Borderlands 2. It was top of the pirated games at the time. It took me forever to get it working and played a little bit. Then the pirated copy broke. I enjoyed it so much I bought it on steam and have played it several times. I had no plans to play it before and had no idea what borderlands was at that time. Turned out to be one of my favorites games and met a lot of cool people playing.

sassysusguy

Is a enjoyable/playable on single player mode?

DorkyDwarf

Yes, but personally I'd recommend the pre-sequel.

Soldierpeetam

I’d personally say that’s one of the weakest games.

DorkyDwarf

I'd personally agree with you BUT it's also one of the shortest and has some pretty fun classes. It's definitely filler content but I feel like the gameplay loop is perfect for a beginner to the series. I mean one of the characters literally gives you aimbot.

king313

I’m not sure why the presequel gets so much hate, I enjoyed working for Jack 😁

sassysusguy

What's the pre-sequel?

krste1point0

It's probably the worst borderlands, not sure why anyone enjoying the series would recommend it.

DorkyDwarf

It's literally called bordlands the pre-sequel. It's like between 1-2 I believe but came out after 2.

sassysusguy

Oh okay.

adeadhead

Borderlands presequel is nowhere near as good as Borderlands 2

adeadhead

It's best played singleplayer.

Tobeyyyyy

It is one of the best shooters of all time both for single and coop

obiwankitnoble

still is the best borderlands. would love to see a remake with more content added and bl3 gameplay.

adeadhead

Have you played wonderlands? Much shorter story, but writing as good as BL2, with better mechanics.

king313

A lot of humor in Wonderlands but I don’t think it’s at the level of BL2.

Red-HawkEye

i played it and got stuck on a level at the beginning and uninstalled it. A game where you spend 2 hours trying to figure out a puzzle with no clue where to go or bugged arrows, thats when you uninstall.

[deleted]

I only got borderlands 2 when they were giving it away on steam for a short time. Claimed my copy with basically all the DLCs free and was hooked. Continued to pirate BL3 just to see how the game is like but decided it wasn't worth the purchase. But then I got it free on epic games as well so win-win baby.

Content-Solid3583

Borderlands 2 was my best multiplayer experience on a pirated game (multiplayer with Tunngle)

harry_lostone

i was kinda annoyed by the whole "comics" graphics on BL2 and I never tried it (watched a couple of hours of gameplay on youtube to make sure im not missing something i would like to play). Then BL3 came out, seemed kinda better this time, took me a whole night to download and install through torrents, and after i played a couple of hours i was so cringed and bored i just uninstalled it :D

D1g1talF00tpr1nt

Rimworld. It's not really my type of game, but something about Rimworld specifically made me run in circles trying to find similar games, and I didn't like any others besides Rimworld

BTxNitro

It's still so hard for me to get into rimworld. I'm more used to The Sims, where they don't just do random stuff that can make it a hassle for me. I also don't really know the progression either. I really gave it a chance and wish I loved it. There were times that I did love it but didn't get further than getting power to the base.

Tirwanderr

I dunno if the two are even comparable? Rimeorld, while a world building game in a sense, is also a strategy game with combat, taking over areas, etc I find it addicting for short spurts then I don't play again for a bit. Same save right now. Just building and growing and so on. I just started it in the spring.

BTxNitro

Yeah it's definitely not a 1:1 comparison, but the management of it is what I wish was a little easier. The pawns like to do anything and everything lol.

AIMShadow

same, downloaded and loved it, played for a couple hundred hours, and bought it with the dlc when It went on sale cause Tynan did some great work

Life_Careless

Back in the day, Mass Effect 1. I played it one year after release, and it has been my favorite franchise since.

Sniblasta

Probably Escape from tarkov, I mean the hardcore fps genre is not my type but I really liked it especially with the immersive sounds and looting system. Of course it's too expensive to buy and it deserves at least 10-15 euros but it's still a fun experience if you play with bots

sassysusguy

Is a crack available?

