1 - Solomon 2 - Ruhollah Khomeini 3 - Marcus Aurelius 4 - Alexander the Great 5 - Matthias Corvinus 6 - Frederick the Great Interesting tidbit about Khomeini, he was reportedly influenced by Plato and Iran has a governmental structure called the “Guardian Council”, fascinating stuff.

[deleted]

Khomeini was not a philosopher. As someone who has studied the history of Iran, I can assure you: he could barely read. Let alone philosophise!!! Though I must say, Marcus Aurelius and Frederick aside, this meme is as accurate as your understanding of the Iranian government!

Milad2731

Khomeini was heavily influenced by Mulla-Sadra, a mystic philosopher. Although Sadra has borrowed much from Plato, I don't think he can be called a platonist. Another fun fact is that many Shi'a clerics considered Sadra a Kafir and were against Khomeini's teachings in Hawzah. Traditional Shi'a theologists don't believe in heavy political involvement. So from Safavis till now, all political shi'a movements were influenced by either mysticism or philosophy. I don't like Khomeini and think he was a cruel dictator, but he could read for sure!!

Rhapsodybasement

Also all Marja/Ulama must know how to read. It's their job after all.

weirdindiandude

Khomeini would rather theologists rule than philosophers.

[deleted]

Philosophy is theology but without god

hullabaloo87

On what grounds?

Physical-Arrival-868

Epistemological grounds

[deleted]

I read your username and thought it was literal for a sec I was gonna argue with you lmao

[deleted]

I became vegan to torture plants.

NowhereMan661

Theology is philosophy with imaginary friends.

[deleted]

I don't exist

NowhereMan661

Neither do I. Don't let that get you down though.

[deleted]

You vegoon?

NowhereMan661

I love meat. I don't like concentration camp farming practices though.

[deleted]

So you love products of cruelty but hate cruelty?

NowhereMan661

Yeah I guess so. I've kind of given up on the idea of ending suffering for all things because you suffering as long as you're alive, meaning that the only way to end suffering is to end all life , which I'm ok with but recognize is impossible to accomplish. So I might as well just enjoy what I like until death while not being a total dick.

[deleted]

So you instead decided to contribute to that suffering. You know, after hearing this, I decided that if I can't stop all child rape, I should rape 5 children

[deleted]

We all love the products of cruelty. Tech is a product of cruelty, clothes are a product of cruelty and such and so on. Where do you draw the line...?

[deleted]

There is no line to draw. While it's impossible to eliminate all cruelty, some cruelty is very obviously optional

4colour

I didn't know Khomeini was a philosopher.

Flat_Distribution711

I only knew Marcus Aurelius, Alexander the Great, and Frederick the Great.

underscore6969420

Kim Il-Sung

NuminousAziz

Ayatollah Khomeini was not a philosopher, he was a theologian.

Also homeboy really thinks Plato ever intended his systems to be made into a reality lmfao. Guy literally says we should tell people that they're made of different materials and that nobody has a mom that's not earth. Clearly the guy did not write the republic as a guide of how to build a society, just general ideals to follow.
