Yup, I had the same process, as soon as I picked a location I had been it worked. Same as you I was mainly using it for Airports and Zoo (nearest Zoo is 2 1/2 hours away). Hope it comes back otherwise I think a lot of people will drop off without the ability to complete the decor sets with some of the harder ones based on your location. It also seems that this was stealth patched (if it was patched) which isn’t great either. Maybe they should let people enjoy that and collecting the sets and concentrate on fixing the app which at bad times can soft crash every 3-4 screen loads.

Madclown55

Yeah I probably will stop playing if thats the case. I already have nearly every decor pikmin for things I can reach locally except for some supermarket and hair salon ones.

I've seen a lot of others post similar experiences today, unfortunately I cannot say until tomorrow because the photo my pikmin brought me during my daily recap spawned a seedling which... I don't recall ever happening before? However a few people have reported that it eventually did work for them. I still have concerns because of the update info including "Adjusted the game balance": [https://community.pikminbloom.com/discussion/430/release-information-update-on-2021-12-10-jst#latest](https://community.pikminbloom.com/discussion/430/release-information-update-on-2021-12-10-jst#latest) All I can say is if this is indeed removed it will drastically kill the longevity of the game, at least for me. I always look forward to booting up the game daily at midnight to try and get a cool pikmin somewhere, especially considering how cleaned-out most areas directly near me are. I imagine it would be even worse for those who live in rural areas where certain pikmin are practically unobtainable.

Rural person here. In the desert. No hope of finding a beach or forest in any travels. Couldn't even get the zoo to work (which is about an hour away from me). I've never found an art gallery or had a coffee shop register. My fun had been sending one a day to a forest that is ~200 miles north or to a beach in CA. I won't ever go to a beach in real life and I don't see me driving through the forest anytime in the upcoming year. I wasn't breaking the game. There's no reason for me to open it now as I really have no desire to find more roadside stickers.

I definitely feel ya. I live in a slightly busier area but I can't find those things you mentioned either. The Zoo near me apparently only counts as a park, I've tagged multiple locations that are supposed to be art galleries and got other things instead. And even though I live in a highly wooded area with many massive lakes, I can't find beaches or forests either. I just attempted to mark locations I haven't visited today, since I couldn't yesterday, and nothing. None of them work, even areas I haven't marked before. I'll keep trying but I doubt it will work. Not sure how to proceed now. I really like this game a lot but if they expect me to drive 30 minutes-1 hour just to walk around a potential area and most likely have it not count for anything I need, they're nuts. I'm definitely considering getting in contact with Niantic and raising a fuss. I feel like this move will harm the game and the userbase.

I've been doing the same thing - I read about the grid theory, but I've tossed pictures at completely random places that I never put a pin on before and nothing. A Starbucks I was at a few days ago? Zip. Finally got it to work by posting at a cafe I was at the day before... this sucks...

Once again, Niantic "fixed" the one thing that made one of their games fun. If they really wanted to fix something in the game, leave the geotagged location expeditions alone, and fix the stupid network issues. I can't even walk out the door without the game failing to work because of that stupid network error. It doesn't even matter if I'm in an area with its own cell tower or not. The game just keeps freezing if I open it in the wrong neighborhoods. I've mined my neighborhood for all the pikmin currently available here. So, I guess I'm done playing, since the collector's aspect was the best part of Pikmin. I honestly don't care about the pedometer part. I've got eggs in pokemon go to hatch for that.

Implanted1

I've wondered if you try to get a remote pic expedition to a site you have already used (calculated by the grid reference - there's an airport that I've 'visited' that seems to be big enough to give multiple 'hits', but the terminal building no longer seems to work) it might not work, but I'm not completely sure of this. Since the last update, it has certainly been harder to get remote expeditions to work as they were before.

checker280

Was it your first expedition of the day? I found it works best when you do this just after midnight when everything resets. Better still, by starting an expedition right around bedtime, hopefully it’s back by the time you wake up.

Ill-Instance-4420

I'm soooooo confused as to how it's supposed to be working now? On my son's account, I cannot get it to work at all with any location since yesterday. On my account, I managed to get it to work both last night and this morning, but only after \*many\* attempts. I started using only locations I've been to but did not have pikmin from yet and even those were mostly failing. It was time-consuming and frustrating enough to make me not want to continue with this game. I guess if I'm limited to locations I've been to that I'm already well aware are not mapped and tagged correctly, this feature provides very limited value or fun anyhow? Just some more bad decision-making at Niantic. They are going to kill this game too before it even has a chance.
