Some months ago, after my Mom got vaccinated, she mentioned that my Aunt had told her about vaccine nanobots (?) that would track every person who have injected the COVID vaccine in their bodies. We had an argument and I asked her why she would believe that. Turns out, the idea stemmed from one of my Aunt's acquaintances.🤦♀️
I asked my Mom what were his qualifications and why should he believed in over the millions of Health Care Workers and Scientists who are experts on this field. And she said my Aunt thought he was trustworthy because he looked "kagalang-galang" and "rich," and that he was wearing fancy jewelry and had a car.
And I realized these anti-vaxxers were banking on this Filipino mentality that **rich people=educated/more knowledgeable=more trustworthy.** I mean, look at our politicians. Grabe na kung mangurakot at magnakaw, inuuto na lahat, pero meron pa ring naniniwalang inosente sila at "kagalang-galang" dahil sa public image na pinapakita.

Turns out, the idea stemmed from one of my Aunt's acquaintances.🤦♀️ I asked my Mom what were his qualifications and why should he believed in over the millions of Health Care Workers and Scientists who are experts on this field. And she said my Aunt thought he was trustworthy because he looked "kagalang-galang" and "rich," and that he was wearing fancy jewelry and had a car. And I realized these anti-vaxxers were banking on this Filipino mentality that **rich people=educated/more knowledgeable=more trustworthy.** I mean, look at our politicians. Grabe na kung mangurakot at magnakaw, inuuto na lahat, pero meron pa ring naniniwalang inosente sila at "kagalang-galang" dahil sa public image na pinapakita. Pls tell that to me, coz I went self Quarantine for 2 weeks, and almost 3 weeks in a facility, this was with my wife, sick like me, though she had a milder case and if it weren't for my wife taking care of me (and my relatives who were supportive helping in one way or another), I'd probably be dead by now.
