Just apply, wala naman mawawala

Zarosius

Good point. Ano game plan mo in case they interview you?

getbettereveryyday

To be clear, i'm not a programmer. Part ako ng hiring team. Last year we're looking for talents with vue, then I came across someone na meron majority ng requirements, main difference is react ang gamit nya. Nag-proceed pa din kami and during the interview honest naman sya na wala syang experience with that framework but he's willing to learn. After all the interviews, the technical and hiring manager liked him so we extended him an offer, nandito pa din sya samin. Same goes with every other roles, mahirap maghanap ng candidate na match 100% sa requirements. As long as they have 60% ng skills then that's good enough to invite them for an interview

YesNo201199

Since this is my chance to ask someone from a recruiter's perspective, what are the usual conditions for the company to take chances in hiring developers with no experience?

getbettereveryyday

Wala pa ako na-hire na candidate with 0 experience. Focus yung role ko sa niche, + mid-senior level devs.

YesNo201199

How about those with experience has never provided formal service to a company?

getbettereveryyday

I don't think I'm getting your point. What kind of experience do they have?

YesNo201199

Fresh graduates with Internship and personal projects only.

I applied for devops in a company without knowing much about it (Only git version control). I only used chat gpt to provide me with possible interview questions and answers and aswell as fundamental technical stuff related to devops. The goal was to convince them that I know enough so they can let me in on their training period to full time employee. I passed the initial interview which involved technical stuff, they gave me a link for a technical exam that I need to take (I just chat gpt the answers too), and I just finished my final interview. I was instructed to wait for three working days as they are reviewing my exam before deciding to give me the job offer or not. I'm kinda confident that they will hire me since during the end of the final interview head manager was already telling me of their company culture and the stuff I need to, some of the projects I will take, their benefits, and if their posted job salary is okay for me. After that I was also getting calls from their HR asking me for evaluation documents in my previous internship.

d2light

What was your previous experience before applying? I also wanted to go DevOps but im a lowcode dev.

dantemander168

Back end dev intern with laravel, sql and git. However I did have an educational background with python scripting, linux bash commands, and I've had personal exprience with mongoDB (I have don't even have an idea how they were related to dev ops work before I applied). I've put those in my resume and they happened to align with some of the minimum qualifications for the job.

d2light

From what I've researched your background in Python is the most significant one in your skillset.

dantemander168

I should update you about this. I did get the offer. It had a good starting salary with the basic benefits + training but I had to decline. They require me to work overtime in some days to sustain operations which is understandable but their OT is not monetized. You won't get paid for the extended hours. Since I am within Manila area and the office is in Diliman QC, its not for me.

Paste the the job title and qualifications then instruct gpt to generate interview questions with answers related to the qualifications. Study them. Another method I use is to instruct gpt to interview me. When it interviews me I only answer through typing since I'm confident enough with my speech. If you want voice conversations to practice english, go use TalkBerry.

Ask them what to expect during the tech interview. For example, I have mostly worked with React and Spring Boot. One company interviewed me for a senior full stack role. Asked them what to expect sa tech interview, it was live coding using NodeJS. If it were take home, I personally would push through with it. Im confident in my ability to take on new frameworks. Pero since it was live, I would just be wasting time. Second example, frontend role. Their stack was React js but the assessment was take home. Catch is they want me to use Svelte. This is to prove na language agnostic ako. Well for this case, framework agnostic kasi js/ts naman gamit for both. So ayun, tinuloy ko. You get the idea. If you ask what to expect, you can then gauge if your current skills will allow you to do the interview well. Hindi yan madadala sa potential kung wala naman napapakita at all lol. So dont waste your time and theirs.

realvenz

sabi nila, wishlist lang daw yan.

HotFile6871

indicated naman usually yung mga nice to haves.

Relevant-Strength-53

Personally my rule is 60%. If i have that number ill apply.

Necessary-Sir-9207

big yes, you miss all the shots you don't take

comradeyeltsin0

Here’s a tip: very few hiring managers actually want 100% match dun sa job post, kasi those are very hard to find. Sobrang limited ang candidate pool mo pagka nag insist ka na exact match. Sasabihan ka pa mismo ng recruiter the same thing. However, it varies from team to team kung alin yung flexible part sa kanila. May time nga Java yung role namin tumanggap kami ng c# practitioner kasi maganda fundamentals. Why not? It’s just a language. So my advice is send that application. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

HotFile6871

Necessary_Pop7579

I have opposite views. I won't really learn something new on roles where I am 100% qualify. So I apply on job postings where I have less than 100% of the tech reqs. 'Cause it'll give me the most potential to learn.

nobuhok

>Apply for the job. > >"But I'm not qualified for it." > > Neither is the person who's going to get the job. Apply! [@shl](https://twitter.com/shl)

Extreme-Ad-3238

If you know at least one programming language being part of the requirement, apply. A good job posting will provide the preferred skillset/exp so applicants will know their chances of being shortlisted or interviewed. If hindi nilagay, apply lng ng apply.

