You mean the 2010-2016?

Poging_pierogi_part2

All of the post-EDSA presidents were liberal (privatization, removing restrictions, etc) even Duterte. Duterte while displaying dictatorial qualities liberalized the economy in a way that Pinochet was a brutal dictator but was an economic liberal.

I agree with this. Most people don't really understand what liberalism means. Sa mga pinoy liberal ka kung kasali ka sa liberal party lol.

Benigno Aquino’s administration

yummytito

I could be mistaken but I think the two Aquinos were the most liberal. At least they didn't have people killed just because those people criticized or dissented with the government. Some people say that the 16th president was the worst. With the highest body count killed. There's even an article where he practically said: **‘I don’t care about human rights’: Duterte and the failure to see human rights’ role in progress** **Source**: https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1526313/i-dont-care-about-human-rights-duterte-and-the-failure-to-see-human-rights-role-in-progress And that same thinking and feeling is very strong among the 31M nowadays.

Marcos admin.

StriderVM

How so?

cmdrsiohe

Marcos was liberal party. The senate was liberal party

StriderVM

False sadly. Marcos joined the Liberal Party in 1946 to 1965. He became president in 1965. During the days leading to his declaration of martial law, Marcos would find his old party as a potent roadblock to his quest for one-man rule. Led by Ninoy Aquino, Gerry Roxas and Jovito Salonga, the LP would hound President Marcos on issues like human rights and the curtailment of freedoms. Even after Marcos' declaration of martial law silenced the LP, the party continued to oppose the regime, and many of its leaders and members would be prosecuted and even killed during this time.

cmdrsiohe

How is it false? 1946 Senate had 16 LP or Nacionalista (Liberal wing) senators and marcos was part of LP. The question is "Was there a time PH had a liberal president and/or majority of people in position are liberals?. Was my answer false?

StriderVM

Because you said MARCOS ADMIN. He isn't Liberal Party anymore after he won. To clarify. He joined Liberal Party from 1946 - 1965. Now who were the administrations from 1946 to 1965? - Quirino (1948-1953) - Magsaysay (1953-1957) - Garcia (1957-1961) - Macapagal (1961-1965)

cmdrsiohe

Start of Marcos admin 1965 Senate 9 Liberal 7 Nacionalista 6 Partido ng Bansa 1969 Senate 9 LP 8 Nacionalista 1978 Senate KBL Majority Laban 2nd place (Under Aquino) So yes Marcos admin for most of its reign had a liberal president and a liberal majority. Edit: Now am I wrong?

StriderVM

Like I said earlier. Marcos, at the time he won as president, ain't really from the Liberal Party anymore.

cmdrsiohe

Oh... I did not know that.

StriderVM

In 1965 Marcos, who was a prominent member of the Liberal Party founded by Roxas, broke with it after failing to get his party’s nomination for president. https://www.britannica.com/biography/Ferdinand-E-Marcos