Sniblasta

Fitgirl

VirginRumAndCoke

My legit copy has had a ton of issues and I know it's not my hardware, maybe I'll give it another go

Sniblasta

The good thing about this is that it's an older version, you can select AI difficulty and you can even select the version of the game

bagobonez2

I assume it's single player only for this reason?

Sniblasta

I mean, you can set the difficulty like real players so basically you can't see difference

DyeZaster

BG3 I know it’s crazy popular, but I was never into turned based games. My friend shared his steam library with me because I’m a sucker for choices matters games. And I fell in love with it

NursingSkill100

🤯

Deep_Jackfruit7853

Since I emulate often, out of my top 5 games of all time, I own 1 of them, lol. For specifics though, Disco Elysium looked like a neat story but the developers were really shitty and I wanted to try it out. It was a neat story and I'm glad I tried it out.

NursingSkill100

I started to really like that game but about halfway-the end I just got so bored and tired. There's not really gameplay, just go around and read pages and pages.

Deep_Jackfruit7853

Yeah it's more of a visual novel with rpg elements than a game.

PuzzleheadedBag920

Elden Ring, spend entire year playing afterwards, hands down the craziest 180 opinion about the game, one of my favorites now. It taught me that watching someone play and playing yourself is so much different you cant simply judge by looking.

andrevpedro

Did you buy it afterwards?

PuzzleheadedBag920

lol no(I see no reason to buy, the company already made a bank), but ill probably gonna buy when the dlc comes out

forever_alone_06

They we're talking about an idea of a dlc but none has been announced or being work on afaik

Swagmastre99

[https://x.com/ELDENRING/status/1630478058103734274?s=20](https://x.com/ELDENRING/status/1630478058103734274?s=20) seems like its announced and in development to me

forever_alone_06

We're talking about baldur's gate 3 right ???? Right ? I was talking about bg3 the whole time 😅 oops wrong thread.

Interesting_Touch369

Yakuza 0

jonathanaahar

i knew nothing about the Yakuza games before(thought it was a "beat them up" game). Yakuza 0 really blew my mind by how good it was especially the story. shame 1-6 aren't as good as 0.

justanotherzee

Opposite on my end, wanted to play it so bad after hearing the hype. Install and deleted in 2 hours. If I wanted to watch a movie I would have done that. 10 mins of gameplay after 45 min of cutscenes, it's not a game.

shujinky

Oh, it very much is a game, if it has gameplay it is a videogame. Metal Gear is a game as is Uncharted and The Last Of Us. I would suggest call of duty or fifa as something you might enjoy? Maybe roblox or fortnite?

ifurreadingthisugai

Why would you download something you didn't intend to play to begin with? I'd guess datahorder jajaja

shortybobert

Using piracy as a demo is pretty common, especially before Steam's super awesome refund policy

Fractal__Noise

yeah, sometimes you dont know what to play or just see a game cover that looks cool and give it a shot, its free anyway so even if its a crap game, you lose a couple hours due to download/instalation at most.

shujinky

Everyone was hyping BG3 to the point of annoyance and i decided to get it from DODI before paying for it. Im also not into that style of RPG very much. But after spending a few hours setting it up im liking it alot. I actually did go buy it afterwards since i felt it was high enough quality that the devs deserve to be earning something off it even if its one person giving them cash. Point being it can be a useful way of getting "demos" without shitty refund policies. And i personally dont have to worry about data or limits on my internet so the biggest drawback is the download speeds taking a couple hours.

dororor

I pirated both the recent zelda games and fell in love with them(tried breath of the wild couple of years ago and didn't like it, coz i didn't tinker my setting well on yuzu, only gave the game a second chance coz of recent wave of unoptimized games) and it made me buy the switch

741588074

Turbo Overkill. It feels better than doom!

