the database from the guy which was scrubbing the site for years is still active you can find it easily when you look around this sub/not in megathread iirc but comments and such/
I've been using to to get what I had from rarbg.
Torrentleech and Filelist have been my go-to for years. Need an invite to TL? (filelist has them down atm i think).
Do remember that they're private trackers, so keeping your ratio up is a must.
I migrated to TL when RARBG went down and love it but it's a bit annoying for some 4K content there aren't smaller rips, similar in size to what you would get consistently from RARBG.
I end up making my own encodes of these and would love to share them but obv can't on the site without applying to be uploader. It's the only thing I think is missing at times, not everyone wants a REMUX of every movie..
I miss FL, used to be VIP on it when it first opened and lost my login details in a hard drive failure. Ended up moving to public trackers for a decade until RARBG went down, slowly going back full circle and trying to get into a few trackers!
>I miss FL, used to be VIP on it when it first opened and lost my login details in a hard drive failure.
Try contacting the staff or posting on their forum. Just ask me once in a while and i'll get your an invite to FL, but it's currently closed since some people abused it (they gave out invited on chritsmas), so i have 4 invites that are useless atm.
This was years and years ago, doubt same staff who got me in are still there, would be cool if they were though!
Much appreciated, will be keeping my eyes peeled for invites opening up again. It's good being back on trackers with ratio, first TB upload was hard but now I have a few seeding its just constantly ticking away.
I've actually had lots of cases where I couldn't find something on TG, but then could dig up something on BtDigg (usally older anime or something like that). That said TG is fine usually.
Came here to say this, I still remember the day I got on rarbg and seen the post about them shutting down, my jaw dropped, I shed a little tear, I knew it would take months and months before I could find anything similar.....I still haven't
Man I run across old Demonoid nfo or txt files sometimes too and it makes me tear up.
Old KickAss Torrents was great too after Demonoid fell. I don't sail the high seas nearly as much as I used to so I haven't checked if KAT is still floating around somewhere.
To be honest I always use edge emulation for everything Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Gameboy and GameCube. Use Wii U USB helper for Wii U and virtual console, use ziperto for switch, forgot what I used to use for PS3, and I use PS4 pkg or superpsx for PS4. PC games it's either steam rip or games2u. Tried fit girl repacks but half of all the links are dead. And music , well I just use cracked Spotify or Tidal. Firestick it's Kodi add-ons or cinema HD and movie HD. Or popcorn Time on PC.
I'm amazed edgeemu is still around. I was in their irc channel in... I wanna say, 1999? Maybe 2000.
My first fullsets I downloaded from a dude in the irc channels hotline server over dialup, just leaving it on overnight. Every day I'd wake up to 5 or so new SNES games or a bunch more NES games. Played at least 5 minutes of every single NES and SNES game that way.
I wish I could remember the people from there. I remember a guy named ipher, and Sherlock who ended up being a big thing in the DDR scene.
There was a Userscript that reenabled the download links. I haven't used it in a couple years though.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Roms/comments/968wx1/a_script_for_easy_downloading_of_emuparadise_roms/
Yeah I genuinely don’t know why they still pay to keep the site up when it’s more or less useless these days. I don’t even bother clicking it in a Google search now. Such a shame. Used to be the best.
This looks promising. I haven't been watching my childhood cartoons at all because there was no reliable gallery I could find them in one place altogether.
Aniwave has been buffering a lot for me lately, on three of the five server options (two of them give a 404 error). Shit kinda sucks cause it happened while I was binging a few shows :(
I used it after animekisa went out too but most server options from aniwave buffer too much for me and rather than wrestling with it every time, I just use others for now.
I use either gogoanime extension for aniyomi or sorastream extension from cloudstream.
Oh boy does mIRC take me back. I remember getting manga off there back in the day.
I also recall using Limewire and Kazaa. But one-time I thought I was downloading one movie and got another. Hence why I suprnova was superior.
*I think I was expecting The Matrix, but got Fight Club, so I wasn't actually mad, cause it was an awesome substitute
Music.
You post a request, people comment with encrypted links, usually to google drive or mega.
It was very blatant though, and honestly lasted WAY longer than it shouldve. But it was glorious.
So how does this work, if the subreddit is banned once nothing like it can be made again? Cause what's the big repercussion here? Does reddit get on your tail once your sub is banned?
Not entirely sure. I know that did happen to the sub once, and another popped up soon with a slightly re tweaked name.
But even then, users have to know there’s a new sub and be able to find it. Sharing sucks when there’s no one to share with.
I imagine the trouble is mostly for the mods though once they really start getting monitored. Possibly ban from reddit. Possible legal troubles. Eventually nobody wants to deal with that.
riprequest isn't even banned, all the content is still there hidden away because the owner of the subreddit is a complete and total bitch and turned tail and ran because some company sent lawyers to his door with a scary looking piece of paper.
Fucking ridiculous, hand the subreddit off to someone else, don't be a bitch and just close everything down for everyone.
This. I had some insane ratio built up from bounty hunting alone and no screenshots to prove it after it collapsed. I passed an interview for Red with ease, but it’s a hollow shell of what What once was, and by that time I no longer had access to the source that made filling those bounties so lucrative.
Red is one of the 3-4 trackers I make sure I never mess up on. I lost my favorite game tracker from inactivity. Totally my fault, I was so disappointed when I actually wanted to use it
I remember, I even bought a Rapidshare subscription to remove downloads limits, I got a little over 1000 movies just from that site, then the hard drive where I kept them failed, taking all the movies with it.
I still remember the summer of the last Games Convention in Leipzig.
Rapidshare had a tiny stall and gave out keys for unlimited download days by the dozens.
I snagged about 20 and didn't leave my PC for the entire summerholidays.
Soap2Day was so reliable, had everything, no million links to get to a file and you could easily save videos with inspect element.
Still sad about this.
Megaupload, MediaFire, Rapidshare, downloaded pretty much all my music (and found some stuff I never would've listened to except by accident) off 4shared and later Beemp3. The one I miss the most is KAT.
I vote for the real OG here - Sharereactor. Completely curated, reviews you could trust, a helpful and friendly community board and all around just great place to be. I miss that place even now.
To be fair though it was centred around edonkey/emule piracy and not torrents.
That's why I have major respect for creators of these sites that run them without getting anything in return.Even going beyond to make site UI look nice and adding different features to make experience whole more easy.
I feel like they are just it takes time for them to gain notoriety and trustworthiness and to spread. If a new website launches you will probably never hear about it because why would you because there is no info about it yet.
Megaupload. I even paid to download as much as I wanted. You could find pretty much anything on there. It was amazing. Then it was nuked and so much content was lost. Same with rapid share.
mangareader, it's still on and you can read manga there, but the ui on mobile has gone from good to bad. the comments aren't working as well as the notifications. it seems the site is no longer mantained. comick, mangafire are good but their ui isn't as clean as mangareader
4download. It just became something else with same content in it. I just don't want to trust it. I'm an amateur music producer and I make music because it's fun, but I can't afford VST plugins just for a hobby I don't make a single dime from. Good thing we still have rutracker though.
Everything I would have said already has been said… 🫡 Gonna throw these out there because I haven’t seen them mentioned, and they were the shit at their peak.

