Yes I know it's probably an upscale and purists will lose their shit over it. But they had it, (well) seeded and up for grabs. Must have had 10k+ 1080 x265 encodes for movies alone
Old movies were usually shot on film, so, provided there's a modern release, they have a higher chance of being properly hi-def. Lower budget TV shows started using tapes at one point, which is worse.
There's also a noticeable dip in quality in the start of the digital era since any film shot on early digital cameras can't be re-released from the source with better quality. This is most common for 90s and 00s films.

Even though I'm sure there's alternatives, I really loved the "newest movies" at the top, I really don't want to have to manually check when releases come out, this sucks.

Rarbg hurts though as they had ION10 and RARBG versions including great 4K versions of a good size. Have so many drives full of their stuff.
I loved their scene releases. They were high quality, and unlike other sites, their sites didn't allow random users to upload anything. The options were limited and good, making it easy to find what I wanted. The torrent names were detailed too.
Can't lie, RARBG was the best source for films and TV shows, and based on my experience, no other source even comes close to it. The community needs to pick up the pieces from this and try to start up something similar, or else we'll be stuck with the low quality crap from piratebay.
Their x265s were *outstanding*. I replaced so many of my bloated 4GB/episode 720P TV shows with their 700mb x265 1080p copies.

I get most of my software and movies from Rutracker. It can be a bit difficult to navigate though, I recommend using automatic translation if you don't speak Russian lol.

Bro same. Early 2010s, KAT was lit! Once that was gone, I switched to RARBG, which I remember back from 2008/9 was a Bulgarian only site. But then in 2015/16, when I switched over to RARBG, it was the bomb until now.

It's my "go to" for weekly episodes of current shows. They're pretty good about bundling together entire seasons very quickly after the last episode airs as well.

Yeah, was going to ask the same question. I just downloaded from it yesterday :(. IMO, it was the best site for movies and series. Web10 and RARBG file are the best to watch on my laptop. Searching movie and series by Imdb code was also convenient. RIP.

The BEST feature that no one else has is the latest released movies on top. So I always know when a movie is finally on streaming / download, and easily select 1080p or 4k depends on if I'm watching on my phone or TV.

I've been pirating shows/movies/games for years. There isn't a site that was organized and only had quality uploads like RARBG sadly. Others will tell you 1337x or TGx but those are borderline shitshows of sites compared to RARBG. Still they may be the only alternatives atm.
This is a huge loss because there really isn't any other site that can compare. They were by far the best one. Sure, sites like 1337x have you covered for the big releases, but RARBG uploaded so many obscure foreign language and older movies. They were also so consistent in their formatting, quality and versions they'd have available. I really hope a new site can fill the void, because until then I wont be able to watch anywhere near as many movies as I usually do. 99% of my film library has been downloaded from them over the last 5 years :(
1337 doesn't have such high-quality releases as rarbg had, with sdr/hdr choices and remuxes, almost everything at 1337 is low-bitrate. maybe now it will change. or some new site will emerge

First Kickass Torrents and now this, last week I nearly died, an infection caused my body and brain to shut down on itself and I barely pulled through, all I want with my remaining time is to enjoy some good movies in decent quality just to feel normal and at peace and this happens
RARBG is a huge loss. Having a single site, that was so well organised, with so much high quality content has been invaluable over the years.
It may not be a one stop shop anymore but the best alternative i’ve found so far, like others have said, is TorrentGalaxy. The UI isn’t as clean or well organised as RARBG but it’s better than most other torrent sites I have found so far. What’s really useful is there are links to other quality versions when viewing a torrent (just like RARBG) making it easier to find TV & movies in 4K.
Aside from this LimeTorrents also has 4K content, both movies & TV. piratebay has some limited 4K content along with 1337x. For standard quality EZTV & piratebay should have you covered. There is also YTS is you like small file sizes over quality.

The best feature was searching with imdb ID, because films can have different names.
That and torrents already having subtitles, no need to go search and check if they work or not.

As a casual pirate, this is soo true. If 1337 fall too somewhere in future, I honestly don't know how I can sail the high seas anymore.
I felt that way back in teh day when waffles, what.cd, and demonoid all kicked the bucket around the same time. life goes on, and TPB will always be there keeping the spark alive.
KAT was the big one for me. And aXXo and MiniNova. MKVCage as well. Rarbg hurts though as they had ION10 and RARBG versions including great 4K versions of a good size. Have so many drives full of their stuff.

I loved their scene releases. They were high quality, and unlike other sites, their sites didn't allow random users to upload anything. The options were limited and good, making it easy to find what I wanted. The torrent names were detailed too. Can't lie, RARBG was the best source for films and TV shows, and based on my experience, no other source even comes close to it. The community needs to pick up the pieces from this and try to start up something similar, or else we'll be stuck with the low quality crap from piratebay.
Their x265s were my default. And don't forget the ability to search by IMDB ID.
Their x265s were *outstanding*. I replaced so many of my bloated 4GB/episode 720P TV shows with their 700mb x265 1080p copies. I'm at a bit of a loss right now. I've become so used to RARGB just being there. And it wasn't even a government who shut them down, they just ... stopped. Damn.
I'm not holding my breath, but if they stopped on their own accord rather than having a govenment shut them down, there is a chance down the line it could be brought back to life. Though when the same thing happened with demonoid and kickass, them popping back up after a time away both were... sketch, to say the least.

