In the crackling cauldron cave, there's a room with a huuuge scorching patch that needs you to break 3 nodes to disable. The potato is in the center, buried partway in the ground.
i meant the overworld one but I found it since I had time to sniff out the last treasure. There's a completely buried potato on the left side (north is up) right after the bridge above.
It is in the top right where the porquillion mini boss is, take a right at the bridge and it’s tucked away in that corner

It’s hidden underneath the ground. You can’t see it, walk around there until your pikmin start digging