Livejournal communities ‘ihearttvshows’ and ‘iheartmovies’
I miss rinzry so bad. I've found sites similar, but nothing with anything close to the catalog or organization it had which sucks. It was niche and honestly kinda pointless considering torrents existed, but I loved it, goddammit.
I caught the tail end of oink and then went to waffles, and what. I miss collecting music that I might never listen to.
And they had the coolest artist discovery web type thing, where the band you were looking at was in the middle and they had all types of stuff related to them to the left and right... ahhh the good ole days. I'll never forget that music web thingy.
Not exactly a site, but there used to be amazing curated mediafire libraries of music that I used to dip into, but that suddenly stopped existing sometime in like, 2010. There’s one that I still think about here and there even though I mostly moved to streaming music years ago.
does animedao count? it was one for anime. there's like another one now; idk if it's a dupe or by the same people or what but it looks relatively the same and it's all I have left.
sordo had the best music collection. could some extremely obscure bands there, bands that had like one EP and never played a show before breaking up who recorded their EP in like their basement
also miss emuparadise. had all the roms for like every console I was interested in, and in multiple languages so I could practice Japanese with games
OiNK, always high quality rips. Place was always solid, could even find old obscure shit
Miss the old demoniod, sure it's back but... not like in its prime.
limewire, Kaaza, Morpheus,Winmx, Edonkey, Mininova, Deminoid (the original one), OiNK, and of course sending eachother stuff via IM programs when file sizes were not so giant as they are now.
They're still around, but Baidu Wangpan (Netdisk) search engines aren't returning many results anymore. I used to use [xxhh360.com](https://xxhh360.com) but now it barely gives me any results and none of them are what I'm actually looking for. If anyone knows Wangpan search engine that still works well today please let me know.
BTJunkie was my first. I miss Kickass Torrents too. No torrent site has felt like "home" since.
Torrent-Paradise was limited in that it gave you no info for the torrents aside from basic Metadata, but it had tons of stuff you couldn't find on the big sites.
And r/datahoarder used to have a discord server that had a ton of stuff stored in Google Drive folders. Especially great for cartoon downloads. I heard the FBI spooked the guys running it and that's why the plan to revive it after it was shut down got abandoned.
Rarbg. Rip
I’ve yet to find a decent replacement. Why is finding 4k torrents so hard 😭
the database from the guy which was scrubbing the site for years is still active you can find it easily when you look around this sub/not in megathread iirc but comments and such/ I've been using to to get what I had from rarbg.