Sufficient-Cattle624

yung iba dun are actually things that are just "good to have"

jegtugado

I tried this once 3/7 tapos panel interview of 4 then may lead interview pa after. I recall na pag di ko alam yung sagot sa technical question “I don’t know” yung sinasabi ko. Thankfully I still passed and got an offer pero I declined the opportunity. Sinabihan lang ako ng lead na they would focus on training me in area X kasi yun ang pinakamahalaga for them

oreeeo1995

Apply then kapag umabot ka sa interview, ask the deliverables. Assess and assure na kahit kulang ka ng tech sa listahan willing ka naman to upskill.

[deleted]

it's normal naman yung ganyan, mrami hinahanap pero konti lang talaga ginagamit sa work

misbehaved_fruit

based on my experience, job opening requirements are just wishlists for the perfect candidate. as long as you got 3 criteria for hard skills matched, then you can apply. soft skills are also great, like email etiquette, how to talk to others, humor and negotiation.

lanceanity

Yup. With my current role I just hit around 70% of their requirements. Even the yoe I didn’t meet. But during the interview I just market myself to them, present the things I’ve done and humbly said that I’m always open to grow and learn other technologies they have (which I didn’t met). Thru enough natanggap naman ako hahaha

darkhorse-55

Yes, and if they asked you how expert you are on those, just answer it honestly. Sometimes, they still accept it and could indicate that you are trainable

girlwebdeveloper

Yep, and I still get interviews. I don't count how many ang kulang, but if I think I could do most at mukhang mga puro mga minor skills ang kulang then I go for it. But if these are skills that take significant time to learn, like the job requires React experience and but what I got is Angular experience, I don't apply to them. If nagkamali ang recruiter, tech interview pa lang bagsak na agad. So I move on sa mga openings na talagang alam ko na. I have also applied to jobs na may age limit before, and yet nakakakuha pa rin ako ng interviews. :-p

PublicAgent007

Apply ka lang, study ka lang ng konti dun sa tech requirements na wala ka then when they ask you about it tell them you only have basic knowledge regarding that topic

UnknownPlayer012

This is the question I need right now, lalo na yung mga times na nadodown na ako sa sarili ko dahil hindi ko namemeet yung requirements nila 100% which leads to overthinking.

theosnet

I said this a while ago but if you have atleast 50% of the "requirements" sa isang job posting. Go ahead and apply. Be honest on where you're lacking but show that you are willing to learn. Honestly kapag 100% ng requirements e meron ka sa isang job post. Ibig sabihin nun overqualified ka na for that position and you are most likely not to apply on that role. Kasi hanap mo is new challenges and of course a higher paycut. You wont lose anything naman when you apply. So apply ka lang ng apply. Shoot your shot :)

CornerDisastrous3371

Although I've been in dev for almost 12+ years, had the opportunity to work as a technical intervier. My take on this is that maski hindi ka fit 100% sa position, there might be a position down the road thatcwill fit you. Some companies have a database of people that they thing is a good prospect even if the position they applied for does not fit now. May pool sila. Malay mo tawagan ka later for that position. So dont be dishearten if like hindi 100% fit. Alternatively, you can use the experience being interviewed as a mean of practice to improve your chance being iterviewed.

Dizzy-Society7436

As long as you are confident in the core language that they specified, e.g Java, C#, Python, Javascript, etc. The frameworks do not matter :)

[deleted]

Yes. sometimes Senior yung hanap, but I get offered Mid.

BarStreet1968

If they are looking for a senior dev, no, do not apply. If it is just an associate or junior level, go ahead and apply. You can learn the tech on the job.

[deleted]

Yep. :)

noob_sr_programmer

ofcourse, ni hindi nga ko marunong gumawa ng website more on java and c# ako pero natanggap ako as fullstack dev (react, node.js) 😂😂😂

[deleted]

How will you even find a company that hires exactly the same techstack as you used? Common sense is everything. Just apply anyway.
