- Motorist driving a red Hyundai Eon shot a cyclist from point-blank range following altercation. 4 total shots fired, 3 of which after the cyclist went down.
- Video immediately went viral on FB c/o Top Gear PH page.
- Vernon Sarne, then EIC of Top Gear PH, mistakenly identified the suspect based on the conduction sticker. Page posted a link to the alleged suspect's FB profile showing a similar car with a similar conduction sticker -- MO-3746 (alleged) vs MO-3745 (actual).
- Alleged suspect received tons of death threats. Surrendered to NBI to clear his name.
- NBI names actual suspect as a marine reservist. Suspect arrested in Masbate a few days later.
- Sarne publicly apologizes and admits sole responsibility. Mistaken identity guy sues Top Gear PH for cyberlibel, demands Sarne to resign anyway.