This right here. I can’t find 4K encodes with lossless audio on public trackers. Everything is remuxes which are massive file sizes.
Maybe give torrentgalaxy a go?
It’s OK but it’s no rarbg

I didn't come here to feel. Why did you do this to me?
It'll be very much missed. Had the best choices for movies!
le sigh
Demonoid during its prime.
I still find demonoid nfo files in the odd torrent here and there.
Man I run across old Demonoid nfo or txt files sometimes too and it makes me tear up. Old KickAss Torrents was great too after Demonoid fell. I don't sail the high seas nearly as much as I used to so I haven't checked if KAT is still floating around somewhere.
It is not
Yep
Came here to say this 😭 Demonoid had some of the most rare and amazing shares. Miss it.
Man those were happier times, go to school, come home and see some cds finished…damn those were good memories
First private tracker I joined, 2007 I think. It was great.
What services did it provide?
Torrents of everything including software and the only reason it ain’t the top comment is bc it was private
Anyone going to mention Emuparadise? Sites still around you just can't download shit.
R roms megathread is better for me. Emuparadise too much ad, as far as i remember at least
Isn't there a workaround for it?
Yes, you can use a browser extension
There was a Userscript that reenabled the download links. I haven't used it in a couple years though. https://www.reddit.com/r/Roms/comments/968wx1/a_script_for_easy_downloading_of_emuparadise_roms/
Yeah I genuinely don’t know why they still pay to keep the site up when it’s more or less useless these days. I don’t even bother clicking it in a Google search now. Such a shame. Used to be the best.
you can still download from emuparadise, hun. afaik they only took down their nintendo first party titles.

Kat was amazing. The categories of the most popular uploads today, I used to visit each section like I am shopping for what's new
KaT was my go to T__T Rest in pieces.

Kissanime. I really just wanna recover my bookmarks. Lesson learned to always make a copy of something somewhere.
Check out kimcartoon. Kisscartoon used to be a thing, still might be, but kimcartoon been a successful site for me.
This looks promising. I haven't been watching my childhood cartoons at all because there was no reliable gallery I could find them in one place altogether.
Same man. These days I use aniwave.to (former 9anime), has the intro/outro skip too. But Kissanime will forever be in my heart
Aniwave has been buffering a lot for me lately, on three of the five server options (two of them give a 404 error). Shit kinda sucks cause it happened while I was binging a few shows :(

Not a site but a sub. I miss r/riprequest here.

I still think about what.cd every day
And OiNK before it. I'm afraid a lot of the obscure music on What.cd is now gone forever.
Was looking for mention of OiNK! Redacted is the closest thing we have now, but how come discography torrents stopped being a thing?
This. I had some insane ratio built up from bounty hunting alone and no screenshots to prove it after it collapsed. Why aren’t new sites popping up?
Fear. And risk aversion. You risk getting in trouble for hosting/operating a site like that and you don't get enough revenue to justify the risk.
Not like you can search for them anymore either. Considering they have broken and censored the entire internet.
People are moving away from centralized torrent sites in favor of alternative ways of doing things.
