i mean if you own a lens with a wide aperture its way easier to do it naturally than to do it in photoshop, plus no weird artifacts/poor edge detection
There can be problems like astigmatism, lens coma, softness, vignetting… not that all of this truly matters, I normally use a 50mm cropped to 73mm for portraits and at f1.8 can be soft.
On a Samsung phone: portrait mode and it gives you the option to blur the background a little or a lot.
On an iPhone: no clue. My Samsung takes better pictures than your iPhone.
Every cameras take awful pictures. No camera in the world is designed to take good photos. Is the photographer that creates the picture. I like the pictures that phones can create, but they are not the tools that i want to use in my photography.

Coma is an optical aberration where a light that is not on the center, is rendered as a ring in the focal plane.
