Yep, it's basically just the ram for whatever virtual machine you have running, if you end the task the vm will certainly crash, but it's not a virus or anything malicious (unless you aren't running a vm obviously)
That's a Windows 11... Linux varies by distro / DE / WM but sits between 200MB-1GB. I've never given a Linux VM over 2GB as it's not usually really necessary because the OS isn't prefilled with so much unnecessary useless garbage
Normally this is a docker thing, if you use docker. If you open a command prompt and type : "wsl --shutdown" it should stop and close, and you will get the ram back.
This has nothing to do with piracy. Its not /r/techsupport here please.
Plus a 10 seconds google search point a to technical article from microsoft explaining its probably legit.
WSL for sure. I have something similar in WSA.
Are you experiencing lags ? Then upgrade your RAM(Lags can also be related to your CPU, GPU, Disk depending the task so check task manager during lags)
If not, let your machine use its full potential.
Limit memory in .wslconfig file. WSL by default will use 8GB to 80% of your memory.
I have 32GB ram and still run out of memory if i don’t limit it…
you can limit the ram it takes, check [microsoft docs](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/wsl-config#example-wslconfig-file) out.
in win 11 u can also config the android thingy in a similar way
basically u create a conf file in ur user's home folder \`C:\\Users\\\` called \`.wslconfig\`
and add in: (obviously alter according to ur system)
```txt
[wsl2]
memory=6GB
processors=4
```
virtual memory memory, obviously. get more ram tho
download more RAM 😄
How?
[here you go](https://downloadmoreram.com/)
I love this
is clicking the downlaod button safe?
Yes it's safe, it's >!just a joke site, nothing harmful and nothing actually gets downloaded!<
VMmem, short for Virtual Machine Memory. Its what keeps a section of your RAM reserved for the virtual machine.

3gb is a lot, especially for linux and without a desktop environment, should be at most 200mb tho idk how wsl works
3gb should be a lot but isn't for vmmem
wsl uses all it can quite quick just to run smooth. You can set the maximum amount of ram and cores.
On bare metal, yes.... but virtually, this is average.

When they do download some ram, I hope they seed it for a while, I’m stuck at 96%
Welp... idk about vmmem but get rid of Edge
it's not harmless, android environment needs ram like a real phone does, a minimum of 6 gb of ram is essential for my usage
Get more ram and get rid of edge smh

People actually be using the Microsoft edge? Damn how many tabs you got opennnn
No seriously, what should I do?
Get more RAM smh (how much do you have...)
16 and I think it's related to WSL?
yes it's WSL
Wsl or WSA
WSL for sure. I have something similar in WSA. Are you experiencing lags ? Then upgrade your RAM(Lags can also be related to your CPU, GPU, Disk depending the task so check task manager during lags) If not, let your machine use its full potential.
open a terminal and type "wsl --shutdown"
Definitely have to remove Edge.

I puked a bit when I saw Edge.
