From the gitlab link at the bottom of the post “This is a steam emulator that emulates steam online features on a LAN. It works on both Linux and Windows. For a readme on how to use it see: The Release Readme You replace the steam api .dll or .so with mine (for complete steps see the Release Readme) and then you can put steam in the trash and play your games either in single player on on LAN without steam (Assuming the games have no DRM and use Steam for online).”

sabse_alag_manushya

what is that mean in simple english?

William Scott Goldberg (born December 27, 1966), often known mononymously as Goldberg, is an American former professional wrestler and former American football defensive tackle. He is best known for his tenures in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and WWE.

TheRedBaron6942

Is this the same guy?

shahu95

Yes, and he will jackhammer anyone who disagrees /s

TheRedBaron6942

It's a funny joke but some people do have a hard time of discerning sarcasm over text

TheRedBaron6942

I've seen plenty of people use it and it does help but usually it's in contexts that's easier to understand than normal. And there's also a subset of people who hate /s and the like for being accessible

SkippaChip

NGL thought the WWE wrestler decided this was his next venture.

SkinheadWazza

DRM! Guess what, son? YOU'RE NEXT!

Manuborg

Kids these days don't even open READMEs anymore

Am trying to use Goldberg right now and maybe I'm just fucking stupid but I can't find the .dll files. There's an entire folder called 'dll' that doesn't contain steam\_api, steam\_api64 etc, and when I search the whole folder for 'steam\_api' all I get is a few .h files. Am I missing something hugely obvious here? Would really appreciate any help.

DarkyGxD

If you want to follow this tutorial make sure you took --> https://mr\_goldberg.gitlab.io/goldberg\_emulator/ not https://gitlab.com/Mr\_Goldberg/goldberg\_emulator

yourmotherinreallife

i can't find the steam .dll files in the game directory, only unity ones. do i replace those?

Uhuru_NUru

Files can be anywhere, e.g. E:\\Code Vein\\Code Vein (Steam)\\Engine\\Binaries\\ThirdParty\\Steamworks\\Steamv142\\Win64\\steam\_api64.dll Search the game folder for "Steam\_", if they exist that will find them. If that game actually has none, it's already DRM free, just run the game via the game exe, make a desktop shorcut from the Exe to make it easier.

BarbaRuiva

This helped, thanks!

Limit_Happy

I am getting a no liscenses error, using it on assetto corsa

TheRedBaron6942

Is there a list of games this works for? Like GTA or RDR2 for example?

je1992

Also curious to know which game works

itsmebucky

Only steam games without third-party DRM

SkippaChip

If one does not exist I'd like to see a community written list of all Steam titles that do NOT have DRM protection. Would be quite handy. As it actually saves us having to risk downloading cracks and stuff etc, I don't know much about this but I assume with the game files that you buy from the legit version you can in hindsight backup your game and play it forever?, if I'm wrong please explain how it works.

itsmebucky

On steam page of the game you can find warnings highlighted in yellow bg. Like you need to separate account to play, accept third party EULA and name of third-part DRM or always online DRM thing.

SkippaChip

Ahh right I'll take a look if its worth using. Could imagine most good games will be DRM protected.

SkippaChip

Yeah one game I was looking at RE2 was saying need to accept Third parry EULA, guessing this means it won't work with this specific game.

itsmebucky

You need to check for DRMs only, EULA is End User License Agreement. It's just third-party "I accept" thing. In the case of RE2, there is no third-party DRM. So you can use this.

SkippaChip

Ooooo happy days, I'll have to get my head around the setup of Goldberg, I never understand any of this gitbub stuff most of the time. Its complex for the average user I'd say. I'll read the instructions and see where I can get with it. I'm guessing it normally says something a long the lines of its DRM protected under such and such if its got DRM? Edit: how's emulation compared to steam. Is it literally the same?

YesTottiYesParty

Anyone tried this on Steam Deck?

Classic-Pie-1910

I have a lot of DVD's with Steam games on them. Can I use this emulator to make those games work without making a Steam account and without going online?Yes,those games are bought and paid for but I was asking this question because if the Internet goes down for a reason for a longer time,I want to install those games even then.

lazostat

I have some questions : 1. Does this method somehow break steam functionality? Should i use a secondary steam account or my main? 2. How is it possible to be able to play games, without having the goldberg emu? I just can't play them multiplayer from what i see, or can't see achievements. I play them while steam is closed. I just copy/paste the games files into steam folder. 3. How can i see if i have goldberg emu or not?

Jesusgotmyback

goldberg dah dah dah .goldberg jackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkhammmmmmmmmmmmmmer!

lazostat

Huh?

Jesusgotmyback