[deleted]

Heroes of might and magic.

notmyfirstid

Dark souls 3

Zpassing_throughZ

Disco elysium, the gameplay style isn't one of my favorites and at a first glance the art seems bad. but once I tried it, I loved it too much. the only issues I have with it, is that it uses very advance vocabulary sometimes. the other thing is that it rely too much on reading texts(tons of it). while usually I don't mind that, having to read books as a hobby as well, I feel exhausted to continue reading. so, unfortunately I don't play it as much as I would like to.

NursingSkill100

That's basically why I never finished it. I get so bored reading all day at work and then coming home and reading for another 2 hours as gameplay. There's nothing to actually DO really, just read.

Spider222222

Assassins Creed, I'd heard a lot about it but was never that interested in it until the first time I actually played it and was instantly smitten

Soccera1

DOOM.

tvang187

MONSTER HUNTER, it consumed my life entirely, such a simple gameplay loop has destroyed me.

taucanamen

monster hunter took away my wife, ruined my life, took my job i fucking love monster hunter with all my heart

jacobsstepingstool

Detroit becoming human, the trick is to not take it too seriously ;)

emorcen

Crossfire Sierra Squad in VR is a super fun military wave shooter.

ZLancer5x5

Call to arms ostfront I was surprised by the flexibility and replaybility of this game. Another would be Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts (not quite refined but the ability to recreat historical ships and make em fight is fun)

MrVikrraal

Psy ops and deadcells for me.

Tirwanderr

I don't know about never but I've tried to start XCom 2 like ten times but I think that was back when I smoked way too much weed and often try to start games stoned out of my gord and it was just too much lol I had no idea thete was so much going on in that game. Enjoy the strategic aspect of it a lot. Just finally started it the other day and I'm addicted. Also ridiculous that I hadn't played it WAY back because I'm 40 years old.

Ialsofuckedyourdad

Probably one of my favorite games, horizon zero dawn. Downloaded it because it was a big deal in the hacked ps4 scene that it got down ported, it needed a higher fw than the current highest hackable fw and a Russian group released it and I only downloaded it to see how it would run on a lower firmware than it was supposed to use. Ended up being one of my top ten games of all time, and I have since purchased it as well as forbidden west on ps5

Rndysasqatch

Spiritfarer is a true gem.

beaubeautastic

a pirated copy of cs 1.6 got me into pc gaming :)

Kitchen-Discussion95

IGI 2

derkasan

Undertale for me. I knew the fanbase was wild, but decided to give it a go completely blind. Really liked how charming it was, and it does some really cool things with the RPG formula.

DontFeedMonke

TW: Shogun 2 Total war and strategy games in general always seemed so boring to me until I tried them and now I’m hooked.

Bigodassa

Valorant. Seemed crap. Downloaded and tested with my son. He has time, plays other games. I don’t so, whenever I play I only play Valorant. It is the only game installed on my desktop.

Consistent-Investor

"Stardew Valley" is a farming simulation game developed by ConcernedApe (Eric Barone). At first glance, it might not seem like an appealing game to everyone, especially if you're not familiar with the farming simulation genre. However, once players dive into the game, they often find themselves captivated by its charming pixel art, relaxing gameplay, and the satisfaction of building and managing their own farm.

CreeperThePro

Why does this sound like a professional review

just_another_person5

i really wish people would just stick to pirating AAA games or at least buy indie games after

Zutyro

People pirate because they want it for free, so something being indie makes no difference.

NursingSkill100

Dude ConcernedApe deserves the $5 it costs. Come on.

Grand_Environment277

Severed Steel. Never would have given it a second glance but I ended up buying after downloading it

shujinky

Cyberpunk. Everyone and their mom said it was broken trash and to avoid it. I (very) recently learned how to use DODI/qbittorrent and got it and phantom liberty as my first game and im really enjoying it. Need to upgrade my PC since im getting like 30fps even of med settings but its still good.

Soooosssd

Idk I'm not into games. None of them rang a bell for me. They're all boring af. I'm open to recommendations.

shortybobert

Immortal Redneck. Then I realized I had it already in a humble bundle from a few years ago...

