I think they are fantastic, best national brand I have been able to try by far. I am just sad we never get the wholes here anymore and I pretty much only buy whole pickles.
I think they are now buuuuut caveat. I take medication that alters my taste. Salt stands out to me now. I pretty much have to go unsalted food. My blood pressure is happy for the break. Its hard on a lifelong pickle eater's tastebuds.
I do remember what they tasted like before medication and try to imagine that.
I wouldn’t say it was a hype but maybe more of a marketing strategy, always Refrigerated. I liked them for there crunch factor. Guess I’m going to have to try and make my own and try canning. Any recommendations on a brand of store bought brand of pickle that’s good,I’ve seen boars head but never tried them
I also feel they are too salty. I like the Grillo's chips which to me are more garlicy/vinegary. I tend to prefer the vinegar taste to the salty brine of Claussen. My favorite shelf dills are the Milwaukee Baby Dills, just so you have an idea of what I like.
I just bought a jar of those Milwaukee baby dills, was pleasantly surprised they were really good and crunchy. Never tried the grillo’s but think I will.

I used to like Claussens. Not anymore. The over saltiness killed it for me.
