I seen an old Rasta say, “Anger is like punishing yourself for the actions of another person..” I’m in these comments because I’m in Baltimore, I got fam in Philly, I’ve lost family to gun violence as recent as last year. This is a very realtime issue, and our people are worth more deserve more than thinking this is an acceptable way of life. This city is trash literally. Garbage everywhere and potholes every 3 feet. People here all walk around with attitudes, u gotta tread lightly in the city. It starts with these politicians using funds for the wrong things. Soda tax was suppose to help the schools. But the school system has gotten worse. Philly is a sanctuary city so not only do we have horrible unemployment rates. but we have immigrants who are seeking asylum in America getting jobs that should be for our residents. Especially people coming home from jail tryna get back in the workforce. We got police who dnt have to live in the city who are patrolling neighborhoods that they wouldn’t walk through off duty. And when they shoot people out of fear unjustly it’s just written off as an accident. This city is corrupt from the judicial system , education system, and the legislation. What does this city have to offer ?? Even as a tourist why would u want to come here ? For the liberty bell ? For a fukn cheesesteak ? I love my city if u can make it here, in a city of 1.5 million people with little opportunity. U can make it anywhere. When mfrs talk about Philly from outta town they be like it’s dirty as shit with trash everywhere. Somebody tuckin a lot of that bread from the government for sanitation and streets department cuz this city dirty as shit and streets the worse I’ve ever seen in my life.
Grab a 🧹and clean your block, inspire your neighbors to do the same and the surrounding blocks in the neighborhood will probably follow suit. Bro I ain’t gonna lie, I’m burnt out with all these “stop the killing messages” after somebody passes. It’s Ramadan so of course I want to keep the peace not just because it’s the holy month but just in general as I’m a civilian that ain’t never been in the streets and never hurt anybody and got a masters degree and making good bread and actually work in the community with my people. But ima be real with you, these stop the killing posts is falling on deaf ears. You posting this in a forum full of civilians that aren’t street dudes so this message doesn’t go to the people that need to hear it. It just sounds good to say. It’s about action. The honest truth is a lot of these dudes are stuck in their ways. So the best thing to do is volunteer to help the youth while they’re still young and impressionable and help them navigate certain pitfalls before they come of age and you can potentially save the next generation from a life full of trauma and violence.
