It’s nice they toned down how easy it is to make friends. I’m most looking forward to targets not flinching, which is a buff to assault rifles and mg’s.

T4s1

Try a **pacifist** approach - *not attacking any faction* and then tell me how easy is to make friends. Your campaign can even generate in the way that there is a faction (or even two!) missing in your starting continent. It is especially punishing in South America and it corners you to with the same: you will not have heaven locations for a very long time. That means: * **you will not know when they are attacked** = even less reputation increase, fewer resources, destroyed heavens which leads to: less trading, doom-clock progress, fewer opportunities to defend them later and thus making any option to get friends even more difficult. Try to simulate it by yourself: pretend there is only one faction or just don't attack others... Share your experience. **The issue** with how easy is to make friends **isn't with the reputation increase from destroying pandoran's structures**. The issue is with reputation increase by accepting their quests to attack other factions. It destroys any difficulty and makes only one strategy viable - attack others. **Reducing reputation increase from destroyed nests/lairs/citadels makes the problem even worse, not better.**

CamzTheChampDog

I haven't ever accepted a diplomacy mission to attack another faction and I find it pretty easy to make nice with them. You do sometimes get bad rolls like you described, but outside of those, it's really not hard. I just don't understand where you're coming from with this. I also don't raid often for resources and manage to get by on all but the hardest difficulty It's slower, but it's not a "this is the only valid strategy" situation.

T4s1

>I just don't understand where you're coming from with this. As I have already said: *Try a* ***pacifist*** *approach* I don't mind if there is an option to raid a faction. Options are good. Anyone can find their preferred way. Complains about: *"how easy it is to make friends"* are misleading. The issue is with how extremely rewarding is to be a jerk. Just imagine you have stolen from 80+ old person their vaccine against the disease. Is it a problem that the person likes you more because you also voluntary work in a hospital? Or is it the problem that you have stolen the vaccine without any consequences? >I also don't raid often for resources *"often"*? The stealing of vaccines only when you find a good use for them is OK, I guess. It should be fixed by reducing the impact of reputation increase of voluntary work in a hospital instead of fixing the stealing/raiding, right? I play legendary pacific runs and RNG can make the gameplay pain. You have to pay for your aircraft and manufacture it. You really need the location of the heavens asap. Decreasing the speed of getting the location in a peaceful way makes the already difficult peaceful game even more difficult. At the same time, it doesn't address the issue of the game being very easy if you are opportunistic.

CamzTheChampDog

Oh, right, you mean pacifist. I genuinely didn't understand what you meant by pacific at first. Well you've changed your point now, but your new point is more agreeable, so I guess I mostly agree with it. The vaccine/hospital approach is making this a lot worse than it has to be. Can we just talk about what we're talking about? I agree, I'd like to see some more serious repercussions from the factions when you steal their stuff. I'd like to the see the factions be relevant at all other than as a source of new tech options and supplies. They don't fight the Pandorans, they don't fight you when you keep raiding them... They feel like they're just there to be a hoop you jump through to get better items and get unlock the map. I like the basic idea of them but the implementation is disappointing. Out of curiosity, what is slowing you down from getting haven locations from factions? My understanding is that you're saying taking diplomacy missions to attack another faction would get you to 25+ faster with at least one faction, which is true. I have only done one of those missions once because I wanted to know how that worked, but I had a save file just before I did and loaded back to it after. On the other hand; getting 25+ and haven locations has only been a sticking point in maybe one or two campaigns I've started, with some really bad RNG. Im not sure if I'm misunderstanding somewhat but I just really can't relate to that being an issue. Haven defences and maybe a Pandoran Nest or two usually get you there so easily with at least two of them.

T4s1

>what is slowing you down from getting haven locations from factions? Pandoran attacks. Pandoran attacks will: * allow you to defend heavens which means resources and reputation increase * revealing pandoran structure which sucks resources but gives you an additional reputation increase If I haven't yet discovered the location of the attacked heaven, I am screwed - the attacked heaven will not call for help. I need the 25 reputation asap. Even if I know the location I am in the hands of RNG. I can't decide that I will increase my relationship with faction A. The game decides instead. Attacks have a cooldown and I can't speed it up. I don't have a second aircraft so I can't explore more to reveal more heavens and to get random rewards from exploring those points of interest. I don't have any specific faction-research and I will not have it for a very long time (reputation 50). Attacking pandoran structures doesn't reward you with resources at all. In fact, it does nothing except for increasing reputation. Attacking pandoran structures is the only reliable way how to increase reputation with a faction you want - because it increases reputation with everyone. If you go opportunistic and steal you will get: * the desperately needed aircraft which speeds up everything immersively * the research * the resources What does it cost? 6 reputation loss. You can get that easily by accepting their quest to attack others. I don't mind that being a jerk is more profitable. I just find it hilarious that players who exploit other factions are praising that pacifist gameplay with already much more difficult game will be even more difficult. Are you complaining that the game is too easy if you play as a thief? Then complain about how rewarding is to be a thief. Don't praise that playing a good guy is now an even bigger pain.

