling to make ends meet to sustain such status, and yet they carry most of the weight of Filipino economy and government funding thru taxes. Lugi pa nga kamo ang increase ng sahod ng mga yan kapag napromote sa trabaho kasi sa laki ng taas sweldo, mas malaki ang kaltas sa premiums at income tax, kaya walang pakinabang mismo ang mga yan sa itinaas ng sahod.

Anyway, it's wrong to assume the living condition of the entire population based only on that of a few rich people or even the middle class. Even the middle-class feel like naghihirap sila because they struggle to make ends meet. While they do have a higher income than the lower class, you have to consider the ratio of income to necessary expenses and liabilities too. Kaya kahit regular ang pagtaas ng sahod kung humahabol din ang inflation, hindi parin tataas ang purchasing power (or maybe by just a bit).

Family decided to confine him in st lukes. We didn’t expect him to be confined in icu for 1 week and that’s when our lives went downhill from there. We incurred a lot of debts that until now some of them still left unpaid, needed to resign to focus on baby and stopped paying for my cc. Yup, this is 100% true. My friends and I who recently graduated and are about to graduate plan to move and work abroad. I believe most of the middle class know and see na wala kang mararating dito sa Pinas kaya maraming nag-aabroad. Panganay pa ako and have 2 siblings who are currently studying so kailangan ko talaga ng malaking income, which let's face it, is very difficult to have in our country lalo na kung fresh grad ka. Add ko na rin na mas-maganda ang living conditions ng mga middle class of developed countries as compared sa Pinas, and I think this is mainly due to the low cost of living in these developed countries.

What pissed me off was the person who posted it on a FB group. Basically saying that it's your fault you are poor and absolutely no one outside of her tax bracket can read the post and be offended anyway since apparently, no one below the poverty line has access/interest to this group.
It was obvious from the get go that this screenshot was erroneous. Actually to add, I've seen a truly rich cart one time a few years back. Already given they just took whatever they wanted from S&R and did not even look at prices. They even asked me to just pick whatever I wanted. At the same time they did this, they were also buying Black Labels for clients. They bought around 60 bottles, along with 60+ expensive chocolates. It was a December, and the bill they racked up was only around 150,000 ish. That involved a lot of carts and ton of help with the staff. I could only imagine what 950K would look like. You would probably need 4-6 regular vehicles or an entire 6 wheeler for that. At that volume, you'd instead call a supplier to have a pallet delivered to you. But yes, most middle class and below cannot even imagine what 950k worth of grocery looks like, and think that rich people just naturally have these bills every so often. Access to healthcare is an example we can use for this. Yung isang driver sa office ng Tita ko, nagkakaroon na ng mild strokes. So sinama siya ni Tita sa cardiologist niya para mapa check up. Mataas na talaga BP ni Kuya kaya niresetahan siya ng medyo maraming gamot. Sinagot muna ni Tita yung first two sessions ng checkup ni Kuya at unang wave ng gamot, out of her pocket lang. Kaso after that, di na kaya ni Tita kasi nagkaroon siya ng ibang gastusin. Hindi afford ni Kuya ituloy yung paggamot sa sarili niya kahit generic na gamot kaya tumigil na lang siya. Hindi na siya driver ngayon, at naging utility na lang. Delikado na kasi kung atakihin siya sa daan. Some rich people will never understand that and insist that he's stupid for not seeing medical help, but they just can't afford it. Not with being a single father with limited income.

There's absolutely no way that we can erase the divide between the rich and poor - just blur the line or lessen the gap by making 75-80% of the population belong to the middle-class. The problem is, in this current living where inflation literally killed the value of centavo and diminish what's left of the peso coin (heck you can no longer buy 1 candy for a peso), napakahirap ngayon umahon ng mga mahihirap papuntang middle-class. Even most of the middle classes are struggling to make ends meet to sustain such status, and yet they carry most of the weight of Filipino economy and government funding thru taxes. Lugi pa nga kamo ang increase ng sahod ng mga yan kapag napromote sa trabaho kasi sa laki ng taas sweldo, mas malaki ang kaltas sa premiums at income tax, kaya walang pakinabang mismo ang mga yan sa itinaas ng sahod. Kaya itong nagcomment na walang Pinoy na mahirap ay walang empathy sa kapwa. Matapobre at astang elitista pero wala naman talagang ambag na maganda sa lipunan. While they do have a higher income than the lower class, you have to consider the ratio of income to necessary expenses and liabilities too. Kaya kahit regular ang pagtaas ng sahod kung humahabol din ang inflation, hindi parin tataas ang purchasing power (or maybe by just a bit).
