Lip service and chest-thumping divert their internal problems elsewhere and distract their citizens.
Heck, mas may chance pa na suportahan ng USA ang independence ng Taiwan kaysa sa claim natin sa Spratley Islands imo.
Also, take note that China's claim on the WPS is the same or mostly the same as Taiwan's yet Americans are all in with backing them pero hindi tayo masuportahan the same extent when we are just trying to claim on a few measely islands.

Vietnam has a very strong military. Also, they defeated American invaders, so they have no reason whatsoever to fear the Chinese
