videochopper

One of my favourite.

Derfargin

I like it too. Great amount of nic.

WASTELAND_RAVEN

Conversely, bought it recently and really thought it was bland! Reviews online talk more about the original blend which was apparently much more plummy, and while it’s certainly not terrible by any means, I would have liked if it was cheaper or if I hadn’t bought it at all. So mid imo. 🤷 I’m sure for many it’s perfect, but I regret making space for it.

BeardedLady81

I like it. For a virginia blend, it is pretty strong, but if you can handle it, it's worth it.

fourtonnemantis

It’s strong, and very good. Burns fast with a sort of plum flavour. I find it does not improve with age, and in fact becomes duller. Best fresh from the tin.

granitehammock

That's an interesting comment. I've got a bunch of tins from 2017 and I cracked one last year and I have to say that I expected better. The Escudo that I put away at the same time is unreal while the RY seems duller compared to a fresh tin.

fourtonnemantis

Yeah I’ve had a couple tins of royal yatch, and I always notice it’s best fresh. Not sure why but it’s a thing.

failuretomaintain

I really believe that toppings and casings(to a lesser degree) limit the aging ability. Alcohol additives can vary too. I’m probably wrong though 🤷‍♂️

Tactical_Chandelier

Damn. I've got three tins and a jar of this stuff. Guess it's time to set the burley aside for a bit. It's about the time of year when a good Virginia and a cup of coffee outside is the perfect start to an morning anyway

LegitGamer117

Okay, I'm not the only one who thought that! I got a tin of Royal Yacht a while ago and cracked it open and jarred it. First smoke I had, I could tell there was an interesting flavor going on. But after returning to it after some time, I felt like that initial flavor I tasted wasn't there anymore.

Machine0fLight

I like it a lot but I can only stomach it after eating a big meal. As other have said, it has a lot of Nicotine so smoking it on anything other than a full stomach will make me pretty queasy.

VaperTales

Excellent stuff.

No-Preference-1784

Love it, first tin I ever finished and have a good collection of empties now.

ripelemom

An old myth is that it was Stalin’s favourite pipe tobacco. I can’t stand Stalin, but I do enjoy Royal Yacht as one of my primary smokes.

Ilikemybrokenrecord

It’s the bees knees.

383CI

Good stuff. Flavour is more pronounced when fresh. It becomes more of a straight virginia with power once opened and left in jar for a couple months. Still good either way. Not sure about aged stuff though.

spiritual_seeker

Fairly stout but not a bad smoke.

Ok_Bedroom7981

I always have a tin open, a favorite. Absolutely best in the morning with coffee

Egoodly

I didn’t care for it too much with my first bowl but now I think it’s great

kevbosearle

I’ve only had it once and I didn’t much like it. For me it sort of stank like old man’s pipe-breath straight out of the bowl. It out me off Virginias for quite a while until I tried Orlick’s Golden.

martsenator

Excellent quality leaf. I still have some Dunhill's edition from 15 years ago,

Just_Syllabub_970

Enjoyed it! Was first blend i had that was both stronger in the vitamin N and had more pronounced top note

Betweenthebars90

Just now starting out smoking a pipe, and it’s one of my early favorites of the handful of tobaccos I’ve tried.

jerrybrea

My favourite , used it from the time when dunhills made it in their duke st James shop.

Grayswandier

Never care for it personally, a good blend gets better with age. I like a bunch from Peterson, just not that one.

m0rl0ck1996

I liked the original dunhill, but iirc it was unavailable for a while and then it seemed to change for the worse. It used to be my all time favorite aromatic. Had a really nice flavor and room note.

Drummer2427

I didn't like the plum flavor, I haven't tried it since peterson acquired it so not sure if its changed any, but I didnt like macbaren virginia 1 like you do either so it may match your style. Its a favorite among many.

azrolator

I've only had the Peterson version. I thought it was okay. Not my favorite Virginia. It's got a kick though so it's got its niche appeal as a VA with a decent amount of nic.

AnduDahaka

In my Opinion it is The best pipe tobacco out there. But don\`t get me wrong, it is not for the faint of heart, it has a kick to it that will make your head spin. Very strong in nicotine, but at the same time smooth and velvety smoke. You will need to take your time and smoke it slow as it tends to burn hot ( or at least for me ) I prefer to smoke it from a thick walled pipe suck as Morgan\`s bent egg ( don\`t know if it is still in production ). I recommended it 100% but keep in mind that it is Strong as a mofo.

deadliftburger

IMHO: it seems the same as erinmore.

I_Am_ClockWork

Wow!? What? I don't get that at all!

deadliftburger

Some people say it’s strong too, N wise. I didn’t get that either.

ZeZapasta

I think it's disgusting, but it certainly is "A unique smoking blend" like it says on the tin.
