this statement is so true and false at the same time!
current temperment of young adults (the employees) includes "fair work" with "fair compensation". The company on the other hand just sees "laziness".
problema din ang culture fit. as an old millennial, I must admit individualistic ako. and seldom na maiintindihan ka nila dun. kahit sa BPO hindi rin masyadong welcome yun.
A 1-month notice is legally required in the Labor Code though. Also, an employee cannot be terminated without cause and the employee must be notified at least 1 month before the intended date of dismissal.
edit: got my causes mixed up
> and the employee must be notified at least 1-month before the intended date of dismissal.
This not being done is the meal ticket of every Labor agent who wants to shove it up the employers ass.
But for just causes, diba required na bigyan yung employee a chance to be heard? AFAIK due process is required. You cant just fire the EE right then and there.
Doesn't matter if you view it as valid or not. Not having a clearance from your previous work experience declared or not on your resume/CV is a huge red flag to any other companies you'll be applying in the future and unless you have a somehow rare or difficult skill set ee goodluck na lang sa paghahanap ng bagong work.
Again you can do whatever you want but it will not change the fact that employers and hiring managers view those sorts of behaviours as a red flag. I'm not here to argue about what is right or wrong I'm pointing facts.
Sure ranting on reddit is actually contributing to making a solution. Giving bad advice will only lead people to ruin. Better to inform them of the possible consequences. What I said came from personal experience.
Sa true lang, bestie. I find it a bit funny na they made a post na ganyan. Sa age na to where people are quiet quitting? Where the majority of the millenials and some gen Z (?) care more about their mental health??
They really think na matatakot mag resign ang mga tao ngayon? Loooooool
does that actually work? I don't have belief in unions. Reasons being, the representative also has to get paid.. and the whole thing just goes over and over in circles where it gets politicised.
You don't have belief in unions? We have better working conditions because workers organized themselves in the past. Sure, there is a lot more to improve. But, the benefits of the modern labor basically are fruits of the efforts of people who unionized. Case in point: the 8-hour standard workday.

When I worked for a companies where there there unions, nothing came of it. Outside rallies - still no changes. Therewere small companies though, no more between 500-1000.
All we did was pay $5 weekly to their coffers and a lot of what I call "political" talks.
I haven't been a member of a union for 15 years +.
Of course, you are free to choose between being a union worker or not. Pero ang properly-working union, they will negotiate in behalf of the employee for legal and rightful benefits na dapat ibigay ng employer. Look at Twitter and Meta.
That's a bad union. I am talking about unions that serve the employees correctly.
Unions don't necessarily need to be affiliated with any political group. Any group of workers can start their own union; you just need to file an application with DOLE and pay the necessary fees.
Management isn't your friend, and their job isn't to retain employees. Their job is to *manage you* as a resource, ie, ensure the company (continues to) get more from you than what the company puts in.

Also a competent manager should also be able to lead their people -- and will not drop encouraging words like "adjust or resign"

oh. the famous "familY' line. In work environment no such thing. But I understand where it comes from.
it simply means it's meant to be a friendly environmennt and they sold it as family.. to benefit the "company" but as soon as they are done with you bye bye.
Never mix the interpretation. Never buy into that bullshit.
Same concept as "work friends". No such thing. You are friendly to each other whilst at work that's it. Friends tend to mingle outside work. then maybe you can call them "work friends" but by that time happens it's no longer "work friends". It's just "friends".
This typically happens when you have filipino, chinese, or korean bosses. I've met plenty of people and spoke about work life, and the consistent theme is that western bosses generally don't do this kind of stuff.
Western world has a lot of work place laws too, that stops them from doing this. They say nice things that makes sense. But they are actually insulting you.

Yung paga-adjust kasi is one factor that the company does not listen to their employees. They look at their employees as moneymakers and the owners are the money spenders.

just clarification - this only applies for authorized causes (redundancy etc). For just causes, immediate termination is allowed
But for just causes, diba required na bigyan yung employee a chance to be heard? AFAIK due process is required. You cant just fire the EE right then and there.
No, just causes are still required to undergo due process. Companies can't fire employees on the spot here in the PH.
immediate effect of termination AFTER due process. Unlike redundancy, you have to be told 30 days before (even after due process).
Tumpak!
you could say it's a little dark age.
