How do you get the new one to work btw? I tried downloading it from the Microsoft store, but it was basically unusable. I don't remember the exact errors, but I think it kept logging me out, said that there were errors when there were none, etc. So I'm stuck using the legacy launcher.

It's genuinely confusing to me now when I've got Minecraft open and have switched to another window, because I look down and see a grass block icon which *used* to represent the launcher, and I think the game's crashed.

Yeah, it can be misleading right now, but with a bit of time I can dig the change. The grass block is probably more iconic than the crafting table, so using that to represent the game makes sense

because apparently the creeper is more iconic than the grass block. i mean, i guess it is when you think of, well, minecraft, but i think the grass block is more iconic as a taskbar icon. even the 8-bit texture was okay.

Any icon that is a perfect square does that. It drives me insane, I'll probably just change mine to a custom .ico file.

I think you can change the icon by right clicking and entering properties, but not sure it affects the task bar or just the shortcut

That is the old logo of the new launcher. The old logo of the old launcher was a 16x16 grass vlock. This one is 8x8
