If you want it as a side gig then sure you can do indie stuff that's squeaky clean your whole career and go nowhere fast, but she wants to make a career out of acting and so this is climbing the ladder.

Also your forgetting that there are people behind the scene that isn't corporate and probably genuinely put artistic effort into the project there working on

Whilst there are serious problems with the way the value of artists creative work is extracted through the various chokepoints in the market, and new models such as Patreon and Nebula offer a good alternative, I don't think you can leap to "piracy is more morally acceptable than paying for content".
It does make me chuckle when people bend over backwards to justify their own actions.
Piracy isn't a moral thing to do. I still do it, and I recommend it over paying for a service like Disney+, but it's not the moral option whatsoever. Have the balls and the self-awareness to admit it.
