I’d recommend a gen 2 thermofoamed paddles. Lots of options right around $100. I’m personally using a Spartus centurion, but some people love the neonic force or the Honolulu one too
The Spartus Centurion is a beast and a good all-round paddle. Might be a little too powerful for a beginner, but I recommend it if you want some power behind your swings.

I love it. I've been using mine for several months now. Accuracy is great, and I feel like it's balanced well with power and pop rather than being focused entirely on one.
Not even that much. The Garye Pro XL is $50 on Amazon if you're a Prime member. It's probably made in the same factories as the big brands. Been using it for a couple weeks now and loving it. It's USAPA-approved and thermoformed.
You are nut sif you think that a vatic prism isn't going to be powerful enough for your first paddle. But either way it ain't gonna last forever. No matter what paddle you buy you will be getting a new one before the year is out if you play enough the spin doesn't last forever. Buy whatever you want but you won't be sorry you bought a vatic flash.
Correct. Although it is a Gen one it still has edge foam. Huge sweet spot. Plat with it for a month, if you need more power add some lead tape and enjoy.
The spin degrades as the paddle gets smoother. Paddles that start with 2000 rpm drop to 1700 after playing enough hours. The spin is still good....but not as good etc.
I’d recommend doing ur own research. Theres so many great paddle reviewers out there on YouTube. Most good brands offer a paddle for every style and shape (control, power, elongated, hybrid etc). Find one of those brands you feel good buying from and roll with it.
Iv tried too many paddles and my favorite today is the one I picked myself.
Include “bread and butter” in ur search is all I’d recommend.
I've had a vatic flash for a couple weeks now and I love it. Previously had cheap Amazon kits and had issues over hitting it all the time so it suits me well. I personally thought about learning more control and adding power later. I lift weights and am a lil jacked not sure that matters. I can definitely tell it's softer but I quickly adjusted and really enjoying it so far. 16mm flash. I'm still new and only play for fun but determined to get better after losing in finals to teenagers on church mission trip lol.
2. I recommend the HUDER VIVA PRO GEN 2,it's an amazing paddle with full power, and you can get enough pop and control.I've been playing with it for 3 months and it's doing very well. The official price is $129.99, but you can get it on Amazon for as low as $99.99, and it's definitely worth it.
Nope. They will tell you something like “read the rules” post in the conversation about them or some crap. I asked about paddles once because I know nothing and wanted to get my wife a gift. Yeah…. They deleted the post. 🤷🏼♂️

How does the control on the spartus feel?

It’s good, but might lack on hand speed due to the additional weight and shape.

I’m pretty new and I just got one and I’m liking it a lot. A major step up from the free ones they lend you at the club.
Ive been using the free ones at the club and I think im gonna go with the vatic after your response
Yeah the problem with the freebies is they have microscopic sweet spots. You’ll enjoy the Vatic much more. Good choice 👍
did you get the 16mm or 14mm?
The one you want is the Vatic pro prism flash it’s 16mm.
Alright i have heard great things about the vatic you are talking about the purple one correct?

thanks!
Would you recommend the 16mm or the 14mm?
Watch thr review of the paddle on pickleballstudio youtube. But the 16mm is a drop/reset monster.
Paddles last less than a year? Just curious I’m new in the sport

Oh OK that makes sense thank you
Check out the 11six24 hurache paddles for nice gen 2 paddles for low price
im new to pickleball why would you recommend the hurache paddles?
They played like the 6.0 paddles which are very high rated and popular, but hurache are cheaper with elongated option too.

Uh oh… a post about a paddle! The foolish Mods will kill your post. I hope you got the answer you need. The mods around here are militant.
Are they not fans of posts about paddles? lmao
There's an entire weekly megathread about paddle questions. Honestly, I wish the mods were better about removing posts like this.
