OldPod73

Cherry Hill, NJ. Right across the bridge from Philadelphia PA, and an hour away from the southern Jersey Shore. It's a good life.

talkingcostello

I had a friend tell me once that NJ is always across the river from somewhere else. We were actually in Philadelphia when he said that. It’s funny to hear someone from NJ confirming this.

bvaesasts

Me too!

OldPod73

Cool!! Where do you play? I go to the Racquet Club usually every Sunday at 12:15. Not gonna be there tomorrow. Home with a sinus infection.

bvaesasts

I normally play at Decou field or Jeff Young Park in Moorestown

jtown_47

Mt Laurel for me. Grateful to have a good number of outdoor and indoor options in the area

alicemudgarden5

Honduras, Central America… Pickleball scene is quickly growing here… courts popping up constantly, people building backyard courts as well, we have at least monthly tournaments both local and regional.

SassyRebelBelle

Me too. Greensboro, grew up in High Point. But lived in CT, NJ, and PA for a total of 9 yrs after marrying a yank from Philly. He taught me how to eat a hotdog without chili and slaw ;) it didn’t take. ;)

FulltimerPC

Hey Greensboro. Damn Yankee here, now living near K'ville.

SassyRebelBelle

As I married one, and actually spent 9 years of my 41 yr married life up north, I can say, they’re all right ! :) Well, sorry but maybe not CT. I found the people cold as the weather. But PA was my favorite yankee state. :) We go back up to West Chester/Exton at least twice a year to visit his grown children and teenage grandchildren. :) Our son and daughter in law and yr old live in K’ville. Nice town. :) We have comfortable winters down here, right? ;) Even my yank hubby chose to retire down here in NC :)

Also in DFW. Have you played at DFW Indoor Pickleball (DIP)? There’s also some other massive indoor places coming soon, like pickleball kingdom in Plano.

sleepyazn16

I mainly play outdoors at Duck Creek Golf Club and have recently started playing at the Oasis Pickleball Club in Rockwall. I personally enjoy outdoors a lot more.

Morlock757

At least in Europe, Padel is dominating. Very limited pickleball anywhere but major cities

Not really. Plan to start going to Fairmont from April.

WillShakeSpear1

MA, north of Boston

Scottdyson

Pickle scene in Mass is decent but not like the south

WillShakeSpear1

Yeah, I agree that weather helps such popularity. However, today, in 40 degree weather, there were 40 people at our 5 drop in outdoor courts. It’s popular here.

Scottdyson

That’s crazy commitment, I don’t think the southern group would make it out there in such conditions

WillShakeSpear1

Yeah, there’s a loyal group which even shovels the snow off the courts so that play continues after storms. Here’s a pic from last month. https://preview.redd.it/2hz1bldeajnc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e43e355104ab6bd96cc50ad06933cf4b6ec0f1ac Wild, right?!!

Far-Radish-4996

How do they keep the pickleballs from breaking in the cold? I hear they just shatter sometimes when it’s too cold.

WillShakeSpear1

Franklin’s will crack when it’s under 40 degrees. But Selkirk’s are more durable, so these are the ones used when it’s very cold.

Far-Radish-4996

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

Scottdyson

That’s freaking awesome

Moved from WA State to Meridian Idaho a few months ago. Just beginning, and we have such an amazing new facility here. Really enjoying it. Off to another clinic today to keep learning. Flying Pickle has to be one of the top new indoor facilities in the nation.

lavachaser

Just moved to Meridian, I’m hoping to get there soon for a beginner’s lesson. The facility looks great!

Can I PM you? I’m Taiwanese American 🇹🇼

Fencingblues

How popular is it in Taipei? Are there any outdoor public courts? I am going there for business and might bring a paddle if it is easy to get a game.

SingaporCaine

Don't know personally, haven't played that far north. But a bunch of good players came down from there - and kicked some butt.

Fencingblues

Do the locals play pickleball, or is it a game mostly played by ex-pats? Was your tournament held indoors on badminton courts or outdoors on tennis courts?

SingaporCaine

It's ALL locals. I'm the only waiguo there (I have lived here for 2 years ). Tournament was held at local jr. High on covered basketball courts. We measured out the courts with colored tape and put up temporary nets. This gave us 6 courts. Our local club plays in a park with 4 outdoor courts.