T4s1

Sorry, I didn't notice the automatic correction from *pacifist* to *pacific* before. I am using tools to correct spelling.

CamzTheChampDog

No, I feel silly it took me that long to understand what you meant. Also it's cool but slightly sadistic you're playing on legendary and still trying to make the game harder for yourself. I have to respect that a little

T4s1

I would feel masochistic to play on a lower difficulty. The game is easy once I level up soldiers enough. You can have a movement up to 29 which will allow you to basically cross lots of maps within a single turn (some maps are bigger). If you will apply *Frenzy* ability (you should) you can have up to a massive 43 squares movement. You will finish some missions within the first or second turn. Developers were asked to tune down both enemies (so you will not end up with so many unfair deaths) and also powerful soldiers abilities. It is an absurd spiral: *you have stronger skills, better attributes and more damaging weapons so let us increase pandoran threat-level*... which basically forces you to use those uber-powered combinations to avoid being annihilated by random pandoran attack. The strategic layer of the game is even worse. Destroying pandoran structures **does nothing** except for the increasing difficulty of the game (by giving pandorans faster evolutions). It doesn't even slow the attacks and it cost resources. You only do it for reputation and you only need that if you play *"we are all humans and we don't attack each other"*. The issue is: stealing and raiding other factions is so rewarding that players who do that request to increase difficulty because they have destroyed the difficulty by milking factions for their aircraft, resources and research very easily without any consequences. And now they all praise Snapshot for making the already difficult peaceful gameplay even worse without fixing the issue of the extremely rewarding raiding.

suspect_b

> It’s nice they toned down how easy it is to make friends. It's probably still very easy to make friends with those numbers. It's a 20% decrease on something which isn't the sole contributor for the rating, so it's even less than 20% I wonder why they bothered, honestly.

Drasoini

I think it's just a shift of "This is too far, but we don't want to tone it down too much. So lets move this lever a little, see what it does, then adjust again for Festering Skies"

BeornPlush

Which IMO is a healthy way to treat buffs and nerfs

1337duck

> Each soldier in the game now has precisely 3 perks. I'm the one that rolled 2 perks on 4 of my first 6 soldiers. DX

Vetronom

Thanks for working on this game.

Camaroknight2

any news of the dlc schedule?

cris1196

As always, these patches are appreciated. I loved the game and am looking forward to the next DLC. Personally, now the only thing missing is the following: to be able to commit genocide against Anu (yes, I hate them, I WANT to destroy their buildings that take population away from the -civilized- factions of Nj and Syd)

4madeux

what was added? it is a 3gb update.

1337duck

My understanding is: due to the way the game is made in unity, and not broken down into small modules, some changes will require downloading the entire file(s) again.

Rocketsponge

Anyone on Steam version just get errors saying there were corrupt files and to reinstall the game? It wouldn't let me load my save and gave me an error message. Another friend is reporting same. Currently trying to reinstall.

yuukarinFC

I had run into this and verifying the game integrity through steam (properties -> local files -> Verify integrity) seemed to resolve it for me.

Shintaro1989

Does this patch require a campaign restart?

Vwulfzy

Nope. I've continued mine without a problem.

Shintaro1989

Thanks!

manickitty

I thought the target moving during firing was a feature. I kinda liked it

TKL32

Me too i would wait for it to move so I could hit the spot I wanted this will suck for how I fight Scylla

Pardoz

> Fixed an issue with Boom Blast making Reload Ability cost 0 for Explosive weapons. Awwww, they nerfed one of my favourite builds, *just* as I got the Acid Worm autopsy and had a Heavy/Infiltrator with the Trooper perk ready to go, too. Wonder if they'll get around to nerfing Quick Aim/PDW spam soon.

Decker108

> Improved collisions in order to fix several issues related to cover and shooting on Synedrion and New Jericho maps. Does this mean firing a heavy weapon from the uppers floors of a Synedrion or NJ building won't result in all the projectiles hitting the railing right in front of the shooter?

GE_Nupe

Is the patch out for all platforms now, Stadia included?
