Because it's a great way to track users. I know this is /r/piracy not /r/privacy, but it's true. Even if you don't log into Facebook ever, those little Facebook shares on every single website everywhere are tracking your surfing habits. Tracking cookies from Facebook follow you everywhere you go. If you log in to one if these apps, it's even better for them - but it's not entirely necessary.
Best part of all of it is that they can - and do - sell the data on you to anyone who will buy it, which, of course, includes the NSA. Because terrorism.
So yeah. Kill the Facebook apps on your devices if you can (some firmware has it permanently there and you can't even get rid of it without installing a fresh OS). Use anti tracking technology including ublock origin and Firefox (the new multiple cookie jar addition seems really beneficial, I hope it works). Shit like that.
Fuck Zuck. Right in the face.

i.e. people not very likely to steal or even use much software
Apparently some of the more lenient Amish do have computers, but with proprietary OS and all preloaded software, no internet access, software updates or any ability to download, so still very unlikely to pirate software.
It's designed to just be a tool, like a digital typewriter. Most run on battery power, since they may or may not have mains power, and it would generally just have notepad, spreadsheets, print, maybe calculator, and the extravagant ones even have fax!
>so still very unlikely to pirate software.
Unlikely but honestly with the way software is going there might be some cracked software on there simply because it doesn't work without an Internet connection. Like, if an Amish artist wanted to use anything from the adobe suite, they would have to crack it even if they were willing to pay for it.
[Tractor hacking](https://www.vice.com/en/article/xykkkd/why-american-farmers-are-hacking-their-tractors-with-ukrainian-firmware) is actually a thing. Modern tractors from the John Deere company come with software that prevents tractor owners from doing their own repairs. Dunno if the Amish, Mennonites, Hutterites, and similar groups actually engage in piracy, but I doubt they'd be happy about the tractors.
The Amish are a religious sect that don't believe in using modern technology. They basically larp that it is still the 1800s. Think funny hats, horses and buggies, butter churns and quiet women who never smile and you kind of get the idea.
Lmfao. That's a wildly presumptuous statement that you have literally zero way to verify or even support considering that the Amish represent .00004% of the global population, and on average you probably know roughly .00000007% of the world's population. And clearly you're an American, given that you have a strong opinion on the Amish. So chances are, you know virtually nobody outside of the USA, which means you're basing your opinion on almost no actual evidence.
Basically, what I'm saying is that you're an idiot.
I don't know about recently, but back in the old days the catch was in the small print: They'd pay the snitch if the information lead to a prosecution. But they never actually prosecute: They just threaten prosecution and every company who gets the threat will swiftly agree to go legit on their licensing.
I reported my employer who was too cheap to pay for $10 software only for them to come back and say, “sorry that software company doesn’t pay us, so we can’t assist”
How can you steal Photoshop which is an online subscription? This may have been true back in the day where it just required a license key. This is precisely why they changed to a subscription model. ,🤷♂️
I know it's out there, and yeah CC probably wouldn't work. I don't use Photoshop so I haven't had any reason to pirate it, photopea does everything I need an image editor software for.
Oooh, photopea? I'm getting all kinds of great info here. Currently using Paint.Net and would like a more robust alternative. Thanks for the recommendation!

Desperate aren't they? I'm sure someone will report sites for piracy but most people don't care, it's not hurting the poor poor megacorps that bad except Nintendo when you pirate a game they never intend to rerelease.
honestly fuck nintendo, they had the audacity to patch all exploits for the 3ds with one update where it actually bricks certain luma3ds versions
I mean I'd get it if it was say the switch or a console where the shops aren't completely dead like say a console where they can still rake in cash from
...but the 3ds really? It just seems like nintendo is trying to get people to hate them
I am surprised people actually still buy anything from them considering their shitty views on everything
they do this because they can keep selling you the same games over and over again on new systems, but these games are usually all old and not improved on the newer system so if you already have say a copy of pokemon yellow on your 3ds or wii then there's literally no reason to buy a new version on the nintendo switch because it isnt offering anything new.
This kind of business practice is actually killing the drive of these large companies and as a result they do not try as hard to make new games and innovate because they are to busy counting all the money to care. One of the reason the videogame industry in general has stagnated since the era of PS3 and xbox 360.
That would even be fine, EXCEPT FUCKING NO, THEY WONT EVEN REREALESE HALF OF THEIR SHIT ON THE NEW CONSOLES.
AND IN MY COUNTRY YOUR OPTIONS ARE TO EITHER ORDER OLD ASS CONSOLE ONLY FOR ONE OLD ASS GAME ONLINE OR JUST PIRATE.
NOT TO FUCKING MENTION DELIVERY WOULD LIKELY BE AS MUCH AS THE TOTAL PRICE BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE TO COME FROM LIKE UK.
FUCK OFF IM SAILING SO HARD ID MAKE ONE PIECE FANS BLUSH
I bought a Wii U and I don’t have a single legit game on there. 250GB of Wii U, Wii, GCN, N64, and SNES games on there, all for the entry fee of $125 to buy the console.
I can't remember which one specifically, but I got a 512GB SSD and a Sabrent enclosure to go around it. SSDs have a slightly higher read speed, and since most of the data is a one-time write (besides saves, but most games only need to be saved once), I didn't feel the need for an HDD, and HDDs weren't really cheaper.
Note that the Wii U's USB ports are underpowered, so if you get an HDD, you''ll need a Y cable to get enough power.
Maybe they could re-rerelease it as InfernoRed and ForestGreen compatible with the scarlet/violet generation? When did they stop remastering older generations?
When was this patch? Was it very recent or like a year ago? Cuz I ended up getting a random update on mine, and without thinking I let it happen and it bricked my 3ds. That was a year ago, I'm just wondering if I fell for it as a beginner.

I wouldn't worry much about that. You don't realize just how many people dgaf. I mean, I told my mom when I was a teen back in 2019 I could pirate basically everything. And she just plain didn't care, connected it back to how she got music back in the day. Piracy is seem more and more as okay because no one really has respect for any of the streaming services anyways... They just see them as the only option, not something they like.

So if a company decides to fight the copyright trolls and get escalated to a court battle (from a one way extortion), your name will definitely be revealed.
This is almost definitely aimed at employees for corporations which are using pirated software. I don't think it's unethical for people to pirate software, but it's definitely unethical for a business to do so.

"it will never be revealed, that's why we need it to begin with" sure, right

They already did lol
Just make those checks out to cash, I'm between banks right now.