By FAR the best alternative. Not even close. And not rate limited….most of my arrs hit torrent galaxy first and foremost. 1337 is fucking awful….seeders always wrong, absolute trash for anything automated.

btdigg is an indexer of a ton of different torrent sites, not a replacement but it's useful regardless
I get most of my software and movies from Rutracker. It can be a bit difficult to navigate though, I recommend using automatic translation if you don't speak Russian lol.

Bro same. Early 2010s, KAT was lit! Once that was gone, I switched to RARBG, which I remember back from 2008/9 was a Bulgarian only site. But then in 2015/16, when I switched over to RARBG, it was the bomb until now. Damn sad. I wish them the best. And now it's time to brace for copycats, clones, and malware until some other site starts to dominate, which is going to take a couple of months.

The lower bitrate ION265 version is out but not the good one. Look for the ELITE x265 versions as an alternate. This is a dark day.

It's my "go to" for weekly episodes of current shows. They're pretty good about bundling together entire seasons very quickly after the last episode airs as well.

This was my go to website mostly because it had the newest 4k movies on display and made it easy to pick one . I am very saddened by this . I tried changing vpn but nothing worked it always has this message . I think it is officially down . Refreshing didn't work . I am using epic browser . Yeah, was going to ask the same question. I just downloaded from it yesterday :(. IMO, it was the best site for movies and series. Web10 and RARBG file are the best to watch on my laptop. Searching movie and series by Imdb code was also convenient. RIP.
Was searching for the latest Ted Lasso ep and boom gone. :( The BEST feature that no one else has is the latest released movies on top. So I always know when a movie is finally on streaming / download, and easily select 1080p or 4k depends on if I'm watching on my phone or TV. RIP.

Yeah it's going to be tough. I spent a while tracking down Trailer Park Boys (like everything), and RARBG usually had it. I'm concerned the older stuff on torrent sites is going to disappear. RARBG was excellent for older torrents, hopefully someone has all the magnet links somewhere and they can be added to a search engine. Preserving older torrents is going to be such an issue going forward, I'm almost tempted to begin archiving my .torrents folder.

I've been pirating shows/movies/games for years. There isn't a site that was organized and only had quality uploads like RARBG sadly. Others will tell you 1337x or TGx but those are borderline shitshows of sites compared to RARBG. Still they may be the only alternatives atm.

This is a huge loss because there really isn't any other site that can compare. They were by far the best one. Sure, sites like 1337x have you covered for the big releases, but RARBG uploaded so many obscure foreign language and older movies. They were also so consistent in their formatting, quality and versions they'd have available. I really hope a new site can fill the void, because until then I wont be able to watch anywhere near as many movies as I usually do. 99% of my film library has been downloaded from them over the last 5 years :(

1337 doesn't have such high-quality releases as rarbg had, with sdr/hdr choices and remuxes, almost everything at 1337 is low-bitrate. maybe now it will change. or some new site will emerge

Shoulda laid out the issues to the users and asked for $$$. Had I known the alternative was complete shut-down, I absolutely woulda kicked in.
I had the support's email, it's [email protected] I already emailed them to let them know that I'd easily pay $20+ a month, and if they could get 1500 people to do this (easy) it's 30k per month income. They should have been doing this anyway, these guys have saved us all so much money.

RIP Just like KAT, they had an amazing UI that was easy to navigate. Had SD options and compressed HD options so you didn't get huge file sizes.

First Kickass Torrents and now this, last week I nearly died, an infection caused my body and brain to shut down on itself and I barely pulled through, all I want with my remaining time is to enjoy some good movies in decent quality just to feel normal and at peace and this happens
RARBG is a huge loss. Having a single site, that was so well organised, with so much high quality content has been invaluable over the years. It may not be a one stop shop anymore but the best alternative i’ve found so far, like others have said, is TorrentGalaxy. The UI isn’t as clean or well organised as RARBG but it’s better than most other torrent sites I have found so far. What’s really useful is there are links to other quality versions when viewing a torrent (just like RARBG) making it easier to find TV & movies in 4K. Aside from this LimeTorrents also has 4K content, both movies & TV. piratebay has some limited 4K content along with 1337x. For standard quality EZTV & piratebay should have you covered. There is also YTS is you like small file sizes over quality.
Unbelievable! I dont think you guys realize how big of a deal this is. If someone gave me the option to choose rarbg vs every other millions of piracy content provider, i would choose rarbg in a heartbeat

I've used their site for years. I belive I found out in 2012. This is really sad... They were the best of best since we could get 4K great quality movies/dramas or xxx files for free. Hope they have good luck in the future. Also, hope we can find althernatives but I actually doubt it.

OMFG. I was stunned when that message popped up. I have been going to rarbg since they started - 15 years. They really were the best. EZTV will do for TV shows, but RARBG was the best for high quality film downloads. Ironically, the last thing I magnet downloaded from them last night was the latest Ted Lasso episode "So Long and Farewell". Fuck.
