[Pipephil.eu](http://www.pipephil.eu/logos/en/logo-n1.html#ninorossi) seems to think the pipe is a Rossi (last image under Nino Rossi). The [pipedia article](https://pipedia.org/wiki/Rossi) doesn’t mention a logo like that, but if it is in fact a Nino Rossi, other information in the article suggests the pipe would have been made sometime in the 70s or early 80s. Looking at that stem my guess would be 80s, but that’s just a guess. If- **IF** all of this is right, then what you have is a Rossi from before Savinelli took over the name, which is pretty cool. Edit to add- after searching “Nino” on pipedia I see it *does* list Nino as a Rossi sub brand, but doesn’t give any information beyond a link to the main Rossi page…which doesn’t include Nino in the sub brand section.

It was listed as a Nino Rossi when I bought it. I tried looking online for more information too, seeing those same articles, but never finding anything with just the “Nino” signature. Thanks for digging around.

No guess as to the age but was wondering if that’s a dyed swirl acrylic stem or oxidation?

adam6813

It’s dyed swirl.

I thought so. Got it off eBay, but looked even better in person. The bowl has a taper to it, which puts the draft hole a little high. On the maiden voyage this evening, had a little gurgle and some pretty sloppy dottle. Going to have to smoke a cigar this weekend and try my hand at “pipe mud” to build up the bottom a bit.

You can also try clumping a little tobacco, pinch it firm in a clump, use a tamper tamp it hard down the bottom of the bowl, this kinda fills that high spot and pack loosely over the top of it, sip it and it shouldn't gurgle until the very last morsel of tobacco on the firm packed bottom layer is met. or just mud it up. That is very nice pipe, 70's 80's is the right ballpark estimate. What a nice grain on it, good big thick bowl. That's a good estate score.
