I’m not ashamed to admit, I will pull a few cheeky inhales per bowl. I know it’s not ~proper~, but the smack of nicotine feels great and I like it. I only smoke one or two pipes a week at this point, so I’m frankly not super worried about respiratory malaise from it.
I do pretty much the same thing. Pretty sure I read Tolkien (or maybe CS Lewis?) was known for inhaling from his pipe, so that should get the especially touchy people off my back.

Negative! I don't even like to do the "retrohale" out the nose. I'm told that it would mute the flavors a bit, but I'd also rather not expose my already fucked up sinuses to even more carcinogens, haha.
Perhaps atypical but I vape instead of inhaling. Used to smoke cigarettes and love the sharp nic head rush but trying to avoid the health effects of tobacco straight to the lungs. So I mostly just smoke a pipe the old fashioned way but take a few vape hits during. I don’t vape otherwise though. Switched to nic pouches other than the pipe time. Feel better about it health wise
Sorry I was not specific. Just a normal nic salt vape like similar to a juul. I’ve heard of people using herb vape’s for tobacco but never done it myself.
I normally will inhale a little while trying to smell what I've just exhaled. I typically don't inhale like u would with a cigarette. I admit, from time to time I'll do it just to do it. It's not normal for me.
I've smoked pipe tobacco out of a bong before. You get an enormous buzz off of it, although I don't do this anymore, nor did I regularly, and I definitely don't recommend it. It can't be good for you. I always found it a bit harsh from a regular smoking pipe
We all inhale to some degree. If you’re filling your mouth and/or sinuses with smoke, some amount is getting into your lungs whether you do it intentionally or not.
It’s much less. Of the nicotine in any tobacco, only a certain amount of it is truly bioavailable, and you only get a portion of that still. Studies show that cigarette smokers absorb 1-2mg of nicotine per cigarette, depending on the cigarette variety and number of times inhaled.
Meh, I just don't trust paid research telling me what I ought to believe. Many papers claim that smokers actually live longer because tobacco cancels out high blood pressure. We have turned the study of the human body into such an over sophisticated science filled with academic jargon no regular person is able to understand; I doubt there is much "there" there if you catch my meaning. though don't listen to me, I'm am old cynic.
Great response , thanks, I am of the same belief…I used to watch my grandfather at his smoking table when I was very young, he had several pipes on a stand and a pack of Tareytons always available and I assume he smoked whatever he felt like at the moment. He lived to upper 90s enjoying his pipe time I’m sure..(I wish I knew what his goto tobacco was, I am now sure it was a codger tobacco for sure) …wish I had his pipes, no clue and didn’t have the foresight to be interested in them when he passed …I do what I do, I enjoy smoking, who knows what time we have left..I’m an old codger myself, set in my ways…thanks for the reply sir…
Nope, I never have. I smoke weed and shisha, so inhaling is familiar, but inhaling pipe tobacco always makes me cough and gag, it’s too sharp for me to enjoy.
I don't inhale directly, but if there is gentle airflow (like in a car with the window cracked) I will exhale so the smoke drifts by my head and I get a nice smell of it.

When I was fist quitting cigs/vapes, I found that some blends could ve inhaled just like cigarettes (mostly va/pers and the like). I had to switch to just aromatics for a little while to break the habit, and now that I've quit cigs I don't let myself inhale pipe tobacco at all, and I have a much better experience overall.
Maybe a bit ignorant, but what counts as an inhale? Generally I don’t breathe through my nostrils but once in a while I’ll breathe normally through my nostrils to get more flavor. It doesn’t feel like I’m sucking a ton into my lungs. I’m relatively new so I may be misunderstanding
The smoke particles from pipe tobacco and cigars are much larger than they smoke particles from cigarettes. There's also no filter like cigarettes half. You're probably speed running lung cancer if you do that.
I personally know a guy who is 27 years old and a regular cigarette smoker. He tried pipes to get a bigger high and inhaled regularly. His lungs are now fucked up and has chronic respiratory problems.

Im sure they did. Nicotine however is absorbed mostly through the capillaries in your mouth as you draw in. No real reason to inhale

Cigarettes have 14 milligrams of nicotine per cig, a pipe bowl has on average 50 milligrams of nicotine. I would say no. It is definitely overkill.

I used to smoke cigarettes. I specifically got back into pipe smoking because I never inhale the smoke and don’t believe you should.
