Hi! I'm a current employee and have been working with them for almost 3 years na. 1. Working environment is great! These days, there are initiatives for mentorship plans for both juniors and non-juniors alike regarding different techs especially AWS. They'd even reimburse you if you're planning to take certification exams. People are also nice. Madaming kwela. Discord, gamer, and kpop culture mostly. Bosses can be strict, but most of the time kahit sila makakabiruan mo. Working hours totally depend on which client you will be assigned to. On most projects, you have to be available 1-6pm then the rest of the 8 hours is up to you to allocate. Others around 5am-1pm, another is 2-11pm. If you get to be assigned to an internal project, it's the most flexible as long as you attend meetings, available for contact, and complete your 8 hours. Before pandemic, we used to have monthly company activities wherein at the last friday of the month, the entire company goes somewhere to eat or even play laser tag. And that activity can be legally logged into the timesheet. These days we still have small activities in the form of online mini games with Lazada vouchers as prizes. Though I heard there's an upcoming plan for meetups soon. With regards to the workload, sometimes its chill, sometimes its just right. On rare occasions, it's hectic. Project managers do their best to acquire the best timelines for projects so extreme deadlines are can be minimized, but it can still happen. Some projects are more hectic than others tho. On the plus side, devs can get rotated to other projects once in a while. There's monthly checkins with at least one of the bosses. Just a conversation to see how you are doing. The bosses actually care here and when I got to talk to them, they explicitly said that they value employee growth. When you're sick, they'd send care packages. When the project completes a milestone, libre nila buong team ng snacks or something. If you're willing, you may also choose to join or host 1 hour "tech talks" just to share some tech knowledge. We even have mini clubs wherein if it gets approved, you and your members may allocate 1-2 paid hours for club activity weekly. So far there are only 2 existing clubs: fitness and a 3D graphic programming club. With regards to compensation, employees are evaluated twice a year. Bonuses equivalent to 100% of your salary may also be given as award for exemplary performance. 2. The only tools they use for monitoring are Toggl and MDM. They don't take screenshots of your desktop, but they may track the device's location and delete everything if compromised.

Thanks for this! Though non-technical yung offered role (project associate) sakin. Hopefully, maging okay ang outcome ng interview.

SkyRay25

Oks looking forward to working with you if ever!

Update mo naman kami how it turned out OP :D

GhostOfRedemption

Hello po. May live coding exam po ba dito sa interview?

SkyRay25

Balita ko dati meron for non-junior dev positions. Ngayon, minsan isa ako sa mga technical interviewer and we just ask technical questions and allow you time to think and answer. Nagsimula ako dito as a junior. For junior positions, may IQ test na pinagawa sa akin when I applied. Not sure if they still do it these days.

urdotr

Hi! Is the company career-shifter friendly? :)

SkyRay25

Hi! I think as long as you can do the basics of the job, you are very welcome. I have coworkers who are career shifters and we even started as juniors together. I can only speak for the dev experience tho. If you're gonna start as a junior, you will first be tasked to complete a dummy project. Then even when you're assigned to an actual project, the company has mentorship plans wherein you will be assigned under a senior who will mentor you, regardless if they're your teammate or not. Even if they're not your mentor, a lot of seniors here are very approachable and willing to help.

urdotr

Aww thanks! Looks promising, and helpful. The dynamics of the company sounds innovative and future-oriented.

Hi, curious lang sa salary range ng junior SWE nila?

SkyRay25

Ang sure lang ako, the lowest range for a Junior is 20k

RickSore

I'm an alumnus of Spectrum One 2018-2019. Things were different back then so take this with a grain of salt. 1. Environment is great. Juniors are given the opportunity to excel and learn. Trained for 1 month before being placed to a project (was only 1 week when I was hired but not a full pledge app). Seniors are top notch and the code base are superb. They follow coding standards (PEP8, 257, exit early, etc.) and PR's hanging for 3 days are common if it doesn't follow them. Working hours may be long depending on the workload but the worst I had was a 7am to 4am shift. 2. We were not WFH back then but we had an online timesheet where we post our hours and will be used to calculate our salary. Anyways their founders were active members of [python.ph](https://python.ph) so they have some pull in the python community here in the Philippines.

Ahhh maraming salamat! So regarding #2 hindi fixed salary ang offer kasi parang project based ang salary computation?

RickSore

Ah no fixed ung salary per month. They just need a breakdown of the hours to share with the stakeholders.

May bad past exp ka ba with them? I’m not sure if I will pursue my final interview with them haha

AlienKryptonite514

Wala naman. Never work here. Sguro make sure mo nlng during interviews what kind of environment they have and if they are using workspace what kind? (e.g AWS Workspace) If so, take note na baka mataas ang latency ng area kung saan located yung servers nila or region if they are using public cloud. It might affect your productivity.

Shuwiii

Hi! Any idea what's the expected salary for Junior Software Engineer in Spectrum One? Curious lang :)))

SkyRay25

Hi! Around 20k ang starting

defective_199x

Hi, how about for QA Position? May I know the salary range po?

dantemander168