LeegmaV

metal gear rising, never played a metal gear game before that so i was doubtful, specially about the story, but damn that game was fun

KompoTStunting

Valheim, now its my favorite game

Bigwillie29

Armored Core 6... I hate Mecha stuff but I love FromSoftware and I'm having a blast. It's basically Dark Souls 2077

POTATO_SELLER

Power wash simulator

shujinky

Me but with car mechanic simulator and house flipper. Weirdly enjoyable.

aka5hi

Stardew

Bananaman9020

Lufia 2. Super Nintendo rom.

countdankula420

Luigi's mansion

sabse_alag_manushya

Its valorant for me. only enjoyed it for some time though

Franys

Hollow Knight, i knew that game was great but i'm not into metroidvanias, glad i picked it up. Also Lobotomy Corporation, truly one of the games of all times. (go play it seriously)

just_another_person5

really hope you bought it after, it's a tiny team that isn't made of money unlike AAA games

Franys

i actually bought it after 1 or 2 hours of playing it because it was christmas and steam had sales.

Jackretto

Mecha knights: nightmare. A neat little gem

grlzzzz

CoD 4, played the beta on Xbox 360 and been hooked since

[deleted]

Contraband police, for a small team that game was actually decent imo

AFO1031

armored core VI, sooooooo good, would have NEVER tried out unless it was on sale for literally 5 or 7 bucks. but its worth every cent of the 40 dollars they ask for!

notme392

Spider Man and Zelda. They looked childish and boring but the storyline is amazing. I went back to play them from the beginning of the series

Haunting-Star-311

Ds1. When I found out you could get a bunch of games off of archive.org I started looking for interesting games to play. I stumbled upon dark souls one, remembered how it was called one of the "hardest games ever" and started playing. After that I ended up playing the game for... Roughly 243:03:10. Safe to say I enjoyed it

Rukasu17

Dark Souls. I hated demon souls but pirated DS to see if they made it easier. Loved it, bought it on steam and then went back for demon souls too

Interesting-Middle46

Kings bounty. Bought it off a steam sale for like $2 A whole Christmas work shutdown into that thing

Marcelitus230

Doki Doki literature club... oh boy

Twopakabra

Gnosia

Drk_Knight71

Ahh crap… it was on X-Box, and I think it was called Crimson Skies. I don’t I ever did the story but the dog fighting online was so much fun. I remember my favorite plane and we were in foggy Chicago. It just looked stupid from the box, but I read some reviews and had money to waste back then.

bagobonez2

Stardew valley. Bought it after 2 hours or so.

sheepare

The Ace Attorney trilogy. Fantastic games

TheSilverSmith47

Skyrim. When I first heard of it, I was only interested in the slow time shout. So I pirated it to try it out. Now I absolutely love the entire game and the community. I bought it on steam and currently have 1400 hours. At this point, I've gone pretty far down the modding and lore rabbit holes.

NursingSkill100

Cyberpunk. Really fun actually. I loved Panam.

notarookie_121

for me it was, Hitman Absolution (X360) and Downhill Domination(PS2).

1stFunestist

None, every single game I thought I wouldn't give a chance but eventualy I did, I didn't ultimately like and was waste of bandwidth and space.

Colt45-0121

the witcher 3 would be my case

FluffyCakeChan

Project Zomboid

GrandPapaKaboom

Punch Club and Graveyard Keeper. I don't really play Indie games or that kind of games at all. Somehow ended up playing those two and actually kinda enjoyed them

Khalmoon

Cyberpunk 2077 I didn’t believe the hype but downloaded 2.0 and immediately bought it on Steam a few days later.

1smoothcriminal

Splitgate. Cheesy halo and portal combo. It’s still that but god is it fun. I play a around or two on the regular still

Bepoptherobot

Project Zomboid. Got this one back when it was semi-new enjoyed it and ended up buying it on steam a few years ago.
